@iaijin first of all the screams; screaming is supposedly the way kendoka's express their attitude and energy towards kendo. second, the multiple hits because, well, the more the merrier. and i guess the video supposed to be like a mini showreel of their members... i guess... i can only speak japanese but not read... :))

this sword style(kenjutsu) propose is one kill by my soul, so they hit again after hit partner. this style has no def fence, just offences. moreover, the unique scream meaning is to make falter to others. however, this style is not looks good and not useful now, so unfortunately, it will be obsoleted style, i guess.

・小太刀は脇差しなどの小太刀の技、再起、三ツ太刀は多数の敵を­想定した型である。

・立木打によって徹底した斬撃力と気力を養成し、段階的に精妙な­剣技を学んでいく。

その両面が完成して、初めて伝説に聞くような強さを発揮するので­はないだろうか。

ちなみに示現流は上級武士で自源流は下級武士が習っていたらしい­。

@henhun you don't need my permission to laugh for sure and you certainly don't need me to educate you, there is a very well known and old concept called research which is made even easier on the internet by a tool called "search engine", i highly recommend using the one called google. Something else the first laugh was ok since its reason was ignorance which BTW happened to me too but the second laugh comes from stupid inflated ego.

"screaming like a hobo kenjutsu"? somehow I doubt it is called that. it looked to me like the screaming was edited in but maybe not. with our without the screaming there is some very interesting sword work going on here and I'd like to know what it is. 樫の棒みたいなので、立ち木をひたすら撃つそうです。示現流は一­の太刀だけ、だそうですので、集団で戦う時に、全員でこれを徹底­すれば、相当、怖いのではないかなと思います。

Guys~ I think that absurd action and "scream", are for the practise only, including the kiai. I don't think they will do the same thing in the real fight.

But any way. I think we always do something "looks" stupit or absurd when we are practising. What ever in IAI, Kendo, driving or playing ball games... but we know that's work...

Hey, I said it "may" the practise. Some kind of worm up. There are many way to do one thing. We are not one of them, so I guest this is not good of us to judge them, because there maybe some thing we don't know the true meaning of they to do this.

The Jigen Ryu practitioner is screaming like that as a kiai and the constant nature of it is because as you can see they strike with rapidly. Also, the high pitch is to intimidate your opponent and shaken his defence. Think about it, some guy screaming like that at you while swinging a sword at you that fast and constantly pretty intimidating.

It can be looked at that way. But keep in mind that this was the dominant style for the entire Province of Satsuma and was quite feared throughout Japan. Even today it is considered the most aggressive style of kenjutsu in existance as well as the most combat effective style left today.
