A different time and place. The seeds of a great sport were sewn during the 70's. I feel priviledged to have been a part. I enjoy Hangtown, Glen Helen (well I guess Pala this year), but you're correct. It is not, nor will never be like this again. Thank Heavens for 8mm movie cameras!
Great video - Marty Smith #9 Honda, Tony D #1 Suzuki (250 Natl Champ 1976), Danny LaPorte #7 Suzuki, Jimmy Ellis #19 CanAm, Rick Burgett #8 Yamaha, Bob Hannah #2 Yamaha (125 Natl Champ 1976) a little out of shape with his Scott boot in the air, and Kent Howerton on Husky #1 (wait a minute, can't be two #1 plates, and Kent was 500 Natl Champ in 1976 so he is #4 in this race).
I was a flagman at that race in one of the infields it was very HOT with nothing to drink! I think they paid me $10 for the whole day. I was 14 then and that was the first time to see those legends up close.
I am very happy that you posted this video. I was at this race. I was, and still am a huge Marty Smith fan. Thur your video i can once again relive that day. I was only 15 years old at the time. Now it's on my favorites. Thank you very much!
Thanks for sharing.

Thank God for water trucks. Until 1990 or so it was a dust bowl everywhere.
