although the idea is great wouldn't it be better to have the live tiles stay "live" and make to folder in the list view, for example it would say "games" and when you tap it it slightly shift the list left and now shows the sublist, so it does a "halfway" page "scroll". Hope that makes sense, but nice work altogether!
Why? You do this, you lose the functionality of the live tiles, probably the biggest difference between WP7 and the others. I really don't see the need.
For forward thinking tech people, some of you people sure don’t want to let go of the old crap we have had to deal with for as long as we have been using computers. Folders on a desktop have their place, folders on a phone are an annoyance.
@Hardrock1a agreed it's not needed for basic users, but it might be necessary to steal some hardcore Android users to WP. I'd prefer a start-menu grouping similar to Windows 8.
@LeoNatan25 Trolling? Please. First off, I'm familiar with Youtube's system, and where I am right now, it makes no difference what the rating on a video is. It's more of a friendly gesture, a salutation towards the end of the video, if you will. A lot of people appreciate my work, and I appreciate them even more, because it's very heartening to see that you've helped someone out. What do you get? Well sir, you win. I gave into your trollbait. Feel good? I hope it does.
@windowsphonehacker Hahaha, you've been semi-trolled. But come on, if you don't need the "rate comment subscribe" crap, then don't troll for it. If people appreciate your videos and software, then they will thumbs up anyway, without asking. I would have. But this "rate comment subscribe" shit is getting on my nerves. You can't go to a video these days with hearing this shit.

@rivengle yes I work in a wireless store and am an avid geek of electronics for the past 26 years. The windows phone 7 is cluttered, clumsy, and unintuitive. Compared to iOS or Android. Thus it shows why this has failed so far and windows 8 will drive most people to adopt either mac or linux because they are familiar ground compared to what windows has become. You can change windows 8 to classic, yes. But average people usually don't know how or want to go through the trouble. Just sayin...
@deadprince73 No, its failed so far because so few people know about it. Just about anyone who's tried it thinks its awesome though. I've only seen a handful in the wild, but everyone who has one loves the OS.
@deadprince73 its easier, elegant and intuitive. Microsoft is trying to push new UI while Mac has been where it has always been in the past. Linux is irrelevant because it is open source.
I really think this should open as a "popup" window rather than a separate window. Windows phone animates too slow to quickly get to the apps you need
Seriously folders? You have to hack it to get folders??? Why do people put up with this ugly, dysfunctional, underdeveloped OS instead of just using Android?
it's even nicer if after tapping the folder, it slides from right, like sliding to the apps list.. i guess the only one that can get it done is MS then.. when it's integrated natively in the OS..
But one question, how do you quit when u are in a folder. Only with the Windows-Button/Back-Arrow or will we even be able to go out of a folder with a tap into an empty section in the folder?
Will it be released in the Marketplace or something we might have to sideload? I always wondered if developers were allowed to build custom hubs for apps.
@windowsphonehacker Thanks for clearing things up. I understood it wasn't a hub. It was a separate comment regarding whether MS should allow custom hubs to 3rd party developers. Well I look forward to the launcher. Good luck with your development. :)
I like the idea of user created hubs, but I don't like that you are losing the live tiles in this implementation. If you could preserve the live tiles it would be much more useful.
Can i create a folder with music and videos in it? Is it hard to set up folders?

This *almost* makes a windows phone 7 worth having. I always thought it is the most un-intuitive phone os until now.

This seems fantastic -- I'm looking forward to it. However, ultimately, here are the things I'd love to see:
1. Live Tile Support on the Internal Level
2. Customizable Icons (Use something from Pictures Hub as the Icon to represent a folder)
Aurelinator 4 months ago 3
@Aurelinator You can have custom icons more or less (depending on how you set it up, it just requires some manual work).
We can't do live tile support internally. It simply isn't possible.

The tile flipping over to show there's more than what's being shown is a cool idea.

Jabid21 4 months ago
@Jabid21 This isn't a hub. It's more of a launcher. This also cannot be released to the Marketplace because it uses native code for launching.

isnt this just a hub.... i mean when u think about it it is. isnt a hub more useful?
If there an item a hub cant do aren't you just requesting a feature to a hub?
WP7 is already going the way of custom hubs.
