Stern used to revel in celebrity criticism. He started up wars with famous dingbats to grab ratings. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but why is he bothered by any of this?
funny how he did Pierce morgan's show and that hasn't helped. Pierces show blows and the ratings are horrible. At least king was funny when he was old and crazy. How can you say his show didn't work though? He's in the Guniness Book for longest show by a host at the same time slot for the longest period of years.
howard is one of the best interviewers in the world. His empathy is unparalleled which results in him asking sincere and interesting questions. Other hosts don't think to ask these. People just think he is dirty or depraved because he is interested in sexual and bathroom habits as well as other "taboo" subjects. Also his ability to get information from his guests is remarkable. People answer off the wall questions from Howard that they wouldn't answer if asked by almost any other person.
@TheWillIamLee87 You hit the nail on the head. Howard can be insensitive and mean, but he is a natural empath! I learn so much every time I listen to one of his interviews. The guy is a genius communicator because he knows it's not all about talking, it's equally about the ability to LISTEN. And you're right: the way he can hone in on one bit of information that the guest says and start digging and digging-- Christ, he's like a shrink! Larry King, in contrast, is like talking to a wall.
