I never realized it before, but there's a disturbing amount of similarities between Smeyer and Annie Wilkes from Stephen King's Misery. Both are morbidly obese, are obsessed with Victorian period romance, they over-identify with a fictional character who's a self-centered cocktease, have an immature attitude on swearing (Meyer herself admits to giggling everytime someone says "seminal fluid") and both have caused countless people unbearable suffering.
