  • Nice. Ron Paul 2012.

  • Dear everyone, when watching this video. Play this song in the background.

    watch?v=w0XANdQj-f8&feature=channel_video_title

  • @InvincibleNumanist lol, awesome

  • Comment removed

  • @shanedk

It occurs to me I have no idea how long I should wait before giving up on receiving a reply. I would expect major Republicrat candidates to have staff that handle this in a week with a form letter that doesn't answer my questions, but I have no idea how long it would take a minor Independent to answer.

  • ShaneDK 2012!!

  • Ending with a gag National Lampoon used when we were kids?

  • @evensgrey I remember it being Mad Magazine.

  • @shanedk They might have done it, too, but I know I've seen a copy of the issue of National Lampoon. I checked, and it was the January '73 issue.

  • @evensgrey OK, I'm sure your research is more reliable than my memory.

  • You are subbed on both of my account, because sometimes I need to watch your videos twice to make sure I heard what I thought I heard. Sad that we are not accustomed to hearing the truth spoken aloud. I wish you had touched on the oppression of American citizens because of their sexual orientation and the systematic impoverishing of minorities through so called “entitlement programs”. I suppose not even your computer generated congress booing in the background would have stood for it.

  • @RationalismDefined Perhaps. Of course, I couldn't include every important issue or it would have been twice as long as the real SOTU address! I thought I was pushing it time-wise as it is. But you're right, they are hideously oppressed.

  • Cenk Unger is fat

  • @FartyFace Who?

  • @shanedk The dude from TYT.

  • unsubscribed.

  • @egeswender

    You won't be missed.

  • @vspqbd Hey! Thanks for being a dick! Way to represent!

  • @egeswender

    Right back atcha. ;)

  • A truer 6:52 minutes I have never heard.

  • @rkyeun you could PM me the response. i am interested =)

  • @Neeboopsh

I will when I get it. And if I remember it was on this video so I can find your name again.

  • I assume we can agree that SOME regulations are good. traffic lights, epa, food safety, etc. "the market will weed out dangerous foods" government should be more local (less federal power), and concern itself with public safety largely. small business is good business, large business, like intel or a telecom carrier, needs large capital to roll out new plans, but large business should have no more influence on govt, the age old debate, should wealth or intellect affect how many votes one has? no

  • @Neeboopsh "traffic lights" Shown to be completely unnecessary and actually makes traffic WORSE.

"epa" Overlooks the biggest polluter (government) and lets big corporations continue to pollute while putting the screws on small businesses and startups.

"food safety" Private safety certification bodies like UL work far better than government; most of the foodbourne illnesses of the last 30 years happened BECAUSE OF, NOT in spite of, government food "safety" regulations.

  • @shanedk SHANE I'm interested in the traffic lights making traffic worse evidence. Let me know, because that's one of the least counter-intuitive areas I can think of :)

  • @dakshinamurti See the work of Hans Monderman.

  • @dakshinamurti He's right about the traffic lights, here in Europe many countries are getting rid of them in some areas because of this

  • @Neeboopsh "small business is good business" Then you should be against every single regulation in existence. They ALL inhibit the ability of small businesses to profit and survive while protecting the big corporations from competition.

"large business should have no more influence on govt" The only way to avoid that is to remove the power from government in the first place.

  • @shanedk So, you'd do away with the EPA and FDA? I'd have to kindly disagree, sir. While it'd be nice if we didn't need some of these regulations, the fact is that we do. Business owners want to make money, that's the point. Dumping your industrial wastes out back and pandering your "miracle tonic!" is much cheaper than proper waste disposal and medical research. I know, those pesky environmental concerns just raise the price of doing business, but think about peoples motivations.

  • @Locke99GS I'd do away with the EPA, but I'd convert the FDA to a private standards body similar to UL. They work WAY better than government regulation.

"Business owners want to make money"

And they can't make money by polluting their or your property; only government ("public") property. If the waterways etc. were private that wouldn't happen; look up Fish Legal in the UK.

  • How do I subscribe twice with one youtube account? I need to subscribe again for this video ;)

  • shoot the Dog only if his is a politician or a Banker,or a Rothchild!!!...

  • Aw, leave the dog out of it! Despite that, great video, very honest.

  • You won me over with healthcare.

  • The ending was just wrong dude... left you on a completely wrong note going out.I know it has nothing to do with the content of the vid, but still. Very good points once again. I'm supporting Ron Paul in the coming election and who cares if it's throwing my vote away?

  • @Kakarot21591

Why Ron Paul and not R. Lee Wrights?

  • BRAVO! BRAVO! :clapping: :clapping:

  • faved and liked.

  • Embedding this into my blog. Nice job.

  • I am going to share the shit out of this!

  • U dunt no wut ur takin abowt, we cont giv up on he worron drugz ! we have seeriyus criem problum in thsi cuntry ! u wunt crimenals 2 go free ?

snd are soldyers r fiting 4 freedom !

  • I actually think Congress would just applaud.. Like mindless automatons that's all they do during these speeches...

  • @iluvatar003 Yeah, but that wouldn't have been as funny.

Although now that I think about it, I should have had one lone person clapping at the end (Ron Paul). That would have been funny...

  • Four people found your threatening the dog to be over the top.

  • @FletchforFreedom It's a Nerf gun. And chihuahuas have a 4000-lb bite force. I wouldn't stand a chance...

  • @shanedk Particularly since your chihuahua, like my beagle, is likely to resort to liquid biological warfare.

  • @FletchforFreedom And since my son shoved a marble into the Nerf gun rendering it incapable of firing.

My money'd be on the chihuahua.

  • What the austrians dont get is that money is not a resource. And gold is truly worthless for most technical processes. It' only get's it worth by an act of faith. That's not different from fiat money. But you can not printi, so much is true. I only own some because so many now belive in it.

  • @pcuimac Austrians don't claim that money is a resource in the context of which you speak. And gold has countless rela world uses particularly in certain high tech indistries. It is because it has value NOT created by an act of faith and because it was easily portable and divisible that it became ideal as a means of exchange.

  • @pcuimac "What the austrians dont get is that money is not a resource."

Support this with direct quotes from Austrian economists.

"And gold is truly worthless for most technical processes."

How does something's worth for one use make it useless in other areas?

"It' only get's it worth by an act of faith. That's not different from fiat money."

LAUGHABLY wrong. See my video, "What is Money?" /watch?v=EtF_zbI5j7M

Go RESEARCH something before poo-pooing it.

  • Are you really an Austrian? Or is this another satire? The problem is not to much government, it's bad government for the rich. Btw. Peak Oil is killing growth now! And shortages of all kinds will anihilate our now prosperous race. We will plunge back into the 1800. We will not go to the stars. It's sad.

  • @pcuimac The problem is too much governmnet spending and one of the eaiest ways to identify someone who doesn't understand economics or science or resource allocation is to wait for them to advocate Marxism, the Venus Project or the Zeitgeist Movement (but I repeat myself) or dredge p King Hubbert's nonsense.

  • @FletchforFreedom Or reference Krugman.

  • I thumbed it up though.

  • I still think you are naive.

  • WELL SAID

  • Can't help but dislike, just so people can be like "what what who the hell is this one guy who disliked this herp derp". Nah, jk, I liked it anyway.

  • @ForzaInternazionale9 Sorry bud, I think he's already married.

  • @ForzaInternazionale9 hello troll

  • You got me with the dog.....lol....great ch...Rich

  • I'm a bit scared to live here seeing how high the debt has climbed.

  • Great speech and Good Nite is always better than God Bless America. At least you don't hide behind some made up bullshit story.

  • @shanedk great idea, you should make a pedestal with flag etc. It would be great.

Giving a union any power is very very bad idea. No power for the UNIONS.

  • Funny part is some Joe Nobody (Biden?) will yell "You lie!" and media and consequently most people will pay more attention to him, than your entire truthful state of the union. My experience is that Americans will NOT accept reality even if it is placed in front of them, clear as day. The general attitude is.. "if I am not comfortable with it, then it must not be true".

My take is "I told you what I know, now I will wait and watch as it all burns down. Then I will do my 'I told you so!' bit".

  • @utubehayter I've been doing that bit since Obama took office...

  • What do you think of Keynesian economics? Are you a fan of Hayek / Austrian Economics?

  • @PlutoPowered Keynesian economics was so thoroughly falsified in the 1970s that only people dogmatic enough to want to can still think it has any validity whatsoever.

I'm a fan of the Austrian school, but I don't adhere 100% to it.

  • @shanedk It seems that our current situation is a result of Keynesian economics.

Simple reasons why you don't like the Austrian school?

I'm very new to economics (outside of micro and macro in college)....

  • @PlutoPowered "It seems that our current situation is a result of Keynesian economics."

    I think it's obvious.

"Simple reasons why you don't like the Austrian school?"

I DO like the Austrian school; I just think there are also some good parts of the (Friedmanian) Chicago school and some Macro as well. I don't agree with the wholesale poo-pooing of other schools the way a lot of Austrians do.

  • @shanedk I thought Friedman mainly agreed with Hayek?

  • @PlutoPowered They differed in a lot of ways. But there was a big crossover between them.

  • @shanedk

What about Socialism/Communism and/or Marxism (If you can even call those schools)?

  • @vspqbd I call them bogus. I don't see that they need any other label.

  • @shanedk That's true. I personally wouldn't call them "Schools of economics" for the same reason I wouldn't call Young Earth Creationism a "School of biology".

  • Shanedk for president 2012!

  • Ohdear

  • If I wasn't clear enough in my first comment---brilliantly written, and beautifully phrased. Well done Shane.

  • Thanks Shane, awesome as always.

  • The saddest part about your presentation is not how true it sounds, but the fact that those boos would be inevitable had someone given that speech in public. It's sad how brainwashed the people have become. It seems like there's no light at the end of the tunnel. R. Paul is losing out, while Romney keeps on gaining momentum. Oh, and Obama's approval ratings are still sky high. A sad sad sad day.

  • @regelemihai Just to be clear, those boos were supposed to be from members of Congress, to whom the President delivers the SOTU address.

  • @regelemihai "Oh, and Obama's approval ratings are still sky high."

Actually, Obama's third-year approval ratings are lower than any President since Jimmy Carter.

  • @shanedk

It's still bewilldering why it's hanging above the 40% margin. Almost half the country still approves of him.

  • @regelemihai Talk with an Obamaton for 5 minutes and you'll have your answer.

Actually, I don't know which is scarier, the Obamatons or the people who say, "Well, Obama hasn't been great, but I'm voting for him because he'll be better than the Republican." Do people NEVER learn?

  • @shanedk

I don't see the distinction. People who talk that way are Obamatons. No matter how bad the situation is, they'll keep on sticking by him. So no...People don't learn. It is for this reason we'll have to tolerate him for another 4 years.

  • @shanedk

    > Do people NEVER learn?

Who do you propose replacing him with?

  • @rkyeun R. Lee Wrights.

  • @shanedk

    Reading his issues pages now.

Do you know his stance on religion, separation of church and state, taxing churches, censorship, SOPA/PIPA, or abortion?

  • @rkyeun You should look around his website, LibertyForAllDOTnet. He runs the website, and has lots of articles from him and others on these subjects and more.

  • @shanedk

Looking now, but I'm interested in his opinions and not -- oh look, there's an article you wrote! :D How's that for self-promotion -- not those of others on the matter. I got most of my answers off his issues pages on the other site.

Oh, he has an e-mail address. I'll just write him and ask.

  • @rkyeun Please feel free to share his answers here.
