My goodness this looks absolutely delicious! I actually just posted about chili today on my site, one of my co-workers brought some in and shared the recipe. ;)
Happy New Year, hon! And I'm really anxious to try this recipe for the hubby. Could I skip the third day, and add the beans on the second, or is it worth waiting? I want it to be great the first time around.
@SajidaAsha Hi there! I am sorry I missed this! Thank you for coming by! You can make this in one day of you would like. No problem. Happy New Year to you!
@Perroquet51 Marc! I am happy to hear from you my friend! Hope this year exceeds your expectations! This chili is absolutely delicious. Highly recommended! Take care!
On March 9, 1731, a group of sixteen families arrived at Bexar, the villa of San Fernando de Béxar (now know as the city of San Antonio). They had emigrated to Texas from the Spanish Canary Islands by order of King Philip V. of Spain. These families founded San Antonio’s first civil government which became the first municipality in the Spanish province of Texas. According to historians, the women made a spicy “Spanish” stew that became known as chili.
According to an old Southwestern American Indian legend is said that the first recipe for chili con carne was put on paper in the 17th century by a beautiful nun, Sister Mary of Agreda of Spain.Sister Mary wrote down the recipe for chili which called for venison or antelope meat, onions, tomatoes, and chile peppers.
"Chili concocted outside of Texas is usually a weak, apologetic imitation of the real thing. One of the first things I do when I get home to Texas is to have a bowl of red. There is simply nothing better."
Lyndon B. Johnson, 36th President of the United States
@BearStar1 Wow! I celebrate your love for your chili! Bravo! Kindly stop harassing us. If you do not like this recipe don't make it. You make your chili your way I will make mine my way. Enough is enough. Thank you.
@pastryparrot1 How in the Sam Hell is providing documented facts about the Orgin and History of Chili harassing Anyone ??? I am just trying to prove that Authentic Southwestern Spanish-Mexican StyleChili that originated in the early 1700's did NOT have Beans in it! Just Meat, onions, tomatoes, and chile peppers! AND the Chili dishes cooked and entered in the various State-wide Chili Cook-Off Competions in TEXAS does not allow Beans of any kind in the Chili dishes! That's the RULES !
I never said anything about not liking this video or your receipe, other than the fact that authentic Southwestern Spanish-Mexican Style Chili has NO Beans in it! And True authentic Chili did not originate in Mexico!
It's orgin is San Antonia, Texas in the early 1700's (1731) by a Spanish Nun, Sister Mary of Agreda of Spain.
How anyone can dislike a cool video like this is not understandable, did the dislikers actually try it? No one should dislike a recipe if they have not tried it. When I was in the Army during basic you could drop this in dirt and soldiers would fight for every last bit of it dirt and all, that is no BS I have seen it happen with food not as good as this. So to dislike this recipe is stupid. You say a prayer and thank GOD for this kind of food.
YOU DON'T PUT BEANS IN CHILI!!! Beans are a separate Side Dish! Real authentic Mexican Chili has NO BEANS, and it's NOT served with Crackers!
It's served with Tortilla Chips, or Jalapeno Corn Bread, with diced onions and shreded Cheddar or Colby Jack Cheese on top before serving in individual bowls! That's how it's done in Texas!
@BearStar1 Check out my video on Swiss chard and leek pie foe an answer to your all capitals remark. Thank you very much for coming by and for the lesson. Have a wonderful day.
@oldsloane That's all well and good, BUT It's NOT Authentic Southwestern Spanish/Mexican Style Chili! And It's NOT the way they do Chili in Texas! In ALL of the Chili Cook-Off Competions, BEANS are NOT Allowed! AND if someone does use beans in their chili dishes during the judging , they are automatically Disqualified from the Competion! Beans are Always a Side Dish, NEVER in the Chili! I don't give a rat's ass what you Canadians put into YOUR version of Chili, In Texas, it's a NO-NO!!!
@oldsloane Well go ahead and put '' Beans '' in your Chili, but THAT is NOT Authentic Southwest Spanish Chili! Google and research the orgin and history of Authentic Southwest Spanish Chili and you'll find out the bloody well Truth, Yank! What in the Sam Hell would a Canadian know about Authentic Southwest Spanish/Mexican Chili? NOT A DAMN THING!
@cariormiga Encantada! Estoy de viaje pero si podrias mandarme un email la proxima semana y recordarme yo te mando la receta traducida. Que estes bien!

@sparkle11231 I agree whole heartedly. What a loser. Some people have no clue and no decent bone in their pathetic body. Who would use a name like Stalag? A prisoner of war compound. Geez........
@Tim22410 -- Lol. I know. What a maroon! (as Bugs Bunny used to say it.) But you'd be surprised - and probably shocked - by some of these screen names. A lot of them are people trying to be clever!
The family loved this. However, I only got to the stage of cooking it for three hours. Instead of adding beans (which I didn't have and my family are not too keen on), I just served this up as a beef curry. Yummy! :-D
I am not sure where my previous reply went . . . at any rate, thank you so much for letting me know. I am very happy you guys loved it! Thanks. A lot!!
