well, lich bane would be thinkable if you build the tear to manamune instead of AA. at late game AA doesnt really matter if you dont build raba as last item, so manamune + LB would make for a nice nuke inbetween qweqreqw

you used rune prison before overloard always you have to begin with overload for better use your passif for exemple against xin top if you began with overloard you wouldnt have low hp
@comedeyzone I play various heroes and smartcasting doesn't work for all of them. I don't want to change settings every 30 min, hence I stick with defaults.

How do you get your game to play really smoothly at 60 FPS? I play at about 60 FPS but it doesn't look nearly as smooth as yours does. For example the clips starting from 7:11 to 8:37 look really smooth; I was wondering if you maybe sped up the footage slightly?
@TheSneakyCarrot While I recorded at 60, the limit for youtube is actually 30. When you convert 60FPS footage to 30FPS in premiere/after effects it blends the frames together, so you actually get this motion blur effect to your footage that doesn't actually exist in-game. It looks pretty cool and that's the only reason I recorded at 60FPS. That motion blur gives the illusion of added motion without it being there, and is the same effect you get in theatres, where the framerate is only 24.

@kas2929 I just have general caster runes, nothing specialized for ryze. I believe I was using magic pen reds, health per level yellows, cooldown blues and flat health quints. If I had a lot of IP I would have probably bought a good deal of mana runes.

@NoZAutonomy Your a fool to say that. smart cast is not for all champs there are some that it would fit best, I think this ryze killed you in this vid so your just rageing. I did take one point out of PRESENCE OF THE MASTER and droped it in with BURNING EMBERS and haveing ARCHAIC KNOWLEDGE. I use ghost also and it does work fine I dont run in to minions when trying to run from or to a enemy.

@GoldenGamerNo1 smartcast is where, after pushing a spell key, you dont have to click again to cast. it auto-casts where your cursor is. so you just hold your cursor over an enemy of target area, and push said spell key.

This is probably the only Ryze video on youtube I could found where someone actually built mana like they should with "new" Ryze :( but I really like seeing highly skilled players dominate with him.
You do it wrong :P everytime ryze use skill the cooldown is -1 sec so don't use W as first ok ? (except you need to stop someone realy fast) use Q then W and then you have only 1 sec to use Q again... and I see you are running around enemies and all cooldown are like 2 sec or more... Ryza style is Q x Q x Q x Q and x can be anything what you want E for penetration and in close fight or a lot of enemies or W but I prefer to Q x Q x Q x more dps
Voidward uses W first to make sure they don't run away. Then he spams Q and E to get it's cooldown low for maximum CC.
That running around is called re-positioning. He does it like a pro, and it's to make sure enemy skill shots don't hit him and to make himself less easy of a target in general on the screens of enemies.
If you get up to the enemy and just stand there spamming, you're a sitting duck that's going to die.
@mynameisthis192 I wouldn't call it a nerf, its a "change"... Riot thought they had many heavy nukers (Anivia, Annie, Veigar, LeBlanc) and wanted to make some sort of a spell-machine mage, so they CHANGED Ryze to that instead of building a whole new champion. And to answer your question: It happened on the 16th of February, 2011. (US) Along with Maokai's release.
@Mijrin I'm talking about the patch that was released a day after you uploaded this video:
"Ryze Overload mana ratio reduced to 8% from 10% Desperate Power spell vamp now scales to 15/20/25% from 15%"
For 2 weeks after the readjustments, Ryze was underground OP, no one expected him to be played well. The week or so before the patch people were ready. After the significant nerf on Q's damage, Ryze is now pretty balanced. Your video must have been taken from games before the 3/27 Patch.
I like running Ryze with the usual mana items and Sorcerer's boots with a Phantom Dancer on top. You wouldn't believe how many kills that Phantom Dancer has gotten for me. Without it my opponents would run away with like 80 health and either B back or get killed by some other ganker.
ryze is my main and he is right, Ryze needs speed, his combo never ends and thats the point that he is the only mage CARRY, he dosent nuke one guy hard then runs around then does it again, he just never stops, so he has to be resistant because youre a carry, and carry shouldnt die because no CARRY no DMG.
Nice video. I noticed that you open with Rune Prison, and It's going successful (for you at least). Anyways, you can cast Q (I think you know that already) after every casted spell for an example, Q - E - Q - W - Q - R ... and so on and so on.
I believe what you are doing in video, using rune prison as the opener is viable. I take all other skills as cd lower for rune prsion. i usually go w r e q, and then keeps on going with what ever is available. This way it's one second faster rune prsion than other openers. We all know 1 second cd on disables can bring big difference, right?

the build does make u quite tanky by the end of the game...question...what is ur rune setup.... and masteries///I'm 9/7/14 ...I know most ppl do the usual mage mastery.. but I find that this makes me more "durable" as the more mana I get the more health regen and survivability I have

Great video Void, I still miss the old Ryze with somewhat long CD's and HUGE nuke potential. They made him very versatile with the patch that changed him, giving him spell vamp instead of flat AP. You're very good with him I must say, and so am I ;)
@Voidward alright alright calm yourself i didnt know D:... tho a better way to play ryze is to use w first always since using rune straight after will work the passive on his w. so you get an extra w in for more damage:D
@Vman7070 Oh snap it's the Vman :0 Yeah it's solid advice, sometimes I just don't want to risk dudes running off before the party starts. People seem to underestimate Ryze still, but when you start bursting they turn around real fast, so i'd rather bind, run ahead of them, and start working on getting the cooldown ready for the next bind.
@Voidward Also, you need to work on leveling up your skills mid combat without clicking them. Control + QWER. It will save you time and give you your upgraded burst/damage during the fight instead of after. There are a few clips in here where you're sitting with the upgrade available but you don't select it.
@Voidward You should practice on bots a little with an overload opener, then. If you get the timing down properly with the animation there's almost no delay between the first overload and the prison.
@Voidward Whats your elo? Just curious,cause you have good team comps,and teammates who know what they are doing too xD I wish I could say the same most of the time

@mynameisthis192 I wouldn't call it a nerf, its a "change"... Riot thought they had many heavy nukers (Anivia, Annie, Veigar, LeBlanc) and wanted to make some sort of a spell-machine mage, so they CHANGED Ryze to that instead of building a whole new champion. And to answer your question: It happened on the 16th of February, 2011. (US) Along with Maokai's release.

@Mijrin I'm talking about the patch that was released a day after you uploaded this video:
"Ryze Overload mana ratio reduced to 8% from 10% Desperate Power spell vamp now scales to 15/20/25% from 15%"
For 2 weeks after the readjustments, Ryze was underground OP, no one expected him to be played well. The week or so before the patch people were ready. After the significant nerf on Q's damage, Ryze is now pretty balanced. Your video must have been taken from games before the 3/27 Patch.

I like running Ryze with the usual mana items and Sorcerer's boots with a Phantom Dancer on top. You wouldn't believe how many kills that Phantom Dancer has gotten for me. Without it my opponents would run away with like 80 health and either B back or get killed by some other ganker.

ryze is my main and he is right, Ryze needs speed, his combo never ends and thats the point that he is the only mage CARRY, he dosent nuke one guy hard then runs around then does it again, he just never stops, so he has to be resistant because youre a carry, and carry shouldnt die because no CARRY no DMG.

Nice video. I noticed that you open with Rune Prison, and It's going successful (for you at least). Anyways, you can cast Q (I think you know that already) after every casted spell for an example, Q - E - Q - W - Q - R ... and so on and so on.

I believe what you are doing in video, using rune prison as the opener is viable. I take all other skills as cd lower for rune prsion. i usually go w r e q, and then keeps on going with what ever is available. This way it's one second faster rune prsion than other openers. We all know 1 second cd on disables can bring big difference, right?

gr8 vid...ryze is my main...and yes ppl do underestimate him...don't mind that... even my own teammates are stil lasking me why i'm not getting any Ap and why so much mana....
the build does make u quite tanky by the end of the game...question...what is ur rune setup.... and masteries///I'm 9/7/14 ...I know most ppl do the usual mage mastery.. but I find that this makes me more "durable" as the more mana I get the more health regen and survivability I have

Great video Void, I still miss the old Ryze with somewhat long CD's and HUGE nuke potential. They made him very versatile with the patch that changed him, giving him spell vamp instead of flat AP. You're very good with him I must say, and so am I ;)

You use Rune Prison before Overload a lot, you should generally open with Overload. -VMan7

@Vman7070 Oh snap it's the Vman :0 Yeah it's solid advice, sometimes I just don't want to risk dudes running off before the party starts. People seem to underestimate Ryze still, but when you start bursting they turn around real fast, so i'd rather bind, run ahead of them, and start working on getting the cooldown ready for the next bind.

@Voidward Also, you need to work on leveling up your skills mid combat without clicking them. Control + QWER. It will save you time and give you your upgraded burst/damage during the fight instead of after. There are a few clips in here where you're sitting with the upgrade available but you don't select it.

@Voidward You should practice on bots a little with an overload opener, then. If you get the timing down properly with the animation there's almost no delay between the first overload and the prison.
