How are you affording all this? You mentioned in another video you make maybe $5000 a year. The climate your in wouldn't support a garden (or at least most of the year). So what do you do for food. You have solar panels(not cheap), batteries, tools, computer(s), etc
I don't buy garbage. Thats about it. I know it sounds simplistic, but I see people buying garbage all the time.
I spend about 2000 a year. I cook so food is 1/10 the cost of restaurant food (and better), I have 1000$ worth of solar panels. They're a one time purchase, though. I have very few bills.
if your batterys are sitting on cement that concrete is draining them slowly... may wanna elevate them about 4"-6" also vent them as Hydrogen is seeping off them its the by product of the reaction
so vent and elevate those batteries and hope you don't get any frog turds in your bath water ROFL
your living my dream bud keep up the videos like to see your pitfalls and progress
Hey Jamie, I was wondering what your opinion was on the whole 2012 controversy. PS. I post on this video because I want to use this idea in something for my own house =D
uhh..... 2012.... lets see... is this one of those "the earth is gonna blow up things???
Oh, or is there a crisis where Jaimie will be lying on a beach with naked ladies all over him?
Well, I think the first one is just plain silly. ....and the second one is more likely, however still not that likely... but if being in a dog pile with naked ladies saves the world, I'll do it.
Ok... watch the giant robot 20 video. See what I do at the end of carrying my main robot part up the mountain? Thats my response to this! BLABLABLABLABLA!!!
Are you going to start back on the robot or the tower soon? Or more work.
With the solar panels(the main ones) how mush juice do they actualy make an hour or minute? You said 65 watt, but is that just the output or is that how much they gain per/unit of time? Probly a stupid question.
Hmm. Lots sof people have difficulty with understanding what a watt is. Watts are like the speed of the electricity coming in. (actually power, but most people don't know that terms definition). So, I'm getting electricity at about 100watts in full sunlight.
If I get that for an hour, I can run a 100watt light bulb for an hour. or... a 50 watt bulb for 2 hours. 25 watt bulb for 4 hour etc.
(this isn't taking into account inefficiencies. The system probably loses about 30%)
I think it's way more dangerous putting yourself in a lazy environment! There are tons of bad outcomes from living a lazy lifestyle, including bad health. Yes, bad health can be life threatening!
Ya! Exactly! ...then there's the danger of having a boring life. How horrible would that be to be on your death bed, and look back and see 70 years of nothing!
You need a windmill that would look so cool on top of the dome. just get another alternator and make one. You should totally start a dome colony up there on robo-mountain. a bunch of people building crazy things and having fun. But not like hippies cause they smell bad and smoke funky drugs.
Great video jaimie- What kind of results has your bike gotten in terms of generating electricity? How much battery life will running your sewing machine consume?
You might seriously want to at least look into this, this is a direct threat to your type of lifestyle. Anyways your doing good thinking outside the box, and it's nice to see. -holla
Ya... there are threats to everyones freedom. Its unfortunate. It almost seems like the only way to be free is to be small enough that no one cares about you.
It's how much current that flows through you that matters.
I believe 30mA running through you is enough to kill you.
But in order to get that current to flow through you, there needs to be enough voltage to create that current through your body, because you body has a pretty high resistance (unles you're wet and barefooted)
...although even being wet and barefoot, its still not THAT easy to kill yourself with electricity. Not like in the movies where 120 volts makes lightning shoot out of your head. ha ha
Oh man. Now I think you just wantd to say boobies! ha ha. I don't think that because I like to say boobies. ...incase anyone was accussing my of saying boobies because I like to say the word boobies. Its such a funny work. BOOOOO BEEES.
Well after the blackboard made it's second appearance I immediately scanned it for boobies and was delighted when I found them so we now have a PAIR of boobies! :-)
I like coal, especially opencast mining with the huge excavators. And at least it gets turned into clean leccy, and I'm a Co2 sceptic. Now petrol isn't so good. I'd like to be able to burn hydrogen or use leccy in my car and get rid of the localised pollution and make the air clean, like it is at the top of Scarfell peak.
Ohh... ya. I like how they turn mountians into prairies by mining the coal. Pretty sweet.
Seriously.... I want to build a solar powered RV. The roof covered in solar panels. They charge the batteries. ...when they're full I can go. ...when they're empty, its time to hang out and smell the roses. ...or vanilla. mmm, vanilla.
I have a laptop. In the dome, I plug it in to power it. :-P I even have a digital projector for movies. mmmm, movies in the dome. They look so much better there.
I don't have internet there (but might get it later). Right now I take my computer to the library, or pizza place, or anywhere in town a mile away that has internet.
I'm reluctant to get internat at the dome because it CAN be a waste of time very easily.
lol how will you get it? build a super COOL satilite of course that at any time you can blow up a rocket thats in space with! "also with internet connection"... how you like that project.
Actually... its about 50$ a month to get satellite internet. I think I'd just pay that. ...unless of course someone gives me a satellite... parts to build a satellite with lots sof rocket fuel ...or like a million dollars to do it with.
Okay first off I want to say you are the man! I am impressed with everything you have done. Next I would like to ask if you are aware of the threat of a new world order heading twards us rapidly with globalization? If not please check out, "ring of power", "zeitgeist", "freedom to fascism", "money as debt", and "money masters". This should get you started. Researching this led me to discover Nikola Tesla (one of the most brillant minds in recent history). Keep it up! You give me hope.
Ya. We live in a world controlled by assholes. its frustruating. I don't understand why people would even want to control other people.
It must be a lonley life being surrounded by people who have no free will. They may as well be dead. i'd rather be surrounded by people who are full of life.
Oh Boy xD , Can't wait to se some new progress on your giant rawbawt :B , how long is it till you'll be able to continue on it? Anyway it's great that you give us updates on your other apparature aswell :)
Naw.... no world domination. I like people to do what they want, and I want them to let me do what I want. ...as long as no one is messing up anyone elses ability to do what they want.
I guess I'm more of a revolutionary than a usurper.

ah, so thats why a tower! I guess that (the height for a windmill) and more useful floorspace out of a given footprint.
How high do you intend to make it?
dustnghost1 3 years ago
Yep. that. :-)
I'm planning to make the tower around 70ft tall for the main part. That'll get me to the top of the trees, and a 360 degree view.
Then there will be a skinny windmill tower ontop. ...going up another 30ft.

The bike is great! I can set it to different wattages. I usually set it to around 150watts while I'm riding it.
...and a sewing machine doesn't use much electricity at all. I've never had a time when I couldn't use my sewing machine.
JMEMantzel 2 years ago
Actually, I know some real hippies. They don't smell bad or do drugs. The stinky drug users are the poser hippies.
