I love the way the Japanese crowd here (which is huge) knows this song instantly from its very first phrase and roars their approval. And then they continue to react and enjoy throughout. Great stuff. Japan is a great country for jazz and jazz musicians.
I am very sorry to hear that your country has had to endure a catastrophic earthquake this week. I hope you are okay and you get through it stronger.
Are there many Hammond organs in Japan? Also, as many organs as we have in the USA that aren't being played, our tendency is to keep them around for someone who does (do you?). You can get many great organs for very little here. I've Invested $500 in my whole collection- M3, Wurlitzer 4500,625t&46'Orgatron, Farfisa FAST4,Thomas Palace III & 263.
this musta been been in Japan I seem to remember it from a while ago - we can see why he was called the father of Acid Jazz - part of the melody reminds me of the Riverside Years with Wes Montgomery but instead of the harmonics being backed by the low-high octave thing of Wes' guitar, this set is backed up by a freakin WALL of sound, I'm talkin brass b*lls to the wall HAMmerin';Timmons woulda been proud. . love the clowning around about 4:50 - thru 5:05 in the piece. festival was in 1990.
So sad we have lost so much talent. Why has this generation made todays musical scene a wasteland of electronic gimmicry and no real talent to write, play and make meanigful music.
House would be excluded from this misery. House music is plain and solid feeling in pure heart and skill, and does not ride with the cock of the media and mainstream pawp schuit.
Even though "disco beat" - it still feels like chunky bits in gravy - and that would be the basis of Funk, if said.
Also, soulful meanings are the jizz in house music - and I love getting down to Blues, too
good stuff
