The only way that we can fight this terrible debilitating social disease, is by informing the general public of its consequences, by showing young people that it's just not worth it. @learningcurveify -----because of the massive waste that goes into the dysfunctional privatized health care system . other industrial countries have half the per person costs and at least comparable health outcomes or better.replacing the USs system with one that other western countries have could eliminate the deficit,if that was what people really cared about .the economist Dean Baker wrote about this if you want to look it up.
Because health care costs are so high, medicare and medicaid are forced to pay increasingly massive amounts to suppliers every year, which is the single largest piece of the deficit besides the drop in revenues since the 90s.
Poor Noam. He was struggling to hear the interviewer, and so was I! Shame on him for asking someone as prestigios as Chomsky to be recorded talking with crap pop music and other sounds playing loudly in the background :-( :-(
