David Pearson is a wonderful race driver in 1970's, I never forgot him. I met him once in Spartanbrug,SC.My math teacher,Mr.Ayers and David were very good friends. Mr.Ayers brought me David's autograph on the postcard when I was a teenager.I always support David all my life!I grew up in Union County,SC.. Now I live in Anderson County.I wuld love to see David in person near the future. My oldest daughter lives in Cowpens, and my 2nd daughter is a senior at Gardner Webb University now.
1184 starts vs 574 starts. Pearson never ran a full season, and in the four years he was close to running a full season, he won 3 championships, and one third. Pearson only has three titles because of that, and if he had ran more races, he might be the one with 7 titles, and not petty.
From 1974 thru 80, I attended the Rebel 500 as a Boy Scout. Pearson won in 74, 76, and 80. A year earlier, there was the tire fiasco in the pits. But the Fox came back a year later and dominated in his first outing with Hoss Ellington.

David Pearson is the true King of Nascar! Just compare winning percentages versus starts. By the way, anyone know who sings this song?
