  • That was the stupidest thing I have ever heard man. Maybe i'm just better than most but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to switch from any chord to this damn g chord. i want to put my 4th and 3rd fingers down than my first 2 and it just isn't working.

  • awesome advice, ive been looking for advice for faster cord changing for a very long time

  • why do you need a music teacher anymore ?

  • Wow this is a really awesome idea! THANK YOU!

  • How many do you do?

  • What if the song I'm playing requires picking/plucking? D: I keep picking the wrong string too ):

  • Dude thanks so much for your videos. I have learned so much from you. God bless bro. Let me come up a little bit and I will shoot a contribution your way God willing. Well laters.

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • 7 people can't sat cross-legged

  • Thanks mate. I've been thinking about how to get my changes quicker, can be so frustrating esp when that little pinky has to find the high e string on Gmaj. What a great little excersise.

    Cheers a lot from Australia.

  • Thank you :)

    Playing in the attic rules!

  • Hey Justin, I like using a metronme to work on my chord changing.

  • Eye-deer.

  • Hi Justin-your lessons r wonderful, I'm learning quite fast. Made a contribution as a show of gratitude - hope you received the dvd, and it didn't go astray-metalhag

  • thanks dude!

  • awesome exercise

  • hi justin

    i 've got a big problem !

my left hand is faster than the right one even if i play down/up what shall i do ??

being a new student of guitar it would really help.

i learn many things from your free tutorials.

    Justin ! thank u......

  • Thanks justin. I am definitely going to try this and let you know my progress!

  • Nice technique, I'll try it out, thankx

  • thanks dude

  • Ahh very good idea. I'm trying to learn how to play a song and am having difficulty changing chords fast enough. This should help me out a lot. Thanks.

  • super effective training!

  • thats a realy good idea thanks

  • Just tried again with 5 chords:

    Major C G D A E..

42 clean, had to reapeat on or two twice :p

how do i get all the fingers down directly on the strings?

For example C. I have to first get finger #1 then i can aim finger #2 and #3... is there any exercise for that? i tried to aim in the iar before hitting but my finger are out of control in the air.. :/

  • 44. :(

i'm gonna try that for 1 minute 10 times a day or more.

another good tips is to plan ahead how ur going to move your fingers before you lift them up.

any hesitation or fingers hovering will be eliminated.

I've played for 6 days from scratch any one that can tell me how long it does take for the average guitarist to switch between multiple chords along the whole fretboard?

    lol @ my english.

  • Great, thanks.

  • 80.

  • 77.

  • Nice Guitar.

  • this guy is the BEST

  • so simple yet so affective

  • it actually works

  • cud u cheat and just do tons of g to c add nine cus dats a really easy change!

  • That'd be a good exercise for tubers, bit of competition between guitarists...

  • haha thats awsome was looking for a way and it really helps. knowing u have to beat the time and all and i only count ones i do a perfect strum on too heres my first four trys lol.

  • total legend, chords whey ! ohh go to another cohrd get the figers right whey !

  • hi.

    i liked your video.

    i have a question though.

im a beginner guitarist and i learn by book and cd.

i was wondering if i need to learn all the other things in the book like all the notes on the staff and reading chords by note not tab.

because reading chords on note is hard.

  • it depends on which guitar you have say you have an acoustic guitar you have to learn a,b,f,g,e,c etc.,the minot, and the majors

  • learn tab, and chords by name ex) b,a,c,c#... thats how everyone does it

  • Thanks it was helpful:)

  • Your lessons are just great!:D

  • ありがとう

  • I disagree with you

  • i think he made a very good point

  • It means "Thank You"

  • I think everyine should just donate any amount of money to this guy cause hes like the best teacher and his fun too.

  • I aggree with you, I know I did. Justin has helped me and helped me teach my kid.

  • Thanks Justin, I've been looking for a way to improve chord change speed for a long time; this strategy is much appreciated. You are awesome.

  • great advice thanks!

  • Thanks!!

  • i really like all of these guys videos hes so friendly an sounds like a nice guy. really easy stuff an good tips for beginners. Thanks justin, you rock!!! :)

  • cool man

  • The thing is, while I may be able to go from Chard 1 to 3, what about chords 1 to 4? Or 4 to 2? Or 5 to 8, 10 to 5, etc, etc.

It's like jeez. It'd take me years just for chords, and I'd be frustrated.

  • LOL i made 56 from d-e, i learning about a year.

  • THANK YOUUUUU! seriously, mate, you dont understand, you are now my new god. come to plymouth and I'll give you free dinner!!!

  • hey thanks a lot. i think this lesson really helped me out a lot.

  • this lesson is so useful!!

  • Hey Justin,

thanks for the work you put into us :)

    You're a great guy!

    Cheers

    Fabian

  • lmao, pretty funny how you have the DR strings in the background

subliminal advertising lol how much are they paying you?

great lessons i use your site all the time, i learn more from you than my crumby guitar teacher who i pay 10 quid a lesson for -.-

    thanks a bunch :)

  • superluckyjoe - DR strings don't pay me, but I am an endorser, I think DR strings rock, so why not let you guys know that's what I use. You can see I play a Fender guitar...

  • nice im practising already!

at the min im making a song out arpeggios and saving up for a strat (40% of the way there)

also have you heard the game frets on fire? its brilliant i watch it on youtube (and play it) to transcribe you can hear the guitar really clearly

  • i like your style dude. i think rhythm guitar is an art form. i find lead guitar quite boring

  • suck cock u prat he takes time to do this and he can so suck it if you search his name sucker

  • hey man you well rock but could you do grenn day wake me up when september ends plz (might get more requests at some other point from me cause u'r awesome)!!rock on!!

  • your so helping me!

  • can you teach how to play stairway to heaven by led zeppelin in slow motion?

  • Thanks a lot Justin =)

  • Hey Justin,

I've been watching some of your videos. Thanks for your efforts, Its good to know you are taking so much pain! :)

    Keep it up!

  • Thanks for the tip :)...I've been looking for a way to speed up my chord changes, 'coz i'm so slow ATM lol :) w00p! x

  • I'm up to 10 chord changes better than before

  • Justin You Are The King

I've Learnt so Much from the video's and your site

    Rock On

  • I have a good tip. For an A Major, instead of having your first finger on D, 2nd-G and 3rd-B. Put yourt 1st on B, 2nd-G and 3rd-D. It means you don't have to move as much when changing from A to D, A to E, A to C and vice versa.

  • try the fingering shown in the beginners course on my web site - it's better than what you suggest for minimum chord movements. Use 1st finger on the G string. 2nd on D and 3rd on B. Try it :)

  • hmmm.... this ain't working, just loading and loading but nothing happens

  • try stairway to heaven by led zeppelin

has nice n slow chord changes ^^

  • coz im doing the led zeppelin song babe im gonna leave u and its fingerstyle. im finding it difficult in changing chords and finger picking both same time

  • hey justin, changing chords in finger picking, i mean fingerstyle songs is even harder. my hand really hurts :(

  • I got my guitar yesterday and within 15 minutes you've taught me A and E and I can do 3 chord changes in a minute. This is 18 hours after bringing it home. I never tuned my guitar when I started off (my guitar has made me almost bankrupt!), I'll get a tuner as soon as I can.

But yes guys, 18 hours later you could be doing this. Of course, I had 9 hours sleep during this ;)

  • I really struggled with chord changes before, now its great! Thanks alot! Your a really good guitar teacher!

  • Thank you so much for posting all these lessons! I've watched a few so far and they've really helped. They're becoming an increasingly valuable resource for me. Thanks again!

  • im glad i stumbled on your youtube lessons, you rock

  • nice DR ad lol

  • This has been really helpful. Thanks

  • good stuff. just wondering why you can't use this on barre chords

  • thanks, Justin!! you are great..and you remind me a lot of James Blunt!

  • Psh. Justin owns James Blunt. =p

  • awesome tip!

  • Thanks so much, you're a fantastic teacher

  • 45 in one minute .. G c sweet

  • nice idea

even after some time, i just looked at a song of toto, new one called Bottom Of Your Soul, and the chorus goes

    Eb/F to Abadd9no3 and Eb to Bbadd9

important thing is, don't mess, even if it gets you pissed to nail them, because if you get it down sloppy, its 120000 million times harder to get it right afterwards, because you automize really fast

  • yo man this is awesome stuff just dont start deleting this stuff or charging for it because this is helping so many people including me

  • Hands down, the best guitar teacher I've ever had. I hope you know your time and effort is very appreciated. Along with being excellent player you have a refreshing approach to teaching fun attitude. Best of all you offer this for free. Thank you!

  • That is awesome you are the best

  • Geez, you are such a great teacher! haha! I've learned soooo much from you!

  • justin!!! i am struggling lot in chords changing from long time any othe ticks or easy way specially from D to G and C

  • Awesome thank you so much for this Justin!
