I believe this camera angle makes it look like your going slower than you really are. I could hear tire squeal but it looks like you could ride a bicycle that fast in the corners.
Was that filmed with a GoPro ? i like the footage, seems to be the right track for your car ! Still you would be much faster if you would get the corner entry point right, so you wouldn't have to correct your steering three times inside the corner getting understeer. And also try to rev-match the engine while downshifting using heel and toe...Beside that, great video ! Enjoyed it very much
@TheGetawayer Yes GoPro HD Motorsports, thanks for your comment, yes i know i could have driven much faster (and better), but it was my 1st time on dry track, hope to drive better next time!
:) in questa configurazione potrebbe quasi piacermi ;) ottima auto, complimenti!
@MyQwerty010 The Cooper S is better than the Abarth, when i had to buy a car i wasn't even considering to buy one because i think the Abarth is more exciting to me, the JCW edition is a badass Mini.
@june372 Ciao, grazie, comunque sono anche io italiano! Si il sound è molto bello ma comunque alla mia gli ho cambiato lo scarico per questo fa più casino ;)
@marchettino Don't speak Italian, though I wish I did but I could kind of understand that through a translator...and yeah I love a good exhaust upgrade on any car.
i see nothing wrong with his driving ofcourse the kids would expect him to burst into a corner with 300kph and change gear in 100miliseconds and put nos to boost power all in a time of 5 seconds
A parte i commenti idioti sulla tua guida, che ritengo bilanciata e aggressiva al punto giusto, considerando che è anche la tua "own car", complimenti per gli 801 video. Non vediamo l'ora di Imola :)
Lol you can't expect him to drive any better... it's his personal car which I doubt he wants to push to the limit while at the same time being safe. Let's not forget it's a 175HP car and not a twin turbo 12 cylinder aswell... Good job Marchettino, video was very entertaining nonetheless.
@matty2k001 Thanks for your comment. Well you have to consider it's a small car and with 175hp it's very very fun to drive. If you're not afraid of the risk you can crash you can drive as fast as you can. I have to say, i was trying to do my best but i was pretty disappointed. That day i made a 2nd session on track with a copilot who taught me the trajectories and a good braking points, and i drove much faster than here. Next time i will drive at Imola track, hope for a decent result :)
@marchettino Nice Vid. Fantastic Camera position!!! You drive with both hands and let the hand only for shifting from the steering wheel, thats very good. The ideal line on the track is not the best but practice makes the master. The most importand thing is that you should learn heel and toe. You can practice this every day on the streets.
@V8Roehrldrifter Thanks! Yes i wasn't driving very good, i drove a few weeks ago again on track and i will upload some videos, and i was definitely driving much better than here. I did also some heel toe, i'm learning to do it correctly ;)
@marchettino, I think I'm in love with your Abarth. I've seen the outside of it, love the sounds of the exhaust, and that red interior is just beautiful. Great choice job. This video was great fun to watch too. :) Seems like a fun little hatchback.
@lwkleijn Yes there were other Abarths on track, i decided to put on YouTube 3 laps without traffic because after there were always cars and we were driving slower than here.
@marchettino The difference in gear speed can cause a lot of stress to your drive line when there is a high RPM difference, especially going from say 4K RPM to 6500 RPM on a downshift at the track. It eats diffs, clutches, and dog rings. Besides, it's fun to heel-toe!
@xXxDarkyLightxXx Thanks, the engine is a 1.4l turbo engine with around 170-175hp, in the other comment you can read all the mods on the car. A stock Abarth has 135hp.
@xXxDarkyLightxXx Brand new almost 19k €, then i have about 3k € of mods, including also some carbon fibre components in the car. After the summer i think i will install a new turbo.
@richmond24 Abarth is the tuner of Fiat, like AMG for Mercedes. It's a more sporty and faster version than the standard 500. It's coming in 2012 in USA and Canada.
@marchettino I doubt its coming in 2012, because I live in Puerto Rico and the other day I saw a Fiat 500 standard, recognized it because of the tiny round head lights, and Puerto Rico is considered a state, so probably they're already bringing some of them to the states including Puerto Rico.
One thing I noticed you did multiple times is you hit the brakes and came into the corners a bit too slow, and you kept a lower speed through them. As you start to exit a turn, start accelerating. It's very helpful sometimes.
@hendrixexperiencedig Trust me , you can go much much quicker for that amount of money , even if we are talking about strictly brand new cars... Twingo is much cheaper , almost as quick on the straights and with much better chassis and Clio is as expensive as Abarth but miles faster and better for sport driving...
@marchettino I would have to agree on that , much more torque and wider powerband makes it easier to go fast on the roads , on the track it doesnt matter as much because you are constantly above 4,5k rpm , one thing I hate about the Abarth is the numb and sloppy steering , shame about that because the rest of the car is really good
you need to improve on braking and turning :) dont be shy to use bumps, especially with dry circuit. Study the trajectories to best use all the road and let the car exit turning smooth and clear ;) great car for track day, congratulations !!
@absolute3d86 Yes i completely agree. I wasn't satisfied about this session because i was braking early, because they were new and more powerful and i had to get used to the more power of the brakes. I made another session that day with a friend copilot and he taught me the trajectories, i drove much faster and i was more confident with myself, in the straight i started to brake at 70m.
How many euros does cost a track's rent per one day ? Not bad, btw. I would to buy & drive a bit used M5 (E34) instead your Rocket :)) (for same money)
@AndreyPurtov It depends, it's quite expensive to drive on track, i think that 50 euros for 30 minutes of driving is cheap, usually you have to spend at least 70 or also 150 euros per 30 minutes.
I wasn't very satisfied by my driving in this session, that day i made a 2nd session with a friend as copilot, he taught me some more things about the driving on track and i was faster than here.
@marchettino ohh, no wonder hahaha. I saw your upgrades but didn't saw a turbo upgrade. I hope you know the turbo peak descends while you're having more rpm's. As in, the turbo peak is 15 psi, I don't know in bars. You should consider changing your turbo too unless is after market. Since its a tiny car with tiny engine, then its not problem having the turbo peak faster. Maybe upgrading the turbo to a 16g one will help even if psi/bars are the same. But really nice its turbo, I wonder how much $?
@elchicoboy The boost of the stock Abarth is 0.8-1 bar, the SS 1-1.2, mine with the ECU upgrade goes up to 1.4 bar. Yes i'm planning to install a new turbo after the summer, i will go for the Garrett1548 i think, going up to 205hp, that's not an expensive turbo, in the USA the price is around 650$, then i have to buy some more components for the engine, i think that with less than 2k € i can go up to 205hp.
@marchettino That's pretty nice, best way is not excess the hp to 250-260 or more because you will have lots of problem with wheel spin, specially on curves that I might think you will need your car for (Track, Circuit). But 205hp for a 1.4 litre car is perfect, is more than I expected. Thanks for your response Marchettino, keep it up!

@marchettino So its a n/a (naturally aspirated) engine? for having the engine so small is quite powerful.
elchicoboy 8 months ago
@elchicoboy It's turbo ;)
marchettino 8 months ago

Yes i'm planning to install a new turbo after the summer, i will go for the Garrett1548 i think, going up to 205hp, that's not an expensive turbo, in the USA the price is around 650$, then i have to buy some more components for the engine, i think that with less than 2k € i can go up to 205hp.
marchettino 8 months ago
@marchettino That's pretty nice, best way is not excess the hp to 250-260 or more because you will have lots of problem with wheel spin, specially on curves that I might think you will need your car for (Track, Circuit). But 205hp for a 1.4 litre car is perfect, is more than I expected. Thanks for your response Marchettino, keep it up!
