I heard it a few times when it first came out, then I heard it on "Batman & His Grandmother" about 20 to 25 years later and it reminded me of this song. Thanks to people like Dickie Goodman and my huge break-in collection, I've rediscovered quite a few songs I've forgotten about, mostly because radio has forgotten about them. Such a DIRTY shame that there's SO much music out there and radio hardly scratches the surface of what's outr there!!!! Especially oldies stations!!!!

I didn't hear this record back when it came out in 1966. I was familiar only with an excerpt that was used in the record "Batman and his Grandmother" by Dickie Goodman (which is what is known as a "break-in" record). I finally heard this song in 1978 when I took a pop culture course at a university, and the teacher played it one night. And then I didn't hear it again until I found it on YouTube.

@andressen My mother always liked "Rhapsody in the Rain" (by Lou Christie) for the same reason. I had no idea why until after she died. She probably would have liked "Lover's Concerto" by The Toys and "Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procal Herum as well.
