  • 10" in 3 minutes?? The drills I use can more than triple those numbers.

  • Is it not dangerous to heat up stone in this way? Any air pockets in there and you could have a explosion on your hands..

  • The flame is not just simple hydrogen combustion. It is actually using what's known as monatomic hydrogen, where the H2 gas is passed through a strong electrical discharge to turn it into a plasma. The splitting and recombination of the hydrogen molecules creates temperatures up to 10,000F. Don't believe me, google Spallation drill or monatomic hydrogen torch.

  • lol at Curakiewicz.

  • I'd love to see that fucker hit a pocket of natural gas

  • @chase312 In which case it would do nothing, as there would have to be an appropriately sized pocket of oxygen that had somehow mixed with the pocket of natural gas before it would do anything. The oxygen feeding the drilling apparatus is being used up at the torch end.

  • kindly tell what is the material used for drill bit?

  • @stfubp Hydrogengass is used to create a very hot flame

  • @twantwanneke yeah i know that but what i dont know is the material that is supporting it and not getting melted under such high temperature ? is it steel

  • @stfubp : I think it's made of tungsten. It has a meltingpoint of 3400°C. The temperature needed to drill the hole is below 2000°C.
