  • you want the simple answer? SCII was designed by social engineers and programmed by monkeys.

  • If you wanted to move your marines to the barracks, don't use the attack command on the racks or else they'll attack it instead of moving to it -_-'

  • One scenario this is a huge problem is you tell a bunch of zerglings to kill a building that is straddled by a few other buildings. The lings will not attempt to attack the exposed surface area of the building on the opposite side of this clump of structures. They will all bunch up near the closest exposed face of the building. Overcoming this with micro requires you to select the exact optimal number of lings to send to the other side, and then attack.

  • Is it just me? Or is this a video about someone complaining 1a marines don't work as well in sc2 as 1a marines in sc1? And trying to find a way to make that a bad thing?

  • Thumbs up for barracks penis.

  • good micro - solution of your problem

  • @GUARDIANOFFOR wow fail comment on your part, you should go back to school learn some grammar cause that unreadable............

  • 1 word. Micro

  • Imagine there's an enemy bunker around one of the sides, you'd have to take time to keep your fucking units from running all over the goddamn place.

^Running all over the place was the cause of so much loss in sc1 lol

  • This is the biggest issue with Immortals, they walk around like idiots when engaging because of their short range.

  • Good Path finding doesn't help you micro better.

Blink Microing is a great example

  • this is waay better

    atleast you won't lose units

  • pathing is part of the game, all players must learn it, and adapt to it. if ur micro aint good enuf try practising ur micro instead of wasting a whole bunch of time making this vid.

  • This is why you down lower the standards for your army down to death row inmates!

  • It would make easier, but I like it as it is, needs more skill to play it that way and blink would become almost useless (expect ambushes of course)

  • If you let the computer move your units for you, you're bad.

  • @MahajiHaji The game is based on SC1, if they changed it for a reason it would be nice to here that reason. And how this game works the units move based on where you CLICK that is HOW you move them, and the units do not move to where you click when a unit is blocking its path that is attacking/repairing ect.

  • @mindlesstube they do this new thing called swarming, its to help your troops move together better

  • @MahajiHaji Certainly the best players know how to micro-- the author Im sure understand that. However his point is still valid, and your point is lazy as we all know that late game you cant micro every single group of marines and it would suck to be losing large amounts of men over terrible path finding.

  • @mikesaltzman1 No bitch

  • @MahajiHaji The computer always moves the units for you. All the user does is select a destination...

  • The algorithm is called flow field. Blizzard implemented it to minimize micromanagement. Starcraft 2 is a whole new game, so deal with it.

  • their*

  • please try to imagine your desired pathing and the consequences. If you really want the marines to split off, go alllll the way around and attack that barracks, then you're going to have armies splitting and getting out of position ANYTIME they don't have a direct path. Thank god you don't work for blizzard.

  • No.... cuz then sometimes in the middle of the map your army may very well get split up too easily cuz the choke you're going through was too tight for the entire ball of units

  • I dont think it need to be fixed....the game getting so easy to play...i think its fine like that...the play must control his unit too...

  • This is still relatively minor compared to the blatantly obvious pathing problems in sc bw and even wc3. Sometimes in those games units will repeatedly get stuck trying to run into obsticles instead of taking a much longer way out, simply because they are trying to follow some shortest path formula without accounting for obsticles. Or units will run all over the place when you try to move in a line formation, simply because the ones at the back bump into the front instead of moving in sync.

  • Aaaa disliked. I think this is not an issue. I would rather not have units run off on obscure and distant paths to reach a target. Ya this isn't a far distance, but where is the limit when you're unit has traveled 6x the shortest distance somewhere down the map while you're trying to find it. Micro your units better in SC2 and get over it, man.

  • send this video to blizzard, also make a thread in the sc2-blizzard forum. and link it here. so everyone signs in, <- the more users the greater chance for blizzard to look into it.

  • This is actually a huge problem with zerglings banelings and chargelots, they will sometimes turn around while climbing a ramp or run another random angle and attempt to run through a nearby unit that is attacking, this is obviously a bug since blizzard made units able to move through other units with the push mechanic, it's that new mechanic that is treating all units as pushable even when in hold, or attack position

  • "in SC2 the units can not seem to find there way around."

  • Comment removed

  • Their, not there!!! ugh

  • Zealots are probably the dummest units of starcraft 2

  • I've personally always hated how the units fight anyway...if I have a group selected, then the last unit able to fire should be the lead in firing, so that when you get on point, everyone fires in unison. You can micro from that point by dropping the front (who got damaged) to the rear, which pulls the damagers forward even more...but I guess the tech hasn't advanced that far yet.

  • This is not a one click game. Plus, your enemies won't build bunch of barracks blocking your paths anyways. In addition, there are air units at your disposal; so no, blizz will not heed on this trivial complaint.

  • @wachinichu What are you even blabbering about? The issue is pathing. Did units get stupider since sc1? It's not ok when units get bunched up and stupid when there is a clear path right next to them. I guess if you're a fanboy, Blizzard can't do anything wrong. I'ts not trivial. SC2 Hasn't even gotten through BETA yet, you dumbass.

  • nothing a little micro can't fix

  • There are some up and downs to this, although the units should probly find a path instead of w8ing.

But, sometimes it is annoying send a big army through a few tight points, or ranged units tring to attack one unit ( which can be fixed with some good micro) where as they dont get seprated so easily when your tring to get your units to point A, or kill building B.

  • @Darkwolf5656 Thats true... could be intentional I guess. If that is the case I think we should be able to choose as in toggle an on and off button for unit formations maybe? I guess we should just take it for what it is and get used to it. Maybe they did want to add more micro for units by doing it this way.

  • Word this needs to be fixed

  • why don't you post a video with a better test to prove your point?

  • @ch3dder SC2 has great path finding when it comes to moving around structures and what not. But when it comes to units, the units in SC2 expect those units to move for them so they do no bother finding any other path. So they need to fix that by making units move around other units as if they were structures.

  • @mindlesstube thats probably so they don't wander off the group and get picked off one by one without you knowing it. i think its better the way it is on sc2.

  • not exactly a fair test, since the SC1 barracks were horrizontal, and the sc2 barracks are placed vertically on the board.

  • @ch3dder same thing happens. If u have SC1 or SC2 try it out for your self if yah do not believe me.
