thing is if he really was a pro gambler I'm not sure how he made a living out of it with that strategy. I bet frequently and make a bit of money out of it and that is the worst advice I would give someone... bet all of your money on one thing. First part was true though; some days there are 20 bets to make, others none. No such thing as an all-in cert though. apart from if you happened to fix the world series... but that wouldn't really be called gambling if the outcome is premeditated.
@b4rn35y I see his advice similar to the Art of War. I'm sure Rothstein doesn't mean bet it all every time. But in the big decisions, if you've done your homework, made your plans, marshaled your resources... then you implement your strategy 100%
@b4rn35y I think that's the point. It would be perfectly logical to unload and bet it all if you knew the fix was in. And in Rothstein's case, he knew whenever the game or race was fixed.
Bless you for loading this up. I was thinking about this one scene for days. It's actually given me a whole new appreciation for Rothstein and his lines in the show.
Whos cooler? Hyman Roth or Arnold Rothstein?

The actor playing Rothstein is flawless. Certainly one of the most interesting characters, if not *the* most interesting, on "Boardwalk Empire".

I like the story about the "man who made a comfortable living wagering whether he could swallow certain objects." better. Rothstein is the man.

Sy Ableman was played by somebody else. The guy playing Rothstein was played by the guy who played the main character.
