i dont know much about ferrets but once you can swallow the initial cost of getting a hog they are easy and cheap to maintain. 12.00 for rubbermaid cage container, 8-9$ iams dry cat food wheel can between 20-40$ and few $ bedding.

for mine as a tip on housing get 1 of those reusable/ washable thermal lunch bags and put a cut off leg from sweat pants inside it to keep warm, that way you dont have to keep em on a heating pad. mine goes inside the bag then climbs inside the pant sleeve and sleeps and keeps warm that way even when temp dip below 70.
