In response to the comment that when this song is sung today it's just not the same. Well, true. It's not the same. Ireland certainly isn't the same, the band members aren't the same - we who witnessed this concert aren't the same. Time changes everything and every song is about the moment in time it is listened to. Why expect U2 to recapture how this song was back then.. they simply can't. We are in a different age. U2 can't stop time.

@WhoDoYouWant Very well put...there's been no band over the years who's changed and evolved musically than U2. It's part of what's kept them relevant, even if I don't like ALL the changes they make. I listen to this song many times on Youtube in many different "eras" to see HOW it's played differently, since this song to me personifies just how good they really were, are, and will be.

OMG what memories..my first U2 concert and I loved it..near peed my pants when Bono walked on stage..nothing has ever comparred since...the crowd were just fantastic THE best atmosphere EVER!!!! Thanks for this... :))

let it go. wat a difference that song was bk yhen. listen to it now. not the same, just not the same anymore....................but there again they were all around 27 years old then, they had the energy and didnt give a fuk. now its all about theu2 makin money machine and all the dimwits that go just so they can tell everybody that they saw u2 and well generally dont give a flyin fuck about their music.

Was there aged 17 to see Lou Reed supporting...this song made me a U2 fan...fantastic gig and atmosphere....but best U2 gig for me was Wembley 93..ZOO TV...Had it all...Oakenfold ...Stereo MCs...Bjork and the mighty U2 in my opinion at their peak...
