why make two different versions of the same show? that doesnt make any sense. god forbid syfy should make an american version of doctor who next i will personaly go down to the station and pull the plug on it before it could even air properly.
naaah all the time americans try to copy our shows and they just killed being human for ever considering to make it other there and the characters look fake and mitchell looks like a copy cat vampire of twilight vampires lmao O.o sad sad people
I just watched the first episode...definitely not anywhere near as good as the original. I'm quite disappointed, tho i should of guessed sense America killed Skins (the tv show). I'm also not all that fond of the actors, especially Mitchell or in the syfy version 'Aiden' the vampire.
@XxdeathisforeverxX i just saw it last night and i thought it was pretty great as a diffierent version! syfy really could call this an original(As in American) comin from its basic factoids within its indep feature such as their settings! like the scene where Josh meets his sister and when heh Annie(forgot her new name) brings up some views of what the boys were doing when she was unseen(tho i would say she needs fit the annie character a tad more) its more detailed is wut i would say...
@GrimDimensions I do think the US version is pretty ok and all but its no where near as good as the UK. Every show we adapt from the UK almost always sucks, this has to be one of them. The graphics are way better (sorry but the only thing that bugged me about the UK version was the werewolf, it looked funny) but the storyline isn't all that great and the actors kinda suck. all in all UK beats US.
i dont get why people are being so negative about this series adaption although it is not the original UK version it may still be good or even better and though the UK version is powerful in storyline i would like to see it with brighter effects or more modern comedy (though i am probably gonna see season three of the original while im watching this version) i do not think t is really something horrible but something i could look forward to seeing all over again with a different point of view^^
@XXtacticsluverXX1234 Yes, British comedy pales in comparison to that of the USA - the wit, the subtlety... Larry the Cable Guy, Carrot Top, etc.
Of course, British programmes rarely come with a canned laughter track - this will throw the US audiences immediately...if they're not told it is funny, how will they know when to laugh?
@lineswine im sorry to tell that not all american comedy comes with canned laughter(?)americans are not really different from other people we don't laugh when the tv says we laugh when something is funny to us. i watch all types of shows and read all types of books of different countries& i know one thing that will catch any audience's characters interacting in a fun way & i just feel that from what i have seen these character's interactions are Platonic & straight which just feels right to me
Im all good for remakes, but this US version doesnt have the principles morals of the UK version that the the roommates come across when learning what it is to "Being Human". The US is trying to sell, what they think American audiences would like but no dice US, all you did was ruin a great show that didnt need any change when it is all ready great to start off with. I cant imagine the show with out Annie, Adian and Grorge
It seems Americans cannot conceive that any other country could POSSIBLY come up with a programme concept & execute it without some "U.S. input". If, by chance the DO come across this anathema to their "Uncle Sam" sensibilities, they do the only thing that salves their hurt pride.
They remake it "in their own image" - calling in a team of writers, a.k.a. "TV writing by committee". This removes any sense of the original idea, bowdlerises the script & waters the concept down to almost nothing.
@tippytoemonkey Oops, sorry @izandjenz, I posted before I saw your comment and now look like one of those idiots who doesn't realise when someone else already said it better. Also, please excuse the language, fellow youtubers, I got angry :$
I'm American and even I KNOW the British version is a billion times better. The person who said imitation is the highest form of flattery was a liar, this looks like shite. I hope I'm wrong and it's at least descent but I doubt it....America kills TV.
@Gonk being an optimist doesn't make you a positive one. He's being a pescimist, and is worried with good reason. I am going to keep an open mind as they have good actors playing the roles. If they handle it quite differently, it may just seem like another, completely different, good show. Lets see what happens.
I'm sorry, but Sam Witwer as Mitchell? That upsets me, he's nowhere near as Hot as Aidan Turner. They could have found someone better than Sam. I'll check it out, but I already hate who they chose for Michell.
I agree with @jonneh18. Even the dialog in the promo is poor, at best. The acting is terrible. The UK series is definitely going to be superior to this.
NO!!!! it wont work :/ the brit version is mega and orginal so it isnt an orginal series why do americans have to mess UK tv series up - it wont have the same humour and will be more cheesy and big ego vampire dude :@ this is to annoying - the brit version is better because it is set better in the UK :( oh well- and AHHHHH no inbetweeners in USA that wont work or be the same it will be more cheesy :( leave it to the orginals there better :D
@jonneh18 Haha 'big ego vampire' - LOVE IT! I agree with you and I hate how the vampire and the werewolf here look soooo similar to each other! At least in the British version you could tell the difference between geeky George and sexy Mitchell :D
(And the ghost looks just like Annie especially with the outfit!)
@Aprilcch What country are you from? At best if they brought the UK version over they could get away with some of the swearing but unless you would prefer that they toned down the gore and cut out most of the sex scenes which you would then get upset about. Why do we have to choose to like one and not the other? I see this as an opportunity to see a version of being human like it is some sort of awesome alternate reality! It isn't like they are cancelling the BBC version either.
@YaHuWaHservant Yes, look at the "wonderful" job the yanks did with Cracker, Red Dwarf, The office etc.
Why does America see a good idea & them proceed to fuck it up royally?
It is likely to dumb it down for the lowest common denominator - the mouth breathing trailer-trash American that still supports televanglists that have been unmasked as anything but "pious" SUCKERS!
They can, after the tea-party meeting, go shoot up some passing democrat - I'm kidding, they'd NEVER do that, right Cletus?
@lineswine Its comforting to know that humanity has reached a point where we can judge a thing before we've seen it, insult an entire demographic for our preconceived notions of them and then bring politics up in the context of a television show that has no intention of being political AND THEN! take all this negativity and claim that it's all the fault of the people we disagree with and that we are never to blame.....The brilliance of the human species shines with the light of a thousand suns.
@NonFaustian I've seen US re-makes of original UK programmes...I KNOW the re-makes are shite. It is called "experience". Although the company in charge of the remakes is Canadian, they have to tailor the programme to its' target audience - i.e. thick-as-pigshit yanks. This involves making the stories as simple as possible, or Cletus will lose the plot thread, turn the channel over to watch repeats of NASCAR.
Are you all daft? Looks like one of those comedy mockery movies...they say "original" but the Brits already did it and did it well...we can't possibly surpass that...
Love the original, this is definitely going to be a eh type thing for me but I'm willing to give it a try. If I don't like it, I got the DVD seasons of the other so not really losing much.
Ok if you wanna know what to kinda expect, on BBC America website you can see the British version and we'll see which in the end is better. though I usually prefer originals to remakes when it comes to television.
@wickhamsgal British version will probably stay better, but I have high hopes for the American version too :] It actually looks not terrible (unlike the teaser trailers for the new skins)
Orignal or not-the US version is the best.. Even if I hate the US, we can't hate the people there
