Rudeness for the sake of appearing tough before his liberal homies-- it's just hard to watch. I can barely stand to listen to liebermans whiny bleating but it was hard to see the old dude unnecessarily insulted by someone in the chairmans seat of the senate. I've always been a fan of al franken who is brilliant and articulate-- this was bad form. It was hurtful and ugly.
I don't think it was an insult. Franken was serious that he objected. The old man was not hurt by the objection since he laughed and said it wasn't anything personal. I don't know how you get "hurtful and ugly" out of that exchange. It's not like he shouted out "You lie."
