  • Can you please tell me if 800 or 850watts is enough too run 2x 7970?

  • @Jamielebleu1 well maybe but i u can buy 2x 7970 just go with a 1000w psu :)

  • @Jamielebleu1 It's enough. It really is.

  • @silvervolt7 Thank you I think I'm going for the Corsair ax850 and maybe I just stick with one 7970

  • @Jamielebleu1 You could crossfire 7970's on a 850watt power supply.

Unless you're running a tri crossfire/sli or quad, you'll never need more than 1000 watts.

  • how much would all that energy you need to power it cost you a month?? lets say we use it for 5 hours a day, 4 days per week

  • U can run two computers on that single power supply

  • @Adam13115511 The power, yes. With one ATX connection, no.

  • do i get the gold or the bronze?

  • Hang on Floopy, Floopy hang on)

  • thanks for the info, my son and i are researching our first computer build and i think we've found our psu. keep up the good work.

  • so how many PCI E connectors does it have overall?

  • Comment removed

  • I would spend more to get the 1200w edition in case for future modification.

  • quieter than seasonic x850?

  • hi guys, is this enough to power my pc when processor i7 970@4ghz and 2x gtx 580 sc sli both overclock? or need 1200w psu? my comming specs:

    intel i7 970 to 4ghz

    corsair dominator 12gb 1600

    intel ssd m-x25 120gb

    2x evga gtx 580 superclocked to 900mhz

    2 hd wd

    coolermaster silent pro gold 1000w

  • @donhoren If you don't know, yet you can apparently oc your 970 to 4ghz, then you are a massive n00b.

  • @donhoren i don't know how to overclock any processor yet but i'm currently researching it how to, ,, i asked this question inorder for me to be safe when overclocking any of my hardware coz i'm a newbie... and my first time building a system myself. i was just a little confuse, coz some forums says 850 is enough to run an sli, yet some relly suggested strongly that 1200w is the right psu for that...

  • How's this PSU with the following speccs:

    NZXT Phantom

    ASUS Maximus IV Extreme B3

    i5 2500k

    GTX 590*2

    Corsair Vengeance™ DDR3 1600MHz 8GB

And a couple of Western Digital Caviar® Black 1TB

    Will this PSU be suffiecent?

  • @KingKjellboy if you going too have 2 590s then you need 1200w +

  • @simme300 Aah, okay. Thanks for answering my question. :)

  • If u want to go with the 700watt edition of this psu can i have 2 gtx 570 with that our should i get and better psu?

  • I hope this psu powers this system:

    Nzxt phantom

    Ga-890fxa-ud5

    Cooler master v8

    Amd phenom ii x4 970

    Kingston hyperx 3x4gb modules

    2x radeon hd 6950 crossfire

    2x wd1002faex raid 0

  • @RATSHADY I will, without any hassle whatsoever! I guarantee it to you bro!

  • What brand is better when it comes to making power supplies. OCZ or Coolermaster?

  • @DemonToad14 Cooler Master.

  • Fail?

it says floopy 4 pin connector, it should be Floppy...

  • Great Product! Im Getting it To power my indoor Car Radio, Amp, And Equalizer.

    Contest winner! Plz

  • If you are going to review a power supply, open it up and show us around. Reading off the Cooler Master website doesn't do us any good.

  • Such an ugly color scheme.

  • how much $ ?

  • This things a beast!

    That's what she said.

  • @Churchboy587 fail lol

  • would you reccommend this for a HTPC?

  • @redfire58

Overkill for an HTPC. Always go for practicality.

  • would you reccommend this for a HTPC

  • nice♥

  • I've got the 700W of this and it's reeeaaaly nice!

  • did it say 'Floopy*' iso Floppy ?????

  • Software for fans?

  • Floppy Pins? 0.o 0:56

  • One thing I have to say about this power supply. It has higher ripple than you would like. This is going to have affects on a high end computer trying to overclock to the max. If you intend to say push your ram or cpu to it's limits, then you might not be able to due to mediocre ripple suppression.

  • @toktokk666 wtf are u talking about lol im sure im not the only one that is thinking this =)

  • @MiniExtreme I'm talking about the ripple of a power supply. If you really want to know the effects of bad ripple, I suggest you read an article about it. Send me a pm if you're really interested and can't find an article yourself.

Also, if you want a thorough review of this power supply, I would recommend going to johnny guru's website.

Efficiency is not as important as everyone thinks. Just because a power supply is gold efficiency, does not mean it's good.

  • PCWizKid, Is it posible to over power a system with to high of a power supply? P.S. is there also a good way to squeeze some more life out of my Ubuntu system? (without buying more hardware.) SPECS: CPU: 2.66 GHz* Intel Pentium 4 Memory: 512MB PC2700 DDR-SDRAM HDD: 120GB WD 1 CD-ROM Drive GPU: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 (64 MB) (W/ DVI Connector)*Generic Version* The gpu is a generic version that came with the system (NVIDIA Chipset)
  • @JeremyB796 No an oversized PSU will do no damage to a system that doesn't need it, the PSU will only draw what it needs. The benefits of having a higher wattage PSU is that it gives you room to grow.

Ubuntu doesn't need a powerful system to run, IMO I don't think you would see any performance boost by upgrading...but if you wanted to maybe increase your ram a little.

  • @WestCoastMods well i was hopeing a response for pcwizzkid but oh well...

thx for the hint i thing i have 256MB of ram someweres would that help?

  • @JeremyB796 yeah, that would help as long as it has the same specs of the ram already in your setup.

  • PcWizKid I would like you to thank you for this video review

  • Cool.

  • Comment removed

  • nice review :)

  • PC Wiz Kid, you're videos are very helpful and intuitive. Anyway would these parts work together without a bottleneck?

    Intel i7 950 (3.02ghz)

    Nvidia GTX 470

    6GB DDR3 2000 MHz

and a Antec 750w PSU? Thanks for you're time and keep up the good work!

  • @LACHandLOAD that would work fine

  • What is that weird 5-pin cable @ 1:17 ?

  • @GuitarJerk13 Thats the connector that plugs into the PSU

  • I'm running on a

    Intel Core2 Quad Cpu Q8300 @2.50GHz at 2239.5MHz

    4Gig RAM

Windows 7 64 bit home premium

    1Gig ATI HD 5750

    total price £500

    Is that anygood?

I'm thinking of upgrading the powersupply for new Graphics card and bigger monitor, would this be wise?

I really like you videos btw, very informative!

    Thanks.

  • I just bought the 800 watt version of this power supply from newegg on black friday sale. I'm very happy.

  • Can you tell me which is better PSU maker? Xigmatek, Cooler Master, Antec, FSP or Silverstone. In my country, we are limited to these companies.

  • 0:50 Large PSUs may do not fit in a small or mid tower case. but I never heard that somebody had a problem installing a PSU in a full tower case.

1:05 The modular cabels are thin which is good, but why are the other cables which are hardwired to the PSU are not in that thin style..

  • It's really good especially since its Gold certified.

  • How did you test the load?

  • do you recommend this over the Corsair HX 1000 W or Corsair AX 850 W?

  • I want a floopy drive! lol

  • Are you actually a kid?

  • @PCWizKid do u know the name of the new windows coming out next year?

  • Are you not allowed to open it?

  • lol i stick with my zalmann 1000w. :)

  • @Xextreem

zalman sucks balls compared to seasonic.

  • @BIGDADDYF50 lol dude the zalman i have is 3 years old without any problems. even with a 2xhd5970 and 1xgtx580 monsters it will not let me down. :) i think i got lucky then

  • @Xextreem yer umm.... dude is that even possible to have 5 GPUs ?

  • @MiniExtreme yah sure i can not use 5 gpu (at the same time in 1 game or programm however) 4 = maxs current software but yes you can have 5 its no problem, so 1 gpu of the ati hd5970 gets offline or i use the 5 gpu for youtube vids or windows depending offcourse how and what.. but again i need the pshyx and thats not the gpu but a hardware inside the gtx. so you get the picture i think.

  • does it have any coil whine? my corsair 750watt sounds alot :/ i need to buy a new one

  • A modular power supply is meant to have as few non-modular cables as possible... why would most of the cables be non-modular! They're not even the skinny cables he showed at the start!

  • Is a single 12 V rail better or multiple , does it even matters if both psu's got the same total power like 70a. for example the antec true power quattro series with multiple rails or this psu with a single rail?

  • Is a 550W power supply, enough for a AMD Phenom II x4 processor?

  • @hehehe929 Yes, but you'd have to be an idiot to get anything less than 650W

  • @hehehe929 Umm a PII x4 only uses 95W-125W whats WAY more important to know is all the other stuff you're running esp the video card! 300W is enough to run a system with a PII x4 if you're just running onboard video while 550W probably isn't enough if you're running a big ass video card like a 5970! That video card is going to draw the most power, way more than the CPU will.

  • i have now an 600 w recom power suply do i need this 1000w?

  • Is it just me or is OYutube all Fed up?

  • 4 pin floopy ? LOL

  • "this thing is a beast!" :D

  • ive always wanted to know something, what do you do with all these products you review?

  • NIce videos, what do you think about the nvidia gtx 465? thinking on getting one so would like to hear what you think of it,

  • omg you have ads on your channel. i think ima have to unsub man.

  • @chrisfur2 Theres ads in every video. Hes Advertising products for companies.

    Herp derp.

  • @Teldara hes never had those ads that are videos are the beginning of the actual video. they're usually about stupid shit anyway. as long as its not like that stupid nbs website, where you have to choose which ad you wanna watch first.

  • 3:08

now i see why Britain uses 50Hz :)

  • Excuse me but where are the ripple and noise testing? That essential fir reviewing PSUs.

  • does someone have an idea why the 230v(Europa standers like i use) is more efficient than the 115v (its about 10% difference)

  • This or the Corsair 1000W HX power supply? I'm leaning towards the Corsair.

  • Thanks I want to buy it but it won't look nice with my 932.

  • no.1 Corsair

    no.2 CoolerMaster

  • @pajo50 u like corsair better? me too. do you have both?

  • @danieldvs100

I had coolermaster 1000w pro silent, now i have corsair 750w,but if you look at "gold" corsair offers more quality and more power, tho more cost to the end user..

corsair has quality in low cost power supplys like 550w,650w..but hey coolermaster is not a bad PSU...

  • great review

  • LOL @ the enthusiasm, THIS THING IS A.. BEAST!!!!

  • wats tge programs name u tested the rpm?

  • @xFuJai Everest

  • @PCWizKid Now it's AIDA ; )

  • @xFuJai

I was just about to ask the same question. Great video:)

  • ix7 @ 3.33ghz 6 cores :O

    its so beautiful!!!

  • it has a 4pin floopy connector XD

  • Comment removed

  • End result: "beast".

    AWESOME REVIEW!

  • @pcwizkid

which would you pick and why

    this or the corsair ax1200

  • @oOcrazy95Oo The CM Silent Gold for its efficiency, powerful single 12v rail and specially how quiet the fan is.

  • @PCWizKid well.. the ax1200 has 100.4 A on the 12V rail.. and efficiency is the same

  • @AndreaFranchitti Well true, but silence is golden. The Corsair has a louder 140mm fan. The Cooler Master has a ultra silent 135mm fan which is important to me.

  • @PCWizKid wasn't the bigger the fan the lower the noise?

the fan noise on the corsair is from 24 dB to 30 dB, while the CM fan noise is from 20 dB to 40 dB.. at full load the corsair is 10 dB quieter but at lower loads is only 4 dB louder

  • @oOcrazy95Oo AX 1200 ofcourse

  • I plan on buying this for my new pc build:

    Haf x case

    Ga-890fxa-ud7

Amd phenom ii x6 1090t radeon 6870 or 6900 series in crossfire x

    Silent pro gold 1000w

    Kingston hyperx 12gb ram

    V10 cooler

    Asus 3d monitor

  • system for gaming * forgot to mention.

  • Hei PCWizKId nice videos man... and very helpful... but i wanted to ask you what do you thing about my upcoming system :

AMD Phenom II x2 555 black edition ( you got a review on it ) 3.20 GHz

    MSI Radeon HD 4850 512mb 256-bit

    2 gb ddr 3 1333 MHz

JNC AT - 500w power supply

pls reply if you can :) thx ! keep it going!

  • @MultiPocos if you could spend alitle more i would get an 6850 . Its a good deal rite now .

  • @lAznPenguinl i've allready order my system... that's why I didn't asked for suggestions only for opinion :) thanks for your reply anyway...

  • @MultiPocos Oh Well what was your budget ?

  • @lAznPenguinl low... i'm just looking for a decent gaming...

  • @MultiPocos Well I think you shoulda spend more on a Cooler for your CPU so that you can overclock or you coulda got an x4 and they're starting to get cheaper now

  • @MultiPocos Thats a nice solid system for decent gaming. You might be able to unlock the CPU and get even more power. The only thing holding you back is the video card since its not a 1GB model for playing in high res maxed out. But it will do fine.

  • @PCWizKid yep... this is what i was looking for... a decent gaming... and a last question : could I run Gothic 4 : arcania in medium settings and 1920x1080 rez ? :D there are a lot of diferent system requirements out there , i couldn't decide which is the good one...

  • @PCWizKid do you actually use this, or just for demonstration. because, if you use all of this, you must have a big house to fit all this hardware

  • @MultiPocos maybe you could go for a 5xxx series of cards... idk 5770?

  • @MultiPocos

You should get 4GB RAM atleast.

  • @MultiPocos Yes get more ram, 4GB+. You'll be having more fun gaming.

  • @MultiPocos you may want to change your graphics card to a Dx11 card

  • @MultiPocos u should save up a bit more money so u can get a 1gb card and try to get in the 5000 series since the 6000 series is coming out but the main thing is u should wait until u can get a 1gb coz it will come in handy.

  • yo pcwiz diD :) i need your help with xp i just love xp but it gets on giving me a error i tride to fix it it says internet explorer has incountered a problem and ends to close every 5 - 10 mins plz help

  • i like this psu but i dont like how the modular cables arnt sleeved and like you said u pay for quality and it dont have sleeved cables thats not really quality without sleeved cables

  • I thought Modular was supposed to reduce clutter, although I suppose anyone buying this kind of PSU will have uses for those cables.

  • Hey PCWizKid, what will be a good PSU to have three GTX 470s in tri sli?

  • I'm in the market for a new PSU and was wondering if I could put 2 in the same case? I have two 500 watt power supplies that are nearly brand new and I don't want to waste money If I don't need to.

    Thanks

  • @oconano if you have room for it, yes.

  • @nelizmastr Does my MB need 2 24 pin connectors so they will both work jointly? I don't quite understand how they will work simultaneously.

  • @oconano no u would use one power supply to power the motherboard cpu ram and the other one would just power the gpus

  • @oconano As long as you have a big case you can use 2 PSU's.

  • @oconano Yes you can put town in the sam case if your case allows you to install one at the top and one at the bottom

  • @oconano

As wizkid said you can, but you will have to mod the wiring a bit for the second powersupply to be turned on together with the first one

  • Very nice power supply i think i may use this on my system

  • Cool!

  • second!, nice one! I cn't afford it, hehehe.

  • This psu is way overkill for me but is awesome.
