You don't realize this but one reason why fixed is faster when climbing is because the momentum of the drive-train is pushing the bike up. But I know you won't go out and try this. And no, I am not a hipster.
hmm do any pro road bikers use fixed gears? no the fastest way going up hill is using a lower gear. fixed gear could have a slight advantage uphill if you stand and pump like wild. but its less tension on your legs using a lower gear. and on straight aways with a large gear you can go faster. fixed gear is not for racing pro road bikers coast on downhills and tuck. a fixed gear you pedal constantly. a single speed i could maybe see but not a fixed gear

ummm no. you can go up hills faster in a lower gear. also fixed gears are for hipsters and hipsters are faggots.
