@vancouversasquatch I am afraid not. Kenpo is not even a Chinese word. Karate is a blend of the native Okinawan martial art and a few different styles of southern Kung Fu. It was used by Okinawans to fight other Okinawans. They also used it to fight the Japanese but that was a little later.
@TKDLION I'm sure that's what @vancouversasquatch meant. Kenpo is just the Japanese word for Chuan Fa, which would later be known as Kung Fu, and Karate is a combination of Kung Fu(Kenpo) and Okinawa Te.
@TKDLION Yes, that's true. There do seem to be a gazillion styles of Kung Fu. Shorin Ryu and Shorei Ryu trace their lineage back to the five-animal styles of Shaolin, Goju Ryu focuses on the Tiger and White Crane styles from the Fujian province, and Uechi Ryu is based on Pangai-noon style of Kung Fu. But most people just say "Kung Fu" or "Kenpo" because they either don't know the exact styles, or because there are just too many to name.
@DRAGONKINGOFTIBET 'Fraid not. He was a southern Kung Fu stylist studying many styles before he reportedly swam from mainland china to Hong Kong. He still lifts and his main style is now Chen Taiji. Directly from an Inside Kung Fu interview with him.
Outside of his movie career, Bolo is the father of three children. He still lifts weights about two hours each day, and he regularly practices tai chi chuan. He is the chairman of the Hong Kong Gym Business Association, and the team manager of the Taipei International Body Building squad. In 2008, Bolo retired from acting at the age of 70.
Bolo met Bruce Lee while the two were filming a Winston cigarettes commercial.[1][citation needed] A friendship emerged and Bruce invited him to star in Enter the Dragon, where he became known as Bolo. During the 1970s, Bolo starred in numerous kung fu films, but his Hollywood breakthrough didn't occur until he starred alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme in the movie Bloodsport.
Bolo started his martial arts career at an early age while in Guangzhou, China, where he studied under several kung fu masters. He also took acrobatics and was a competitive weight lifter; eventually becoming the powerlifting champion. Contrary to popular belief, Bolo was not a Shotokan Karate champion, nor did he ever practice this martial art.
@Bachu509 You are very wrong. Bolo is three times World Karate Champion, he won tournaments in South Asia. He´s not only a movie martial artist, respect him, think, if Bruce chose him for his movie "Enter the dragon" it was some reasons you have not seen yet. My regards.
judogirl20, you say many cute "whiteman", whaz a matta? Don't you like the black man? That's not very politically correct of you. I tell you what.. date a b and I foogive ya!
you think she cares if you forgive her or not? and why should she date a black guy, just because her preferences might not be liberal enough, come on to each their own
Why don't you ask him? Surely he knows where it came from. He has decent form, Can't say much for the others including Mr. Norris who never studied karate a day in his life.
Chuck "Norris never sutdied karate a day in his life?" Are you joking? He first started training in Tang Soo Do while in the Air Force, I believe at Kimpo Air Base, South Korea. I don't care for his "macho, kick ass badest dude on the planet" attitude or any of his stupid movies, but at least give him credit where credit is due!
Read Norris' autobiography, "Against All Odds." He's a pretty humble, decent chap, honest about his shortcomings, and thankful for his gifts. And yes, he did start in Korea in Tang soo do, was a talented points tournament figther, and one of the first full contact fighters in the days of Joe Corley's PKA.
Porcaria de vídeo. nada a ver Bolo Yeung com Karate Okinawa. Um lixo

@44excalibur Perhaps but Kung Fu should not be spoken of as if it were one unified system. It isn't one martial art but an umbrella term.

Yeung spoke very limited English while filming Bloodsport and the majority of his dialog in the film was dubbed in post-production
