  • 100 times beter than the paul mcartny and wings version

  • I LOVE this song no matter who does it. It is so beatifull. Of course bag pipes add to it.

  • One word only .... beautiful

  • This is pure bliss! Thank you Sir Paul for writing this gem.

  • Makes me wish I was Scottish.

  • dId the dragoons do the original score for this song.........

  • What an exquisite voice! I wish I knew the name behind it!

  • @judyrifka The singer is Paul McCartney - obviously not the one from the beetles.

  • @dudeitoastedthedog The singer (and songwriter) of the original version is the same Paul McCartney from the Beatles...however, this is a cover version. Paul's version was co written with fellow Wings member Denny Laine (which I believe he sold the rights to his portion of the royalties/credits back to Paul when he was going broke after the break up of Wings)

  • @judyrifka His name is Will Martin. He does have an amazing voice--very haunting. I play this one over and over!

  • Absolutely beautiful....great love of the pipers

  • If this is Paul Mcartneys version, he sure sings with a clear and unaccented voice.

its a real nice version. Is this Mccartney???

  • @progressiverebel no its some guy that ive never heard of

  • @progressiverebel No, this isn't Paul McCartney--it's Will Martin. Personally, I think this one has a better voice!

  • @TheArwen2010

Perhaps... although I love Paul McCartney's voice. I think the pipes are better in Wings' version though.

  • What better song to bring a soldier home?

  • Brilliant Version Of A Absoloute Classic :) Royal Dragoon Guards Just Complement It So Well

  • For those three people, may motha Scotland put a boot up your ass!

  • E' veramente una grande musica che mi trasporta nel vuoto del cielo, in alto, molto in alto!

  • Can anyone please tell me who is singing this at the moment?its just great singing!!!!!!!

  • OMG! This version is amazing! Love the voice - love the bagpipes.

  • What an inspiration ! Best love from Northern Ireland.

  • so much better than that Mcartney thing, at least this fella can sing

  • @Bigcasino38 Never thought McCartney could sing. The Beatles were mediocre at best. This lad has a beautiful voice and pipes are splendid.

  • @Bigcasino38 While I definitely admire the beauty of this version and the singer's voice, with all due respect, it was "that Mcartney[sic] thing" long before this. McCartney wrote this song about a very special place that was dear to his heart, and as such it is my personal opinion that his original version would be unjustly supplanted by another on the basis of sound quality alone. Nevertheless, as I have already said, I certainly believe there is room to appreciate both versions.

  • @daisytinabeckybubble very deep but also very true. everyone nedds a bit of bagpipes it stirs the soul

  • Beautiful! It makes my throat ache.

  • Christmas number 1 this year thumbs up if you agree

  • Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. See these warriors in battle - you tube!

  • @MrEODTEK If you think he sounds like a woman, I suggest you get your hearing checked.

  • This is a nicely made video...

  • This is a nicely made video...Paul McCartney's voice with bagpipe accompanment

  • Thanks for posting this :) :) :)

  • YOU'RE VERY RIGHT ABOUT THE HIGH STANDARD AND THE QUALITY TUNE!!!

Even better performance than the original version by McCartney and Wings!

  • The melody of this "haunting" to me.When the Beatles came to America in the 1960's very few males liked them.We didn't know what we were hearing musically. They were robbing us of our girls. Now we listen to music written buy some of them and marvel.

  • Beautiful music!

  • Beautiful Song!!!

  • I'm not from Scotland but this song sure brings a tear to my eyes...

  • Beautifully sang, and easy to listen, not too much back ground noise.

  • Long live Scotland

  • This is just Mull of Timperley by Frank Sidebottom and they changed the words a little bit.

  • @NachoAzul1

Are you serious or...are you Frank Siderbottom?

  • Comment removed

  • @fellinian - as the immortal Frank died in June 2010, and internet connections from beyond the grave are notoriously hard to find, I can confirm my lack of being-Frank-Sidebottom-ness.

His tragic death only makes tunes like this, inspired by his classic "Mull of Timperley," all the more poignant.

  • @OasisShmoasis

Chris Sievey is death, not Frank.

MacCartney and Lane wrote the song in the 1977, it is not "inspired" to Mull of Timperly.

  • @fellinian - You are correct - Frank will live forever, and so will his immortal song "Mull of Timperley." I think that, if asked, Sir Paul of Macca and his sidekick Sir Denny of Lane would admit to the heavy influence of Frank Sidebottom in every song they ever wrote.

I hope Paul and Ringo now take some of the demos that Frank left and finish some of his songs, like they did with "Free as a Bird."

  • not a bad version bagpipes make it could be my scottish roots luv bagpipes

  • magnifica canzone di quei tempi e dei miei tempi.avevo 18 anni:bei ricordi e magnifica interpetrazione soprattutto di linda e paul mc cartney.

  • When the bagpipes kick in I keep asking myself why our roof ain´t water-tight... or why else becomes my vision watered down??

  • Ahhhh, when you just want a song that will take you away from all your troubles... beautiful!

  • "Mull of Kintyre" is a popular 1977 song by Paul McCartney and his band Wings. The song was written by McCartney and bandmate Denny Laine in tribute to the picturesque Kintyre peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, where McCartney had owned a home and recording studio since the late 1960s, and its headland or "mull".

The song was Wings' biggest hit in the United Kingdom where it became Christmas number one, and was the first single to sell over two million copies in the UK.

  • Paul McCartney wrote this song- even though he's English, he admired the beauty of the land where he lived in scotland at the Mull of Kintyre. THe true accent here makes it equally pretty.

  • McCartney English! He may have lived and was born but Mccartney is Scottish man! all the way!!

  • @pteJames

No he is not English, nor is he Scotish, He is American...hahahahha..actually, he was born and raised in Liverpool, England.

  • @pteJames Nope, Paul like all the Beatles were born and bred in Liverpool England.

  • This has to be one of the most ravishing melodies ever written.

  • This is beautiful enough to make you cry. Celtic music is the best music in the world!

  • Love it even tho it makes my heart hurt.
