  • Gil Tucker!

  • This is a documentary rather than an Ad, so long. Jim Jefferies sent me.

  • hey, like an apple?.. Australian accents have changed for sure.

  • more of a infomercial than an "ad"

  • WHY IS THIS 8 MINUITES LONG ?!?!

  • @SP3CTRE90 Its a dealer promo...

  • what they should have said is, 'buy this car and hold onto it. in 40 years you will be fucking laughing'

  • awesome vid! hi5 for sharing!! =)

  • This is what all ads should be. Actually informative, not too much crap.

  • lol, the Hatch Hutch!

The world was so simple in the good old seventies. Great car with the 5.0L V8

  • I wonder how much one of those 'Hatch Hutch' things would be worth, I've never seen one before today!

  • I love the "Push Button Transitor Radio"!

My very first car (22 years ago) was a 1969 Torana. (it was a very uncommon car, even back then, the shape was very similar to Cortina of the same age) It was an Auto and its top speed up a Hill was 10mph! Any Torana Fans know what the model was?

  • i do belive that was the HB Torana mate

  • the 1970,s,those were the days.torana for ever.

  • I began to think about first year of Opel Monza...

  • awesome car fuck ford if u like ford go look on a ford page

  • Yeah you could count on the fragile M20 4 speed to shit itself just outside the warranty period

  • & the ultra reliable Traumatic, oops, Trimatic auto gearbox. A generation of automatic gearbox repairers fed their families from this piece of engineering.

  • What a fuckin classic!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Hey that's the dorky constable form Cop Shop!

  • WOW!! What a car, what an add. I had a UC hatch, not quite an LX but same funcionality!

  • wicked

  • Love this ad.

How good is the music, now anyone overseas is going to KNOW we're a bunch of Hillbillies.

    Classic.

  • An ss to go shopping in That what im talkin' 'bout. How much would that thing be worth today!!

  • With a 308 in em? Unbeatable.

  • I like to melt down 308's and drink the magma

  • I wanna live a Torana life, what an exciting time they had! See what happens when we source our vehicles from Korea & Japan, we lose nice touches like the Hatch Hutch, the simplicity of AM radio & the quality of 'flow thru' ventilation. I hope GMH designers read this comment :)

  • Dude it's a piece of shit - just a glorified Opel Ascona piece of shit - the LH was the worst warranty car Holden ever had

  • geez, you're a hard marker, the LC & LJ range were based on the Ascona, but the LH was an Aussie design, as no Ascona could carry a 5ltr V8 .... ahhh, vinyl seats & RTS suspension, LOL

  • @csaw59 The LC/LJ floorpan was Vauxhall Viva based...

  • fuckwit

  • The Torana was a service managers nightmare. They lost money on everyone they sold, due to warranty claims. Have you any idea of how many M20's they replaced under warranty? And then you've got the 1900 Open cam-in-head nightmare. Then you got engine mount issues with the 308, then the water sealing problem with the hatchback playing havoc with the electrics. I could go on, and on and on. Australia is a country where foriegn cars are considered locals (Torana, VB series Commdore) think about it

  • I think you must have been too busy smoking cock at GMH instead of making camira's jerk off. No one cares about what you remember from over 30 years ago. They are a great car still today and it's not a minority that thinks this, take a look at what a good example will fetch these days, let alone A9X/L34's at auction. Why are you even watching this post if you dislike them?

  • And Ford wasn't much better. The EA's had the unique claim of being the only car in Ford Australia's history of having brand new vehicles requiring new engines. The Torana was a shitbox. HDT had to totally refabricate the monocoque with bracing from the crossmemer right back to the diff hump so the thing wouldn't buckle due to the HDT 350KW donk. You blokes who like them, well thats great - but remember there's a P76 owners club as well. The Camira was even worse. I know because I worked at GMH

  • You're the fuckwit

  • That just isnt correct - tell me where in the GM world in the 70's and 80's apart from the US was there unique passenger floorpans - dude there was only one - the HQ - HZ Kingswood - thats it - the Torana was a global platform, built in Japan, Europe, Sth Africa and Aus. The yanks are too tight to spend on different platforms. They only allowed the Kingswood to go alone because of huge sales figures of routinely over 100,000 per year - a figure the Torana never got close to - so there Csaw

  • ok, you got me, the Torana were Asconas, albeit longer, wider, heavier, with totally different engines & drivetrains (except for the 1900cc). The Holden engineers should've been proud to embrace this worldwide vehicle platform by using the anything from the A to C pillar (including the doors & door handles!) on the LH/LX range from the GM parts bin. Yep, the Torana was a true world car! LOL

  • @csaw59 I'm sure some there is a camper out there that has adapted a tent to fit over the rear hatch of their Daewoo...

  • Ha Ha! Ohh they are not going to bed ! Don't come a knockin' if the Torana is Rockin' ! This video is gold! Thanks :)

  • Where's Senior Sargeant O'Reilly?

  • why do they go to bed so early.....?

  • OMG why do you think they went to bed so early, look at the chic! Great video thanks, I used yo have a hatchback exactly the same in lime green, ha the back window used to leak a bit and the fans used to spin around on their own when you drove but it was a way cool car..

  • LMAO High Intensity Headlamps and Hatch Hutch

  • This was shown in the dealerships only, in a cartridge player - film was in a special cartridge, sound was on an audio cassette ( I used to have similar ones for the Gemini, and HX Statesman and utes).

Couple in the SS are actors Gil Tucker and Judy McBurney.

  • @doctorrkeats really usefull information

  • A good advert - did like the 'acting' within though!

Something now, that moustached bloke in the Torana SL - For a second there I swear that was Peter Hanenberger (Former Holden head from Germany that was the engineering guru for Holden in the 1970s, responsible for making the cars genuinely handle) - he has appeared in other Holden adverts of that time!
