im a second year japanese language student. would this be something good for me to use as extra practise or not really. i already have tadashi kanji kakatori kun and kanji dictioinary games.
@Mr123GOKU123 it will help you alot as a great way to learn the basics very fast and some advance things too...it doesnt teach you the language no real form of teaching will ever teach you what you need to speak completely r... what its best used for as an aid it will help you learn quite faster if you combine it with ajatt. plus its something you can have with you always. check out tkyosam's channel he has talked abotu ajatt...also see unreseted's channel he has a review on this too.
@Mr123GOKU123 another great tip to learning is look for the childrens ds games for japanese kids... anpanman aiueo is great to learn teh kana alot easier and more fun also the set up is completely japanese and intended for kids to learn to read before goign to school so its gotta tell you something there.
@Mr123GOKU123 for watching tv in japanese there is subtitless anime but what i like is keyhole tv wher eyou are watching tv in japan as it is aired at teh same time you can google it to search for it its awesoem though laggy and what not ..good for free...veoh.com is a great place to dload and watch streaming japanese tv shows too
I have the game too I am still a pre-schooler though. -_- I heard there were a few mistakes on the strokes of the kanji. But I got myself a Japanese dictionary :). I planned to take Japanese Elementary at my university, but it always get full fast.
@colonm65 what this is great for is giving you the basics once you master the kana and you learn the basic of kanji and some of the main key words in speaking you go right on to ajatt all japanese all the time which you can learn more from there website or go to tkyosams website...save your money instead of the course at school just follow the system tkyosam does. later on if you want something on paper apply to take a jlptest
@colonm65 yeah that the flow and stroke order program isnt the best but it gives you enough to start with ...free school is awesome i'd do it if its free and well anything else free as well
This game is the best :D, ive played it for a week now, my grade is "1st Grader" and actually i can now speak pretty good :D how do u know that? well ive got a japanese friend and when we talked to eachother on skype, she couldnt seperate me from a real japanese, my ..... "japanese voice" was very good she said (sorry bad english :( ) thanks for this rewiew, i cant do more than agreeing in what u r saying :D, learn by doing u know ^^
@travenus im only on the vowels at the moment i have trouble remebering what the word is cause of the hiragana having to write it lol well good luck to us both in this game....can i add u as a friend ^^
im not sure maybe i heard wrong but sopposedly teaching samurai lessons to americans is banned just saying oh and awsome game hell yeah ima get i wanna go to japan too
I have heard so many bad things about this game but I really enjoy it yes it goes way too fast but it's really helped me learn kana and I learned a couple of new words so far. Of course you won't become fluent in Japanese with this but it's a great tool for beginners or someone who just wants to know enough to get around Japan.
Japanese for Busy People. Japanese Rosetta Stone. My Japanese Coach. Are all complete crap. They are useful for supplementing your learning while also learning from a university level textbook. There is no fun easy way to learn Japanese, its one of the most difficult languages to learn in the world. You need to sit down with a boring old textbook and study your ass off.
私は、完全な言語のコースも語学学習には絶好のスタートはそうは思わない...but hey they are study aids same with a text book the only way to learn is by doing and listening all japanese all the..its not the text book or classes its the person...if you disagree ask my friend tkyosam
hahaha college classes are a waste of time and money the only way to learn a language is by following a system and stickign with it without it you'll never learn i know alot of ppl that take a college course and never learn a think but how much money they wasted learning nana doko dare and arigato...
I have this game also but I found that it is not very good. If you are an extreme beginner, this is an okay game. If you know any Japanese I highly suggest getting a learning game from Japan directly. It'll be cheaper in the long run too.
Agreed. The only people that think this game is good are people who know absolutely nothing about Japanese. If you ever take a university class and then buy this game, you will quickly realize how much it sucks.
learn by doing you do not need a course and well its for beginners it teaches you the simple steps to start off and to be honest its an amazing aid for starting out but its not ment to be a complete language study guide learn by doing is the only way
i know this is a year later, but i got this for christmas along with the chinese one and the french one..they are super helpful and a great resource...glad someone finally came up with the idea of languages learning via ds
I have an original DS as well and I much prefer it, it sort of reminds me of a mini laptop I wanted when I was a kid ^_^
Mines just plain silver though, blah, but I put some cool stickers on it and they have not peeled or started to look bad and they've been on there for years...Until it dies I won't be getting a lite...
it helped out thats for sure they now have it as an app for the ipod touch..another thing i recomend is the ipod touch it has alot of great apps for kanji and hiragana and of course japanese music and videos you can downlaod and watch on it. another is check out tykosams channel and his advice on learning japanese i sorta was doing great but i kinda stopped there now because i'm going to china for teaching to gain experience so i'm learning that now wich they have the ds game too
Oh god, she's in a kimono. I was joking when I said something like "watch, the Japanese one is in a kimono or a geisha" after getting the Spanish one and the coach in that has a freakin' bandana.
hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have an old school phat ds as well :L well i got mine yesterday for £33 preowened (i got the old one because i only want it for this game band braintraining games so i see no advantages paying 4x as much for the lite model)
WTF there was nothing like this in the mid 90s. We handwrote our own flashcards and WE LIKED IT!
Twelve years ago all my coworkers and myself swore by the Sharp Zaurus. For handwriting recognition, for looking up Kanji on the fly, nothing has come close since then.
Next time I visit the States I need to go to a mall where they have one of those Rosetta Stone carts so I can scare the shit out of whoever's on shift.
lol rosetta stones are nice just harder to fit in your pocket...yeah man defently reconmend it its part of my 12 step program I'm doing...well not literaly twelve steps ...
Wow i really want this game but my mom is like "Why? Don't waste your money on that" but if it's really this great then i think i'm gonnaa say screw her, i'm buying it! =D
I may use it! :D By the way. I just got this game a few days ago and it's already taught me some words I didn't know (I already knew a little (VERY) Japanese. But this taught me the Japanese pronunciation of some words like anime, kamikaze Manga etc.. I can also now count to 19 in Japanese now, and say the days of the week. including those other words with them. I know it's probably not a big deal, but I am just proud of myself, and the game really works. You sorta learn through serendipity,
in a way, for example, when I was playing those games: ex. Muliple Choice and Hit-A-Word, I was doing actually that playing them, trying to win. While in the process I was learning. I knew the words. It's crazy. Anyway (sorry about the long comment. I had to explain.) Whoever invented this game is a genius. I want to learn Japanese, because I want to go to Japan someday (VERY MUCH!) as well and I'm (REALLY) interested in there culture and stuff. :D
By the way, (again :D) So, your are a cartoonist? What kind? (I mean like newspaper, comic, animation.) I plan to become a cartoonist too. Any advice on how to get your stuff out there? Thanks. (maybe we can talk about this sometime.)
I tested it yesterday and it looks quite promising, nothing to do with the other "My... Coach" series. Let's see how far I can go ;) Wish you the best in Japan and thank you for this review
