  • It looks like a very good drill

  • Im just saying its a warm.up.....not a muscle memory exercise....calm down guys...it looks like good practice

  • Guys its a speed drill not a blocking drill......he uses blocks as the blood warmer..not for instrutional proposes....lighten up gents.....threateing to take folks rank is insulting how do u guys know if he is using sukue uke....thats a hooked wrist or bent ankle technique

  • Your statement can be correct; but if this black belt was one of my students he have his rank taken away. Why? Because is he blocking the wrong way. Any other black belt will say the same thing by what is shown in this video.

  • Listen I don't who did what or who said what. But you answered my statement about the wrist being bent and I quote from you "Tatsuo later corrected the technique." That still means this black belt in the video is blocking wrong. This clip isn't from back in the day its actually a few years old.

  • @ionmale Tatsuo corrected it, yes, but that doesn't mean I was wrong in saying Master Nagle taught it that way.

  • JoshDouble Master Nagle never told his student to block with there wrist bent. Look up video on Master Nagle doing forms you can clearly see that he never bent his wrist. Secondly, ALL ISSHINRYU BLOCKS ARE STRIKES. So if you strike someone, the focus pad, or the heavy bag the way that is show by this black belt you will brake your wrist.

  • @ionmale He HAS taught his students that way. At least at one point in time. At this years Isshinryu Hall of Fame, I had the great opportunity to listen to Master Clarence Ewing, a student who was under Tatsuo for a while in Okinawa. Mr. Ewing was formally Master Nagle's student prior to going to Okinawa, and even he said Master Nagle taught it with the wrist bending. Tatsuo later corrected the technique.

  • I am a Isshinryu Black Belt. I must you should have your rank removed; just from what this video is showing. A Black Belt who isn't blocking properly. Why is your wrist bent. Your wrist should never be bent. Look at any video on here and you will clearly this. This is way Isshinryu karate is seen as a joke. We have black belt who can't block properly.

  • @ionmale Haisai, I agree with you. This is not a good show for the Isshinryu. The fist must never be bent never. Its sad to see this stuf. Hai

  • @ionmale His wrist is bent because Master Don Nagle teaches it that way...I'm not entirely sure why, but he does. I don't think we're ones to question Master Nagles methods.

  • hows that broken wrist feeling?

  • Good Video Sensei Tom. (responding to the wrist comment) Blocks become strikes...

  • I'm not into ishinryu did it a bit mostly because i was teachign tai chi and kung fu at a place owned by an isshinryu guy, but you are good. I see good concentration and power.

  • this is in a hallway at a local middle school where a weekly junior class is taught

  • how is your style pronounced?

  • @TheGoogler77

    Ish In Roo

  • @Da1RiSiN1sMoKe

    thank you

  • Your middle blocks are too high!

  • does anyone else see the Fujian influence in Isshin-Ryu?

  • no doubt!

  • Thats a good drill, My only thing is we are shown to keep the wrist stright not bent!

  • @isshinryu33 Different type of middle block that don nale used...worked pretty well for him, all things concidered

  • dude where are you?
