I did a play through of this game after watching yours. I never liked the Armerican version of the game but watched my father play it to death as a kid.... I thought the music was pretty good though. Once I saw your video and found ot this was Hokuto No Ken (Fist Of the North Star) I couldn't help but to play this again...

wow.. uh, funny story: I was in the mood to play Last Battle, so I was curious about seeing a 'Let's Play' on youtube. The one I found earlier was really slow for some reason, and then I found this one. I said to myself, "How different could the Japanese version be?"... Holy crap! This game was good, sadly it was censored and ruined when it was localized and renamed Last Battle -HRGH!!- but it was also my very first taste of Hokuto no Ken, imagine my shock when I started reading the manga 15 years later and noticed the similarities between the fake LB characters and the HnK characters...made me love HnK even more.

I played this back in the day. Beat it too on an actual Genesis (i.e no save states). In the Us version they let a little bit of nudity thought in the last levels of the game, presumably because nobody could get that far.

I know this game wasn't well received, but I'm not sure why it would be considered worse than Black Belt. The goons' typical hokuto explosions are well done, especially the bosses, and it looks to be more of less of the same caliber as the previous game.
