and now all they make video games based on children fantasies and require expensive video cards to play...
p.s for those who had the CD version of the game, there is a clip explaining how they made this great game.. I like the interview with the writer and the composer.
The only game I prefer is the comparable (though much lighter in tone on the whole) Broken sword; Shadow of the templars. Both games are truly excellent, and would be credible choices for 'best adventure game ever'. I can't deny the superior construction of GK in many respects though, or that it must have influenced the BS team.
"Paris in the fall. The last months of the year, and a voodoo cult murdering the neo templars. As the explosion rammed into me, I wondered why I still couldn't pull Nico with my starving artist routine, or why a barbarian taxi driver kept morphing into a leopard."
Between Robert Holmes and Mark Seibert, the composers from the nineties-era of Sierra adventure games influenced me a LOT. I've become a composer myself, and my classical work definitely shows the mark of all the great game music I grew up with. I've made sure to write fan letters to several of the composers to thank them for showing me how it's done!
I just love this theme. I remember playing Gabriel Knight for hours on hours as a kid and this tune just brings back so many good memories from it. It is amazingly haunting. They just don';t make games like they used to...
@demarek I think this game should be remade to Xbox and PC, just like it was did with Monkey Island1 and 2. They wouldn't even have to add voiceoverwork, it's perfectly good as it is.
@demarek I don't think I would go so far as to say that they don't make 'em like they used to, but I will agree that they don't make them like they made Gabriel Knight.

What soundfont/soundcard/etc is this? Sounds different than the digital audio in the CD version.

@Ascyltos You show the true power of the tv tropes approach. I am so impressed! As you say; that would be an awesome game!

@tsujigiri15 Then there's a cameo from Manny Calavera of "Grim Fandango" as well. Yeah.
