I agree. I've been a PC user ever since I was strong enough to push the buttons on the keyboard. But, I must admit, even though it is a stronger OS, I haven't completely cut out the Windows part of my life. This is where Boot Camp comes in. It's not perfect but it's not exactly useless either.

To all you mindless yuppy Windows users who think I'm bashing Windows. I've tried to tolerate Vista, but I would constantly run into errors and troubles and I am sick of those experiences.

OSX simply works compared to Linux. Most people need a computer to work and not to mess around with. I want to spent time on a lot of other things than tunning my computer, compile own drivers etc. geeks can do this if they feel happy with it, i'm not intressted in it and do not care about linux geeks.

Operating system under OSX is Darwin BSD.

Darwin is fork of FreeBSD originally made to run NextStep. Apple later made it a base of their nextgen operating system.

GNU/Linux is imitation of UNIX made as good as possible. Linux works better than OSX and it's more reliable on wider hardware. But it's desktops are rubish at the moment. I hope that KDE4.0 will change that.

All you have to do it NOT go to all those sketchy porn/illegal sites and you won't get viruses and even if you still want to go to those sites, a simple firewall and anti virus software will prevent and damage. Vista is shit, but XP is not. Define "best parts" and if he is running vista, then theres the source of the problem for your uncle. I dunno how poorly your uncle built his pc, but I'm running a pretty old rig with XP and it's far from slow. The reason schools use macs is often because of special deals made between manufacturers and the school districts. It is also because they are easy for idiots to use and requires very little intelligence to learn how to use them.

I remember when ppl were saying that b4 all the apps that allow you to run windows AND leopard simultaneously. And I'm not sure if you've noticed but ppl can still get viruses with the oh-so-powerful firewalls that are put in place. It cracks me up that people keep saying "WINDOWS/LINUX" and the fact of the matter of LINUX and OS X are SO MUCH more closely related then Linux/Windows.

The simple fact that as for production goes(when you get out of the "Games rule my life" world), you will learn that OS X is a very very efficient OS for workflow in a VERY wide variety of formats from programming to Video Editing.
