Her voice is Dramatic Mezzo, Lyric Soprano, Mezzo Coloratura, Dramatic Soprano, Dramatic Coloratura, Contralto, Lyric Coloratura, and according to BBC she's is 'THE BEST SINGER OF ALL TIME'. If you want search in youtube 'Many voices of the Diva' and watch what Callas can do with her voice.

She can sing all music made for human voice, that's what critics of Opera says.

@diziady1 I think you are a ignorant, you can't compare the Ewa podle's voice with the Maria Calla's voice, first, MAria was a Soprano Sfogatto, and Ewa a Dramatic Contralto, they were the complete extreme of the femmale vocal tesiture, and both had an incredible vocal range but tey didn't have comparation, and I completelly agree with @junefun55 the point is not if you likes or dislikes Callas, the point is what she marked a milestone in the history of opera, and you can't change that....

tragic diva as no other . She marked a milestone in the Met history in a 2nd. rate

night at the old Met to her tragic stupidly advised recitals at the end .That she continued

shows she had little artistic integrity .ending up a Florence Foster Jenkins . Opera gets along quite well without her.She put on one great act

The point is NOT if you like or dislike Maria Callas; the point is she was totally unique. This in itself means her specific uniqueness will divide opinion, so it is a total waste of time to say she was the best or the worst. Within recorded memory she is simply Callas, if you don't understand that you are totally misunderstanding where she sits in the history of opera.

Now the habanera she carries off far better and makes one of the finest Carmens that has ever been heard. If I recall correctly though, she never performed this on stage.

This is a very passionate performance but I have to say that Mirella Freni outsings her in every note of this scene and achieves some soft singing that is just unbelievable where all Callas manages here is pure CAN BELTO! And the wobble has set in already on the high notes as well. What a great pity.

@carloge77 Caro mio, ti sbagli. E vero che Maria doveva cantare Don Carlo a Napoli nel 1950/51, ma e caduta malata con itterizia. Lei finalmente canto Elisabetta nel 1954 alla Scala pero non incise Don Carlo nel studio. La Carmen la registro nel 1964 senza mai cantarla in teatro.
