I heard this from somebody,first, his wife died then,years later I would assume his daughter got really sick(she was in the hospital in one of the PV'S) and died he was lonely and created Rin from his daughter's image I think. I'm gonna guess he either did or did not know he was sick and died form coughing up that blood. Well, I assume since it's not clear on what happened in this PV, my guess is his wife was pregnant and died. but every PV is different so really it's what the fans think it is.

The thing I love so much about this song? There are so many versions-- she's his daughter, she's a sibling he made because he was lonely, all the slight differences-- and yet each and every time it still gets me in the same exact place, the same emotional gut reaction. No matter how many times I watch it, I still tear up and still feel so sad for the robot and the scientist. No matter how the story changes, it's still the same.
