I still feel that the most demanding test of an artist is to put a lot of their work together and see how it stands up. It is amazing how beautifully all these paintings, flowers and all, look together. How is it possible? I remember talking once with a quite well-known Rolfer who had worked with O'Keefe for years (she loved Rolfing) and he commented on how tough she was in person. Thus, those flowers may be so striking and strong because they are not just pretty but also sort of tough too!
