Great one! Ontario, Canada had these about 15 years ago but if anyone decided to fight a ticket in court the cop would not show up or the charge would be dropped. The cops knew they were unconstitutional and they did not want any case law to shut them down. the gov't that put them in was booted out in the next election and the cameras were chucked out. They also release the police from having to chase car criminals and let them go after bigger law breakers like drug dealers. People who thumb their noses at obeying traffic laws are more likely going to thumb their noses at other laws as well. Red-flex is an Australian company. They have the sole contract in AU for all the cameras. They make these cameras. They are also in bed with the US government. As a result they were awarded ALL the contracts for the traffic ticket cameras here - nationwide. Next they pushed for the US Australia Free Trade Agreement to benefit thier corporation. They got that too. So basically when you get a photo ticket a chunk of the money goes straight to Redflex. For every single traffic ticket.
