No wonder he didn't like to be interviewed- because the interviewers usually didn't know anything about him or didn't even try to do their research before the interview!!
i love elliott smith more than most other songwriters in the history of music, but this documentary doesn't do him enough justice - the robot hand thing is kind of annoying. wish there was a more serious one
If you look at the handshake that Elliott and that girl have it's kinda awkward - Elliott and the girl shake hands with the same hand, instead of the opposite...lol.
When Elliott passed away it hurt all of the people in his life from his close family and friends to the fans who had never met him. This short documentary only makes it more painful since he is no longer with us and now all that is left is an empty space where his brilliance and talent once was.
Ironically, Elliot(Steve) has been a lifeline for me during a really difficult time in my life- he reminds me so much of my best friend who also died. I sit alone and watch these videos almost every night.
The joy I feel from his brilliance is constantly offset by despair- for obvious reasons. You would never know this if you met me in person- I really don't like to bum people out but it's just getting so hard to keep this stuff to myself. Thanks for listening.
I'm addicted to "Plainclothes Man" from the Heatmiser album Mic City Sons, which is a song written by Smith. Some of his songs really chime with me. The continuing popularity of Smith reminds me personally that there are many people in the world that are not happy, and it's not shameful to feel that way.
lol..they interview that woman around 13-14mins and at the end they ask "can we see your tattoo" shes like "no" and it cuts out lol...funny. but god i love elliott
elliott handled interviews well, he was actually nice to the interviewers even though he didn't like it. Like when he said "well, it was the oscars" he was pretty cool about it, I probably would have been kind of a jerk and laughed.
that dude asked him about being nominated for a grammy and playing at the grammys, and elliott goes, "well, it was the oscars..." HAHA. i bet that dude felt like an idiot.
I have been listening to Elliott for quit some time now. He is a huge inspiration to me and music is my life. Im so suprised I had never found this before. Im very glad i did :)
I love this so much. I really like the fact that the sound is slightly messed up; it gives it a more unique sound and overall look to the documentary.
alot of this was meant to be sarcastic. why mention how much he hates interviews then ask the same stupid questions he probably got bludgeoned with every interview he did
i really like this, though it creeps me the hell out. I like how it becomes increasingly dreamlike, it sort of wraps him up darkness and mystery. And hell, I can understand why mr. sensitive Elliot wouldn't want to be dissected with a straight documentary, it would be flat and fake... this on the other hand, is kind of beautiful and sad...i find it really fitting for who I perceive his character to be , down the home-made quality of the audio and visuals.
im in awe by this clip. and not just because it features elliott. its so well done, but in this really cool lo-fi way. its perfect for an elliott documentry. and he seems so happy and relaxed in it. they did a really good job with it.

Its about a songwriter/singer named Eliott Smith that "killed himsef" or so it was said.
Im guessing this is a documentary or maybe a tribute. His music is amazing you should check into it.
isolationeitheror 3 years ago 2
Elliott resented the title 'singer/songwriter'.
He said it had the connotations that the person was supposed to make the audience feel just like them.
But you're right, his music is amazing.
tastethepain28 3 years ago
but he was a singer and a songwriter, no need to jump on someone over something so mundane.
rest assured, Elliott is not hoping you to carry on the torch for him.
cheeze801 3 years ago
I didn't think i was 'jumping' on anyone. I was trying to let people know a little more about the way he thought, but hey, I'm no expert.
