You sure it's not nocternal epilepsy - a neighbour of ours had a dog who did just that - looked like he was reliving a happy walk in his sleep (he sometimes yelped too). Anyway it turned out that he has epilepsy and it's not uncommon apparently. Cute dog anyway :).
