  • hes as canadian as they come

  • With ooot a D ooooot! lol

  • i love this card everyone give me card i m pakistani how much i m azeem and 18 year old game lover

  • i love this card everyone give me card i m pakistani how much

  • As time goes by the system requirement is higher. Its 2011 and the gtx 480 can last you several more years?

  • I meant GTX 480

  • Is the GTX 460 better then the GTX 550 ti?

  • @Jaystar54 Yes.

  • @Jaystar54 it's neck to neck with the gtx 570.

  • Can it run Super Mario?

  • @VanillaLoveSwirl no, sorry :(

  • Getting two of these awesome cards in SLi next week can't f#cking wait :)

  • at 1:41: "Um.... it will burn you" lol

  • Nice Video GTX 480 is what i use but i´m not happy with it...

  • @TechnikKev Why not?

  • Why the fuk am i getting beter scores with my 5850

  • @kubifan Cpu ram power supply lots of things

  • NVEEEDIA

  • So this can take Crysis 2 on Extreme graphics and max res?

  • @JoostRevo crysis has much more worse graphics then in crysis cuz of directx 9 for consoles

  • @Defusional So Crysis has much worse graphics than Crysis?

    Well that made sense

  • @JoostRevo Crysis 2 was made for consoles and consoles are over 4years old and cant get upgraded by hand, and consoles still use directx 9 technology whitch is very bad if you compare to crysis 1 (directx 10)

  • @JoostRevo It does if you understand it the cryengine 3 is a heavily degraded engine from the cryengine 2 engine but that goes without saying it pretty much maxed out the meaning for DX9, But it's just tons of console porting and the cryengine 2 maxed out vs the cryengine 3 maxed out cryengine 2 looks ALOT better and more realistic but isn't as optimized.

  • @JSUTSGJ Ok.the radeon 6850 didn't meet my excpectations

  • SWEET

  • I bought the overclocked refurbished EVGA GeForce GTX480 for $300 from CompUSA. I just got it in the mail today, and I have yet to install it because my new power supply is still in transit. I'm so excited though!

  • big dick in the pussy, with gravy

  • @LaV0lpe LOOOL

    Mad basterd

  • good haha

  • GTX480 !!! THAT IS WHAT I HAVE :) bought it second hand for 330 :D

  • @diuleil Got mine for £220 brand new ;) They are £200 still,

  • @diuleil its new only 300€ !!

  • GTX480 !!! THAT IS WHAT I HAVE :)

  • Why use 32 bit on Crysis? :o

  • @Rldm1012 Crysis run's better on 32bit. thats why.

  • @Bladeworkssystems lol no! it doesn't....

  • @Rldm1012 care to link me to some benchmarks proving you're point?

Im speaking from my own tests, 64bit crysis has lower frames per second.. (it looks a bit better) but performance is horrid. my GTX 570 manages 60 fps on 32bit. and about 40 on 64bit.

  • @Bladeworkssystems lol I don't have any

But I did my own test and it runs better on the 64 version... Honestly

  • @Rldm1012 I'm sure you didn't.

    comeback with some evidence.

  • LOL that is sort of sad that people complain about it. my GFX is SOOO CRAPPY that even running games like Counterstrike Source on High settings makes the thing run crazy,

  • @Hoser1358 haha i agree, got an Gainward 8500GT And im fucking pissed about it.but when i thing about it im kinda happy for having it and not a even crappier card's Like AGP :P

  • buy bad company legit 2 cd key from us

  • EVERYONE!

(QUESTION NUMBER 1.) My computer has a AMD Athlon II x4 640 processor ( 3.0GHz ) with 4GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory. So I guess my computer can't run the NVIDIA GeForce GTX-460 Graphics Card? Or can it?

(QUESTION NUMBER 2.) Also, it's also a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. But my computer already has the NVIDIA GeForce GT430( With 1GB dedicated graphics memory and support for Microsoft DirectX 11 ). Will that work? If not, then what Graphics card do you recommend me?

  • @GRUNTS2009 possible even 2 of those cards will do fine! its quad core so basically it can even run a GTX480 on 100% or a 5970 on 100%

  • motherfuck ati with their fanboys of CHEAP power suplies and computer cases

  • I couldnt agree more, my 470 reference with very bad case is alot cooler then the ones in the reviews, it idles at 40c and loads at 72c when gaming.

But i get avg 47fps in crysis with 16xAA, i think its wierd how this 480 only got 30fps.

Maybe its just due to me using the quadro 265.90 drivers.

  • i wonder why people get such fanboyism over a few frames, if your getting 60fps your good thats all you can see anyways.

  • @deluxedookie can you tell me how to get a frame per second screen during gameplay thanks

  • @ji3200

he's using fraps, if your using that just look at what the button is mapped to.

  • 480gtx performance is great only to bad it will burn ur fucking pc -.- use a fridge as a case when using this card....

  • @dudedude873

well i got 2 of those, you just scared the shit out of me.

    Wat should i do.

  • @Zenedarr Well i am not sure it happens to all of them just make sure you have good airflow in your case and dont overclock them ;)

  • @dudedude873

    Thanks

  • My GTX 480 never got above 60C. I just turned the fans up to 75 percent and used it in a well ventialted Antec 900. In fact, even overclocked it ran about 33 C on idle.

  • music is great

  • can this graphic card fit in my mobo gigabyte g41mt-es2l , intel pentium dual core 2.7 ghz, 2gb ram , monitor acer v193hq and psu 550W?? rply pleaseee!!

  • I wonder how games will look when the 3D processors come out. They're said to range from 20 GHz to 50 GHz. (Look 'em up)

  • GTX480's and HD5870's arent even in the same class or price bracket, on the egg you can get a 5870 for almost half the cost of a 480 and the 480 is a dual gpu card, just get 2 5870's in crossfire or a 5970, guaranteed will outperform a gtx 480. Regardless fanboys on both sides need to stfu since we all know your getting $100-150 cards anyways.

  • put it in a closed case and retest. im getting a 471 soon and my case isnt the best for airflow. only a 120 in front and back.

  • Do you guys recommend Ati radeon hd 5770?

  • @UntouchableX7 I'd suggest you to wait for a 6770 or something...

  • whats a safe temp when running 2 SLI for GTX 480

  • can you tell me wer you got that pink motherboard benchtesting thingy from

  • gma 4500m is so much betr

  • @dem0slyr nope

  • @holygranade1338 tell me how,i get the lowest settings and get 9 fps on bbc2,how awesome can it get;D

  • @dem0slyr 9 fps =fucked up processor

  • @holygranade1338 dude im jk i know it sucks ass

  • @dem0slyrtry updating to the most recent driver

  • @fuge805 i did modded drivers afterwards,it works better

  • gtx 480 is amazing

  • @TheWuHu1

    Yehhh....cause I bought it you ;) LOL Its a great card (:

  • it seems like a double rainbow :P

  • i want to see a test done when the card is in a case.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer -You should pimp out your cougar Mom.Make a lot more money.Take her to any redneck bar.

  • My 3dmark06 is 18067 with a Q6600 + GTX285.... Your 3dmark06's are very low for these cards it would seem? Maybe you have bad drivers or something going wrong in another area.

    My scores:

    SM 2.0 Score: 7272

    SM 3.0 Score: 8322

    CPU Score: 5109

  • @got2nesa

look carefully at 46 seconds, different settings than the default are being used...

  • @anonymous345 Touché :)

  • I dont see the point of buying the 480, i got my rig a gtx 470, and stil there isnt a game developed that i could play on maximum setting at decent fps. The 480 is just a little bit faster but costs a LOT more.. Just my opinion.

  • Well if I had $2,000 I would be a PC gamer :)

  • @MichaelMorales2010

All you need is $600 lol.

  • can these cards run mario?

  • @arbab14 I dunno Mario does have stunning graphics.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer you should consider the gtx 460 then, I have it and it can play even crysis on pretty high settings. I have it overclocked as far as it will go (875 core,2150 memory) and the temps never go over 75 C. This is on the Gigabyte internal exhaust model, and it even did fine in a crappy no airflow dell case before I got a new case. :)

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer the heat will get exhausted from the back of the case, not into it.

  • SLI anyone? :D

  • Why there are no benchmarks for 1920x1080 resolution ?

1920x1080 now is like mainstream and more popular choice for gaming than 1920x1200 res. screens.

  • i've tryed both cards & simply put 480 wins hands down, If you have the money & want a great card buy the 480, if you don't the 5870 will do the job just fine both great cards. btw if your planning to go dual monitors 5870 has flickering problems & the gtx 480 has heating problems.. but if you think it over you can fix the heating problem with good air flow but you cant fix the shitty flickering on the 5870 my 2 cents.

  • @Filo011 Can I has your old card?

  • i've tryed both cards & simply put 480 wins hands down, If you have the money & want a great card buy the 480, if you don't the 5870 will do the job just fine both great cards. btw if your planning to go dual monitors 5870 has flickering problems & the gtx 480 has heating problems.. but if you think it over you can fix the heating problem with good air flow but you can fix the shitty flickering my 2 cents.

  • In games with ''ultra'' tessellation, the GTX 480 will perform 2x/3x times faster than the 5870 - I feel bad for ATI.

    Great review; thank you HardwareCanucks!

  • why didnt u use the 5970, instead of the 5870? because this is sort of a biased vid :/, plus who wants their gpu's to be at 85 degrees, i mean WTF. when i buy a gpu i don't want an OVEN, i would of thought nvidia would of sorted the heat issue by now, its become some what of a houshold JOKE.

  • was it bad if fps was hi?

  • Umm how did the gtx 480 get more average fps on crysis then 5870. I compared them and the 5870 got around 2 more fps (36.XX) then the gtx 480.

Yes i were suprised but how did it get more on this 1. Or did the drivers just give the xtra boost to gtx 480

(its really weird how drivers can improve GPU performance so much)

  • well then buy a 5970 hd

  • @MrB1rdman GTX 470=5850 GTX/ 480=5870+10%/ 5970=GTX 480+ 25-30%.

Overall in non tessellation games, the 5970 is the better deal. 5870 actually performed better than the gtx 480 in crysis, an nvidia dominate game.

  • @rsman169 5970 = 2gpu, GTX 480 = 1gpu, Nvidia own ;]

  • @DontCIickMyName Lol, the 5970 is 100$ more. Try buying 2 GTX 480's for 600$. The only thing that keeps up with a 5970 is 2x5870 or gtx 480's, which take loads of power and money.

  • @rsman169 well i'm just talking about the power, not the price... o-o but yea.. for the price its better buy the 5970

  • damn this card is Huge!

  • When Is nvidia going to let us use our PhysX cards when we aren't gaming or putting a major load on the main card?

It would save a shit load of Power if My GT 240 would run instead of my GTX 480...

  • what fps should i expect from these specs:

    i5 760 @ 4.0ghz

overclocked gtx 470 by about 15%

    4gb 1600mhz ram

    ???

  • @msigt740 more than 90 of average

  • @msigt740

why don't you test it and find out. its IMPOSSIBLE, for someone to guess your fps for something you havn't specified ( the game ). so rephrase your question.

  • Is the a card good enough to run 40-60fps on crysis in 3d?

  • FAILED!!! 16000+- in 3dmark 2006 on these cards = BOTTLENECK BIG TIME XD roflmao

  • Looks great, subed

  • I have a gtx 275 and im getting the same fps :\

  • @jackieo555 hahaha

  • unable to decide which is better the CPU is bottlenecking bigtime!

  • i think 295 is better have bigger memory but lower hz

  • from what i've seen geforce cards are way better then ati cards. Difference between them is kind of like between an intel and an amd processor. Intel is just higher quality and performs better..

  • I got two GTX 480's in SLI. I haven't experienced any lag with this setup!

  • gtx480 is way too hot, and the power consumpition is unbelievable, it needs up to 3 times more power than an 5870 (gtx480 load -> upto 295W || 5870 load -> upto 110W) and for what? 5 frames more? no thank you. One day, when all the nvidia kids have grewn up and have to pay their energy-bills on their own, they'll see what i mean.

    (sry for bad english :P)

  • what CPU you got?

  • @AeroFix94 It's called being efficient. It was never intended to be a full review. I would suggest you follow the link in the description to read the full written review on our website. 32 pages of full benchmarks, architecture analysis and opinion :)

  • @HardwareCanucks ok sorry ^_^ my bad :D sometimes i dont think aahahah

  • @HardwareCanucks Where did you get the pc rack like in the video?

  • @HardwareCanucks 32 PAGES!!!! WOAH!!! That's a ton!!!!

  • @HardwareCanucks ha! nice reply....

  • @AeroFix94 Lol ur a moron

  • @darkblood931 hahaha

  • nice computer case haha

  • 85 Degrees Celsius! That's Ridiculous! My 4670 Idles at 26 degrees Celsius and loads at 48 degrees Celsius and I get 40-65 FPS on NFS Shift medium - high graphics on max 1680x1050 x2AA resolution.

    GTX 460 or 470 Gigabyte's non-reference design is better!

  • @HeLeX63 Your 4670 is about 1/8th of the power of this card, at best, and it's designed to have low heat/power consumption. This card is much, much stronger and is an enthusiast card. 85 degrees isn't bad at all for a GPU designed to handle that kind of heat.

  • My p.c isnt all that great i was wondering if i got a graphics card would this help? answer me plz anyone thnx

  • @MrB1rdman

    gtx480 1 gpu, 5970 2 gpu, gtx480 almost as strong as the 5970. fail on ati's part.

  • Awsome benchmarks, Thank you!

  • LOL 84°C and fan 61% LOOOOOOOOOOL !!!!

i have 5870 vaporx , i can oc it an beat this card and even i can get BETTER temperatures without hearing the fan !!!!!!

    lol nvidia !

  • @nahuel2222 Nvidia also packs more technology into their chip. Hence price, Power, Heat. Havok is lame compared to physX. 3D vision also. And the vapour X is not a reference design heatsink. I like it how I can game on my 5770 and it's quiet as. But I'm going to have to get a GTX480 in the comming weeks and just do a single loop water cooled setup. Good old EVGA.

  • @acidspoodie

im not an ati fan boy, i always used nvidia cards, and never had problems, this is my first time with an ati,, im quite really impressive with this card, can handle lot of this, its much cheaper than nvidia cards ( also a friend last year bought a gtx 295 ), 3d vision for me, at least in my country, its expensive, and for me its usless.. physx is better than havok, cause ati never improve it...

physx rulz, ati card pwnes nvidia cards ( in price and performance), thats the truth

  • @nahuel2222 You have an aftermarket card with a non-reference cooler that exhausts heat into the case, and you're comparing it to a stock/reference cooler with an external exhaust? Not to mention these GPU's are designed to handle this kind of heat.

You're not too smart, are you?

  • @Fortune2point0

all nvidia cards heat up, they can handle that, but nvidia dont want to get better temperatures, if they want, theyll do like ati does...

480 exhausts heat outse, the same as mine, not like 460 msi, that one exhaust into the case

so if these gpus are design for that kind of heat, why ati cards are better in both ways ( temps and processing )

  • @nahuel2222 The HD5870 toxic exhausts into the case.

How is ATI better for processing? Yes, AMD has lower temperatures this gen, too bad nVidia has better performance and prices (not to mention the GTX460 is slaughtering everything else in it's price range).

  • @Fortune2point0

thats true gtx 460, is a very good card for its price, lets w8t until hd 6000 series comes

yes this gen nvidia is sucking really...

im not saying theyr bad cards but ati at least on 5000 series was better than nvidia

    lets see what comes

  • @nahuel2222 AMD hasn't been better than nVidia for a few months now. GTX470 beats the HD5850 and comes close to the HD5870 (beats it when overclocked), and is cheaper than the HD5870 and most HD5850's.

nVidia WAS doing badly, then they lowered prices, now there's no reason to go AMD.

  • @nahuel2222 not to mention the shitty driver support you get from ati? every release give you increase in very FEW games, ive seen MAKS 2-4 and its MAKS 2-10% where the NV support comes from 1-70% u cant match that ! maybe u spend 10 dollars more yeah , for better support! ive been owning a 5970 for 1year now. il be honest, IT SUCK ! some games the game just crash! it does microstutter, it can drop frame rates like shit! theres no point of buying a toyota for 10 when u can get a FERRARI for 11!

  • @nahuel2222 okay you are so stupid! plz learn youre fact before talking shit!! HATE IT! the last gen of NV and ATI cards did do ALOT of heat , ALOT of power draw , but now with over 2-3x the perfomance it became a problem?? i dont see the point realy? if u have a 80plus PSU , its no problem at all!! and the GTX480 is a GF100 chip with 3.2B transistors , ATI Cypress is 2.13B transistors so calculate that? over 1B transistors more! and the GF104 chip is lower power draw and lower transistors 1.95

  • @nahuel2222 the 460MSI max heat temp is about 70-77 wich is the same with 5850 , 5870 and the 5970 wich comes up to 85 sometimes. why will no 1 bitch about that? because ppl can see that NV is doing better and ATI fanboys is going BITCHING time! the gtx460 outperfoms the hd5850 easily! and as i sayd before LEARN YOURE FACTS BEFORE TALKIN SHIT! nvidia confirmed theese card to run HOT ! its based on a TESSELATION arcithict ! GTX 470 is meant for perform better then 5870 and it does , gtx480 = 5970

  • hahahahha lmao yeah GTX 480 OWNS!

ONly that its HOT ASW HELL But its meant to be able to pass with high temperatues.

  • NVEEDIA

  • @MrB1rdman how can a single gpu 480 beat a 2 gpu 5970.... think about it

  • @0manager0 whats funny is the 480 might not be able to beat the 5970, but from what I saw with benchmarks, it not a total steam roll by the 5970, which is impressive when you realize its a dual vs a single gpu card.

  • holy $hit i touched my 480 gtx heat pipes and they were hot as hell i didn't know they got that hot....

  • awsome...I was going to switch it up for my new rig and get a ATI but being with nvidia my whole gaming life I just couldnt let her go. I started having seperation anxiety as I approached the 'proceed to checkout' button! Went with the gtx 480 :)

  • @MrB1rdman Well they technically do in DX11 performance as far as heavily tessellated scenes go...

  • Instead of getting a GTX 480 you could get 2 GTX 460's in SLI. 2 GTX 460s in SLI gets better performance then the GTX 480, and its 100 dollars cheaper. its also a lot cooler.

A very good deal to go with a GTX 460, much larger bang for your buck then AMD GPU's.

  • I glad I have "Flashblock" addon on Firefox browser. The last laugh belong to me dipsh!t

  • Ati 5970 ftw.

  • 5870 ... quieter, cheaper, cooler, needs less energy.

5870 Is the Best Card, not the fastest but the best....

  • holy shit wtf look at the size of those two motherfuckers

  • nveeedia?

  • yeah but you arent using a case how would it be in say a full tower, less breathing space would mean higher temps? just wondering cos im interested in getting one, and i really dont want to water cool

  • 5970 is better

  • hi dude, i'm close to buying a gaming pc with 3 graphic cards, all GTX 480. do you think it could run crysis 1 and 2? (when 2 arrives) :) ?????

  • @broddersamse You can't. not even 1% chance. That is what all think.

  • I have a GTX480!!!! =D

  • WELL. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

  • You speak words of wisdom!

  • @MrB1rdman Even though this video proves otherwise?

  • @MrB1rdman : It goes like this:

    1. HD 5970

    2. GTX 480

    3. HD 5870

    4. GTX 470

2x GTX 460's in SLI mode, or two HD 5850's in Crossfire will beat most of those single card solutions, however.

  • @whutbrush GTX 480 Beats HD 5970. Maybe not in price but definitely in GFX.

  • Pay attention to minimum frames, during intense explosions the Ati card dipped down to mid 20s while the 480 stayed in the upper 30s("playable").

  • My 5850 crossfire makes this gtx 480 look like a mid range graphics card

  • @njhth sigh and 2 gtx 480's would make your 5850x2 look 3 years outdated

  • @banenwn At least my card doesn't need a nuclear power plant to run --oh and also my card doesn't heat up to those of a 480. The 480's are so hot, I could fry an egg on it.

  • @njhth funny mine never sees 80 celcius.depends on the cooling you have if allittle heat and power scares you maybe your into the wrong hobby,Ive had a 5850 before not knocking it its a nice card but they run direct x11 like garbage so ill stick with nvidia

  • @njhth And my SLI GTX 480 makes yours look like grandma driving down the road.
