Chris Stainton. No more words needed to say that this is one of the best blues-performances ever done. What a pianoplayer. NO ONE playes bluespiano like him.
Well, I read recently that he was ranked #4 of all Guitarists. There have and are so many great guitarists, I would not argue much, but I will say this. I have seen Duane Allman, Stevie Ray, Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter and a few others. They are all number ones in my personal ranking. Eric has withstood the Test of Time and put out so so many good songs. Anyone who has played with him played better after wards. That is the mark of superior quality.
Clapton has a Perfect sense of timing and phrasing along with the abilty to play around the others. A lot of great players out there, but as this video shows he's still on top!
Drums: Ian Thomas and Steve Jordan. Keyboards: Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon. Bass: Willie Wek. Vocals: Michele John and Sharon White. Guitars: Doyla Bramhsl II, Dereck Truck and God: Eric Clapton.
@sCroatandNettles It is a showcase not a poor musician trying to earn a meal. I don't think an homage to RJ requires an exact replication of the song. I love me some straight delta blues as much as anyone, but I can't fault this performance. Did you hear Derek make it sing? Jesus.

Not awesome at all. It's embarassing, overly-indulgent crap. Listen to the sparse fire of the original, then listen to these guys vamping it up in almost a parody of the Clapton style. If Clapton doesn't know any better, Doyle Bramhall certainly should.
Okay, the all the musicians are all incredible, that's a given. The most priceless moment:?? the drummer finishes his flurry at the end of the song, slammin' the hell out of those drums, and then the video cuts to our host, Bill Murray, who's positively beside himself with glee, slappin' himself out of disbelief at what he's just witnessed!!
Good Lord Derek Trucks you are a badd badd man.

FUCK FUCK FUCK, OMG....shit.......he's too good, I have never heard anyone make a guitar sound like that before.
Apologies for the over-reaction, i'm usually a very reserved person, but he does things that make me go crazy.
