Truly the most amazing of all transplants because the hand must move and function every moment, where something such as a face, is more a cosmetically necessary transplant (and understandably so)! Proud to be an Iranian! Let's not forget Emily, who is truly the hero here. The color and shape of the hand was 99.999% an exact match. Yes, science was the key factor, but THAT was intervention from God. Good luck and many blessings to everyone involved in this process from start to finish.

@nonchalantgamer America is an ideal that is looked up to by individuals of other nations. America can do anything and accomplish anything we set our minds to. That is why people come to America, for the opportunity to work, to learn, and to be free. He's not an individual, he is not an Iranian, hes an American. He left his country and renounced his former citizenship. He is a part of America and a part of greater whole. He would not have helped her if he never left Iran, he serves an ideal.

@ObiTrev You can type as long of a comment as you want; the fact remains that Dr. Azari is an individual who, by the sweat of his own brow, managed to perform a miraculous surgery. The glory is all his for this achievement. Sure, many people have helped him along the way to achieve his goal, but ultimately, it was his accomplishment. If you should be complimenting anyone else, it should be the university that educated him, and his parents who raised him, etc...

@nonchalantgamer and yet you still miss the point. As an American I am proud at what our country allows individuals to accomplish. However, these comments stating they are "so proud" mean nothing. They're not proud of America, not of UCLA, not of the Medical team, and not even of Dr. Azari at all. They are proud that it was ethnically an Iranian who did this. If it was a Jew, a Black or a Latino, then they wouldn't have commented the way they did. They uphold the Ethnicity rather the citizen.

To NStenO .. The Christians (Religious Folk) who deny Science are denying their God. They need to TEST scientific findings, the way they are supposed to TEST religious teachings; but denying the reality of what they claim He created is denying Him. .. Most of them are too indoctrinated in Catholic/Protestant dogma to question anything. It teaches that you do not question God (their dogmas). That's why I encourage you to know their mindset so you CAN ask them questions. I do!

Evil=Wrong. Word origins equate evil to wrong! The rest is simply degree and common usage. -Really? Did he just make a simple mistake? The skull came from a totally separate location. It was not with the body. Marsh gained funding and reputation, two motivators of evil. It was not 'soon cleared up" for the public or for Science. -I'm just arguing that Science, as a tool of humans, is used for both right/good (ex. transplanting hands) and wrong/evil (ex. conquest and subjugation).
