I am talking about media stereotypes. We DON'T know the context of the picture that was shown in the video. We can ONLY assume that they were hunting. Spin it however you want. If their complexions had been a little darker and that picture hit youtube...it would have been a completely different reaction. African-Americans are automatically born with three strikes against us.

The double standard argument against Palin refers to her gender. If gender is the basis of the double standard argument then the scrutiny should be off limits as much as as it would be had it been a racial double standard. James Carvil spoke of Mrs. Palin's lack of experience on the Larry King live show and was immediately accused of being disrespectful to women. The republican party is as you said unprepared for the backlash. I've seen a few interviews where the question of Mrs. Palin's experience comes into play while each republican representative dodges the question of how they really feel about her. Who knows what will happen......

I think the Republicans are trying to keep her from scrutiny on the basis of her being a female, crying sexism over every single bit of scrutiny. On the same vein, they called Obama a whiner whenever he tried to speak against their constant lies about him. It is never about policy but rather Obama, Palin, Hurricane Gustav, etc because they have no platform other than drilling more oil, keep the tax breaks for the rich and corporations in place, and ending reproductive rights.
