  • Baseball Bat, get this guy a tennis racket lol

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

  • Back then MJ could have walked into the white house and became the first black president if he wanted to

  • The only time a cubs fan will be happy with a positive white sox outcome. Even if it was a tie.

  • Wow, the greatest athlete & media member in Chicago sports history. This is great.

  • 6:35 - Hater walks by.

  • It's awesome that Jordan got an RBI, but what the hell was that catcher doing? Any competent MLB player should have gotten that guy out. Major fail.

  • LeBron wants to go to the NFL!

  • Kobe should do baseball.

  • @MrReman23 he does soccer like steve nash

  • DAMN it dosent get any more CHICAGO than this

  • I have Jordan's White Sox jersey (wearing it as we speak!). It may be the away jersey, but it's authentic! LOVE IT!!

  • OZZIE GUILLEN WAS PLAYING.

  • @bio0202 Preach!!

  • I can't skate either!

  • This whole thing was a sham. He was most likely going to get suspended by the NBA for gambling issues so he decides to retire...tries baseball to which he was given carte blanche over better up and coming prospects...then came the famous.."I'm back" routine. I fully agree he was a modern day sports icon, but the baseball bit was way over hyped and over blown..If Reinsdorf didn't own the Bulls he would never had played for the Sox minor league team in Birmingham..

  • Jordan was a class act. He already excelled in basketball, why not give baseball a chance for the fun of it?

At the bare minimum, the Sox sold a few more Jerseys and game tickets. It was a win-win situation for both him and the Sox.

  • An that is MJ's best baseball highlights jk , Michael is the best.

  • R.I.P. Harry Caray

  • We love you MJ! And RIP Harry Caray!

  • 2:45-->After Baseball enjoy retirement..... Well if achieving the greatest season ever for his team (1995-96 Bulls) is in anyone's retirement plans then they really are one of the greatest athletes ever.

  • was this the first year that the Budweiser ad was on the rooftop?

  • 5:47

Those are some big ass cameras

  • Only in Chicago can two teams play against each other and STILL not win!!!

  • What an awesome clip with Harry and MJ at the beginning. Thanks for sharing.

  • Is that Shaq at 5:49 ?

  • wow hes not as bad as i thought he was. hes actually not terrible

  • wheres his face?!?!?!

  • idk y people hate on jordan for trying baseball rember ppl his dad was a baseball player and jordan as a kid play baseball so its not like he does not know how too play the game

  • Folks, this was an exhibition game. This was years before interleague baseball.

  • what an idiot Jordan was for thinking he could play baseball

  • @brettvett1 Jordan was a pro basketball player who had not played baseball since he was a boy! And he still had the balls to play minor league ball and look better than some players who had played college ball. Your comment is just crazy!

  • Jordan in a baseball uniform just doesnt look right! Such a tall man and his pants barely fit :D

  • how fucking awesome is it to hear "Michael Jordan with an RBI single!"

  • this was right on the eve of the players strike

  • I miss Harry announcing Cubs baseball. Yes, he was old and flubbed alot of names, but he added excitement and enthusiasm even when the score was 9-0. Current Cubs guy Len Casper has to be the boringest play-by-play announcer on the planet. The Cubs should fire his sorry ass and bring in someone who actually adds excitement to the game, cares whether or not the Cubs win or lose, and isn't just there to collect a paycheck.

  • I really like MJ's attitude about it. If he fails, at least he tried. He failed and he tried and he went back to basketball. I do however think it really sucked that we never got a Bulls/Rockets finals. That would have been amazing. 1993-1994 Finals could have been maybe the greatest ever...If Jordan didn't "retire" they probably would have won 8 straight titles

  • He put so much effort and work ethic into the game of baseball

  • those are some tight pants

  • hey wheres kurt!!

  • Hey, people can make fun of Jordan for trying his hand at baseball, and I never really cared for basketball, I'm a baseball fan all the way, but I think it's great that Jordan gave it a shot to see what he could do in the MLB. I have tremendous respect for this man for his athletic prowess and what he did for the game of basketball. Bottom line, it was super cool to see him in an MLB uniform giving it a shot, which is more than what most people can say.

  • its awesome how jordan isnt as good of a baseball player, but the fans love him as if he's babe

  • Jordan was not as good in baseball as he was in basketball.

  • @gaarafan5555 tell us something WE DON'T KNOW

  • Psh freaken jordan dude :)

  • Wtf y is there no xtra innings

  • what an athlete

  • MJ is the best basketball player to ever play baseball.

  • @cccornel7722 good one

  • @cccornel7722 best basketball player to ever play basketball too

  • Harry Caray is so awesome. He reminds me of my grandpa.

  • imagine jordan's first homerun, people must have been punching each other in the face for that homerun ball

  • "Jordan with an RBI single!"

that sends chills down my spine

  • that would be hilarious if after he quit baseball he was a wide reciver for the bears

  • @jellybean545 Yeah it would , but I see him more as a Qb.

  • "but after this, i can't see myself coaching, i cant see myself doing anything exept being a father and being home quite a bit" meanwhile, he rejoined the bulls a year later. lmao

  • amazing-

  • Greatest basketball player and greatest athlete ever.

  • no extra innings :(

  • Man that announcer wanted to make love to Jordan.

  • He shoulda stayed with basketball...Just so he coulda broken more records

  • wonder days in Chicago

  • He wasn't as bad as space jam lead me to believe

  • @walkerctranger hahahahaahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahaha

  • Wait... Thats the Cub's stadium... And their cheering Mike on the opposing team....

    WERIDDD.

  • @dahgutone us cubs fan root for the bulls too and despite him being in a sox uniform we love him, hes a chicago icon. Go Cubs and Bulls

  • @dahgutone You simply cannot understand what Michael Jordan was. You didn't live through those years so you won't be able to understand it.

I can just tell you, that Michael Jordan was bigger than the sport he played in. He was intelligent, classy, strong willed, hard working, and a winner. Everything you could ask for in an athlete, he had it. On and off the court. His dominance on the basketball court remains unmatched. If you lived through this years, and then watch current stars..

  • Did Harry Carey drop the 'credit to your race' line at 1:10? WTF???

  • Man i heard that the baseball strike played a part in his waking away from baseball. Man if the strike didn't happen or he stayed he would have a been a hell of a baseball player. He had tools and work ethic like no else on the team.

  • is it mlb

  • WOW! Jordan was good this game! You always hear what a horrible player he was. Didn't see it in Wrigley that day.

  • @kevorobo at least he can hit a 90 mph fastball or faster better than u can or most people

  • hahaha jordan u couldnt see yourself doing anything after this yet you won 3 championships with the bulls l0l0l

  • such a good kid going to baseball because his father envisioned him playing in the majors yeah he sucks at baseball but hey his dad would be proud

  • Wow. This sure brings me back. I was a Sox and a Bulls fan back then, and when Jordan "retired" from basketball the first time, it was heartbreaking. Then to see him go to my baseball team was just awesome. Well, it was for a while until it came to the realization that he was playing with the wrong ball... Too bad the season had to get shortened too, because the Sox were a friggin' juggernaut. MJ was just good publicity.. not a good ball player. BA of .202 and an OPS of under .600 Not good.

  • @Skizz1979

And stole 50+ bases. And hadn't played baseball since he was 14 years old. I swear, people make it like he was embarrassing. I guarantee you, MJ would've gotten better. HE DID in the Fall League. There are career minor leaguers that don't hit .202 some years. And he hit 3 HR's. I swear, you could give me 20 years and I wouldn't go deep against professional pitches. Says so much about MJ that people expected him to be his basketball playing self on a diamond.

  • If there was not a late start to the 1995 season Jordan may have stuck with Baseball because he was improving in the fall league from where he was when he started the season.

  • It was weird looking at the Sox lineup for this game:

    -Ozzie Guillen

    -Joey Cora

Plus, Steve Stone was announcing for the Cubs.

  • His lack of baseball talent didn't take away his title as one of the best basketball players ever. He already accomplished his goals as a basketball player; why not try baseball for fun?

Plus, it was good PR for the White Sox and MLB.

  • the more i see him speak the more i see how Kobe Bryant has stolen some of his mannerism. lol. Its crazy to compare.

  • lol to the baseball purists who say this never should have happened don't realize how unique this kind of thing is and that it ACTUALLY brought publicity to it. Big woop if one white sox didn't get to play for a while, it's michael jordan...

  • i came here from the 30 for 30 jordan rides the bus

  • A 6'6 right fielder..nice!

  • was this the only good game he played?

  • I'm Jordan fan, but come on you can't expect to start playing for the majors.

    You gotta start from scratch.

'You can't start walking until you crawl'

  • Hes kinda like Bo Jackson except Bo played football

  • God he can do it all

  • harry caray cracks me the fuck up

  • u have to admit, he wasnt a bad ballplayer. all u people dissing prbly couldnt even hit a ball thrown by a mlb pitcher

  • One of the most awesome baseball clips I've ever seen by far! Nice to see Jordan attempting his short run towards professional baseball. Thanks for sharing this!

  • @harahetto thx for the recent comments, can I ask, are these flurry of comments because of the 30 for 30 documentary, "Jordan rides the bus", or was this clip mentioned on a website or something?

  • @rairjordan everybody came to youtube looking for vids of Jordan playing baseball because of the 30 for 30 documentary, thanks for the clip

  • @rairjordan haha yeah, i just finished watching the Jordan rides the bus doc. on the internet.

  • @rairjordan I'm watching the 30 for 30 episode right now and I can tell you that's the reason why I came to this video. I'm only one person, but I bet that explains the latest surge of comments

  • @rairjordan i looked this up as i was watching the 30 for 30 so there's your answer for me at least

  • @jcred420 thx!

  • @millenia007 no a player on the baltimore orioles use to play in the nba and mlb he is a relieving pitcher

  • dang jordan not bad of a ball player

  • i feel sorry for MJ's teammates; they probably got no attention that season

  • @PHIL9332 On the contrary. The stands were sold out constantly...but more pro-scouts came to those games, both home and away, so I guess you can say those players received MORE opportunities and more looks by scouts than if Jordan wasn't there. I suppose if you were incredible the scouts would've sought you out anyway though. Stats will bring the scouts.

  • He is just a complete athlete

  • Anybody who criticizes Jordan as a baseball player has no clue what he was trying to accomplish! His father passed away and growing up, baseball was their first love. There is more to this story.

  • was he the only player being in the NBA and MLB???

  • .500 BA, 2 RBIs and a stolen base

  • Given that this was an exhibition game between 2 Chicago teams anyway.. you think Cubs intentionally let Jordan hit and be easy on him to give fans what they wanted to see? I am not necessarily disagreeing with this from a marketing point of view.

  • Jordan is a "bad" baseball hitter because he is tall and he has a huge strike zone!

  • I gotta tell ya, that White Sox line-up with Jordan in it is pretty damn good!

  • A kid coming out of 4 years of high school ball has more business playing in the minors than Jordan.

  • @davitodude hater ill whoop that ass dont diss jordan

  • What I don't get is that why did they give him a contract if he didn't play in high school or college,if a regular dude walked up to a baseball GM and said "Give me a contract, even though I haven't played baseball since I was a kid the GM would have call Security. It just doesn't make since to me.

  • @MicDizzle2 exactly! The only thing i can see is that Jordan is a professional athlete, just not in this sport. So why give him a shot? Because he was the biggest name in NBA. Everyone wanted to see this. I think its a disgrace. But baseball has all been down hill for me since that strike in 94. I know it wasnt the first, but it happend in my generation and It just pissed me off.

  • i always wanted to see jordan in a bears uniform either wearing #23 as a halfback or #45 as a safety.

  • Michael Jordan is just the best...

  • Makes me laugh when i hear people say MJ falied at baseball; he hadn't played the game since he was a child!

He got by on pure athleticism and did pretty damn well, considering.

Can you imagine any baseball player in the history of the game saying, "I played some basketball as a kid, gonna tryout to be a point guard in the NBA".

It would be laughable; MJ is the only athlete who could attempt this kind of switch.

  • @hautelick Because the only way to be good in the NBA is to be 9 feet tall.

  • @sh4rpsh0t33 that is a lie rondo from the Celtics is 6 ft 1 in lol dont be a hater

  • @hautelick

You do realize this was an exhibition game, right? The other team may have even been paid to make Jordan look good. I know dam for sure he sucked ass in the minors, so yeah, it takes more than athletic ability to be a baseball player, you need talent too.

  • @davitodude

Anybody can hit well against the Scrubbies!

  • this is so weird seeing him in a baseball uniform, he's the sort of bloke that could pick up a ping pong bat and kick anyones ass, what a legend.

  • @jamesjonesrocket I love MJ but he didn't kick anybody's ass in baseball...they were kickin his ass

  • Its funny he said after baseball he will just relax. Either did he know he would be part of another bulls 3 peat and than owning a team.

  • 2 knocks in his 1st pro game. baller.

  • LMAO mann jordan looks hilarious batting..throwing...everything..lol. i guess im just used to him dribbling a basketball

  • @AkshunAffirmative One of the biggest flops in all of sports. Jordon really was huge enough to join a local baseball team that embraced him. He made a mockery of the game of baseball and himself, He is lucky he viewed himself as a basketball player instead of baseball player or his career and money would never been there. He says in the interview Even If He Fails so this is like a learning project for him. Last i heard this is not PRESEASON. Aghh sports players today!!! *shakes my head*

  • @Crabman2186 at least spell Jordan's surname correctly, even if you do talk absolute rubbish...

  • @Crabman2186 Moronic; how the hell was this 'one of the biggest flops in all of sport'.

The guy tried his hand at a sport he used to play as a kid; seemingly as a tribute to his dad, who was murdered not long before this.

He hadn't played the game since he was a child; the truth is he did incredibly well, considering.

    Got by on his athleticism.

Imagine Jeter or Arod saying, "played some bball as kid, gonna try and be a point guard in the NBA"; that would be ridiculously laughable.

  • @Crabman2186 Moronic; how the hell was this 'one of the biggest flops in sports'?

He hadn't played the game since he was a child; did this, seemingly, 'cause his father had just been murdered.

    Did incredibly well, considering.

    Got by on pure athleticism.

Imagine Jeter or Arod saying, "played some basketball as a kid, gonna tryout to be a point guard in the NBA".

They'd be a laughing stock and wouldn't have a hope.

MJ is the only man who could attempt such a switch.

  • @hautelick Yup! Please are just stupid. The man had pure talent. If he would have hung around the game for a bit longer,he would have had a solid career.

  • @Crabman2186 yeah, this is actually an exhibition game. anyway, mj's biggest flop was kwame brown. haha.

  • @Crabman2186 Hes fuckin Michael Jordan he can do what he wants. Let's see you get a single and a double against the Cubs.

  • @Crabman2186 This wasn't a regular season game either bro. Does the word "exhibition" mean anything to you?

  • @Crabman2186 I don't see what was wrong with himplaying baseball. He had a short minor league career. He played baseball most of his years as a kid.

  • @Crabman2186 IT WASN'T A REGULAR SEASON GAME, YOU IDIOT. Wow, don't like to yell, but this guy clearly has no idea what he's talking about. The title of the video actually says the word "exhibition." And he wasn't bad for not having played for almost 15 years. Good grief...

  • @Crabman2186 He batted .255 in the Fall League which is the premier minor league squads. He didn't even get 2 full seasons under his belt and hadn't played since high school. A lot of coaches and writers believe he would've of made it to the MLB. Please keep your ignorant comments in your head before you try an look smart.

  • @Crabman2186

U SUCK u dont have any idea about ANYTHING plus, ur probably jusst a little 11 year old who doesnt know a friggin thing about michael jordan so shut ur friggin mouth

  • that catcher totally gave it to him..

  • Wow, Man.. 2-4 With two RBI's.. That's awesome.

  • Whose the old guy?

  • @DClean i swear that look like ol dude from space jams

  • @DClean thats harry caray brotha!!!!!! wich is another one of chicagos big icons @IMStr8throwed

  • @DClean Harry Carey. He was the announcer for the Chicago Cubs.

  • Awesome video dude!!!

  • Michael Jordan.... The biggest icon Chicago ever had

  • @IMStr8throwed next to al capone lol

  • This is great, dude. Thank you for this.

  • jordan is a basketball player, not baseball lol...

  • basketball is his game

  • The greatest moment in all sports history.

  • Why did the game end in a tie? Was it preseason?

  • yo that sounds so weird, "Jordan with an RBI" ha ha!

  • lol i think the cubs are letting jordan play well

  • The unofficial scorecard, It's the Pale Hose

unofficial coolness, off the chart. In his part time, Air picks up some ribbies!

  • hahaha good to see Harry once again!! what a game, thank you for posting this!! GO CUBS GO!

  • what a great video. i was at that game.

  • Wow - cool...thanks for the comment. How was it, being there live!?

  • the Sox had 4 errors, I wonder how many were from MJ. Luv ya MJ

  • Hitting a fastball isn't that difficult...it's hitting the fucking junk and predicting the pitch that's difficult.

  • Still to this day cannot believe this happened. MJ quitting basketball to play baseball with the SOX no less and yes on the same team at that time as the Big Hurt

  • @FRZR93 The only reason he "retire" its because he had gambling issues. Since he was the best player ever, he didn't want to have a bad image reflect on him. So he retired so he wouldn't be suspended for the whole year.

  • i never knew he was a baseball player

  • at 7:11 look at the guy who is closest to the camara on the front row with the shades and the green jacket. He fliped the camara the arm

  • oh harry...RIP

  • sooo hard to find footage of mj playing baseball.. kinda like a conspiracy or blackball.. you just cant find this stuff.. thnak you

  • frank thomas and michael jordan on the same baseball field!!! WOW

  • and Bo Jackson!!!

  • ...and even though I'm a southside Sox fan, Sandberg and Harry Caray, too. wow, what a collection of legends.

  • dang. i didn't know about this how come this was never talked about, he actually made a game tying rbi in the mlb against the cubs!

  • Awesome!

  • Great vid. Whatever happened to this guy?? He just fell off the radar after leaving baseball. Does anyone have any info on him?

  • nope other then he was considered the greatest athlete of his time

  • @Blueford1979 he went back to basketball

  • @Blueford1979 who, Michael Jordan!?

  • @Blueford1979 He's more an NBA player and will remain a legend.

  • @Blueford1979 i hope you are just kidding!

  • What a find. Thanks for sharing!

  • My dad took me and my brother to this game on my 13th birthday. It was the only time I've ever been to wrigley field.

  • go back and see a sox or cubs game at wrigley field before they tear that bitch down, shes gettin old n concretes fallin on ppls heads lol

  • thanks!
