A leaked report from the south west volcano research center has said that the volcano Katla has a double magma chamber system. The first chamber which is about 2 km down holds about 50 square miles of magma. But what the scientist will not say because of government pressure is the fact that Katla has an even bigger magma chamber directly underneath the first chamber that holds over 3000 square miles of magma and ash. This is about the same size as Yellowstone. Katla is a supervolcano.

katla and Laka are not the same thing Laka has been inactive for 270 years, the whether pattern change only lasted for a year after the largest eruption in recorded history.

They are many. Some are dangerous, some are not. Some will produce lava (as is the case now) and others will spew ash. The amount will vary.
In 1760 something (don't remember) a major eruption in Skaftáreldar spewed A LOT of ash. All our sheep died, people starved and in the end the Icelanders were only about 30.000. We nearly became extinct ... something to think about.

part 2: It is true though that everytime Eyjafjallajökull has erupted Katla has erupted to. Katla should always erupt between 50 years but didn´t 50 years ago so if she erupts it will be bigger (then usual) but not more dangerous then reguler volcanos. I´ll answer any questions. Sorry about my writing, I´m not a perfect speller in english.

Here are some FACTS on volcanoes in Iceland:
They are many. Some are dangerous, some are not. Some will produce lava (as is the case now) and others will spew ash. The amount will vary.
In 1760 something (don't remember) a major eruption in Skaftáreldar spewed A LOT of ash. All our sheep died, people starved and in the end the Icelanders were only about 30.000. We nearly became extinct ... something to think about.

This is crap. The volcano could never pose danger for the entire planet. Here on Iceland it's only a small area where the Eyjafjallajökull is posing danger. The woman is an idiot. It is unfortunate that she is a news anchor for fox, but please do not judge all Americans by her. I would also like to point out that Mr. Rundle is a seismologist and not a volcanologist, and while the two are closely related, they are not quite the same. His forte is earthquakes, not volcanoes. It is true that volcanic eruptions can cause environmental changes and that some of the gases released can be toxic in large quantities. However, we are not all going to die.
