Love my Spartan on my 2010 6.4 Have u had any trouble running the 250 tune. at times makes my tranny slip when ur running a constant speed, let up, then get back in the throttle. only when you ease into it.

@DavidSlagter Its a diesel engine. That black smoke is extra fuel that isnt getting burned. When these vehicles have large power adders or tuners and such they will make them smoke more because alot of extra fuel is given for more power.

@DavidSlagter Agree'd, to a certain degree these trucks can be outstandingly fast and hardly even smoke. IF tuned correctly. But that only happens to a certain degree, and half the time people just like seeing the freakin smoke thinkin it makes them look cool or as if they have a faster truck than they really do. But in trucks that have some actual work done...injectors/turbo/fuel system/oil system upgrades and stuff. Those trucks really do need to have that much fuel pushed to them.

Spartan Diesel Tune or Trans or Both. I have the Spartan Diesel 210 HP tune and a 5" DPF and Exhaust. Truck is super fast. But the trans can use some work.

@odoyley69 The Powerstroke does, yes. The gas motors aren't too bad, but the 6.4 is basically the 6.0 all over again. We see TONS of 6.0/6.4's roped in from high pressure oil/fuel failures from chips and tunes (among many other failures), hardly any Cummins/Duramax stuff though.

i am a duramax boy and i know how stout our trucks are with a lift pump, efi, and exhaust. but there's not a whole lot that dollar per mod can beat a 6.4, tuner,intake,exhaust and you can hit 500hp. and at that juncture you're just waiting on the transmission to die

There is a big difference between the 6.0 tuning and the 6.4. You will never find a 300+hp tune for a 6.0. The 6.4 is so loaded down with emission junk that there is huge gains to be made with just removing the dpf and what not.

I have an '06 and by far the best tuner for a 6.0 is SCT. Custom tuning is the best you can do for "easy hp" for the 6.0 sadly. If you are looking to get past the 450+rwhp, you better have deep pockets. I am waiting to see what the new 6.7 will do!

The biggest "Chip" I have seen for the 7.3 is 150hp. Take a 7.3 vs a 6.0 both with tunes/chip and an exhaust..the 6.0 will walk on a 7.3 like a 6.4 with dpf/egr delete and tunes will walk on a 6.0.

Again, if you want to get a 7.3 into the 450+hp range you need bigger pockets than the 6.0. Each generation of powerstroke has been a big step from the previous one. The 6.4 is a hell of a motor.

the early 03-04 were the worst. The 05-07 have a updated head bolt so they are a bit better. All the years still have problems with the egr cooler, which usually leads to head gasket problems. delete the cooler and toss in some head studs and you got a pretty good truck.
