@DesertLynx83 its not that iron chef America is crappy its different morimoto is on America theres also some great chefs there like cat kora or symon even battali id mention flay but i hate him plus the chairmen is the japan chairmen nephew
im italian so this is probably my favorite episode, super funny too. i love the reenactment videos of the italian chefs....if u look in black text in the middle of the screen it says Serie A
@DesertLynx83 料理の鉄人(Original Iron Chef) is WAY better than Iron Chef America in EVERY way. I might be a little biased, though. Hahahahaha. Sakai, Michiba, Kobe and Kenichi are the best.
I still don't get it... how is it that Japanese people keep refusing to say "L" in almost any language that has it... but had no problems with the restaurant name....
The consonant in the Japanese language that is transliterated as "R" is actually halfway between "R" and "L". So for someone who has only passing skill in English, turning the L into that in-between sound is a common mistake to make.
I know about that problem... the thing was more about... I know japenese can say "L" sounds without a problem... but in general they refuse to do so......
An interesting observation leads me to conclude that the English "R" is an aberation. Throughout Europe and the MidEast (but most distinctly in Slavic lands), the rs are basically like ls, only vibrated (those who speak in Teutonic, Slavic, or various Semitic languages can see how the tip of the tongue touches the roof of the mouth).
The English r is made with the same movement as the consonents y, g, k, ng and the vowell "ee". Very unusual and unprecedented.
There is a large Italian Population in the United States, do you think this is where the loud nature of many Americans comes from? I mean this honestly, as an American who enjoys his solitude.
Supposedly, when they had a foreign guest, the show's producers would ask them to play up stereotypes. Bobby Flay was asked to play up the "ugly, arrogant American" stereotype. I'm assuming they asked the Italians to be especially loud and boisterous.

It's so funny how they add a sound effect for when Kaga bites the bell pepper. It sounds like he's biting into a handful of chips.

From the looks of those Italian spectators, Bell Peppers must be their specialty ingredient.

'REACHING HEIGHTS UNDREAMED OF!!!!! THE LEADER OF ITALIAN CUISINE IN JAPAN????'
come off it, he doesn't even own his own restaurant... is he even head chef? does he have a michelin star?
doubt it!

Kobe's sprint to the platform could inspire a new olympic sport: Iron Chef Triathlon. The three segments would be Running, Chopping, and Cooking.
