Jacques could have gone to Ferrari from 1996 to 2004... But a guy named Schumacher didn't want to, as he feared to be the slowest of the two. And Villeneuve was not willing to accept the part for second violon, like Crazy Eddie or ''pocket dog'' Rubens
jacques could go to ferrari in 1996, to be a test driver, but he make a choice, going to Williams (best f-1 team in that time). So, i hope to some day Ferrari call him to drive. It´s some like a Gille´s tribute, his son drive one year whatever.
I wish Jacques and Montoya returned to F1. They were actually proper personalities, on and off the track. But they were replaced by Kubica and Hamilton so bleh.
yeah formula 1 misses drivers who are 'real' people... not media trained walking billboards. not getting at today's drivers personally, as f1 is more business now than sport, but it's a real shame. bring back villeneuve, irvine, hakkinen and co!
It's been a business since the early 90s, I'd say. But yes, you are right about that talking billboards that represent the drivers of today. Very few drivers with flair, nowadays. Alonso, Massa and Webber. Maybe Vettel too, I suppose, in a jeuville sort of way...
Take cars where safety is really not a priority, add tracks where safety is really not a priority and all I can say is its a shock more drivers were not killed.
A track that come to mind as totally unsafe (back then) is Watkins Glen. As far as the most unsafe I would have to say the original Nurberring.
In the the year he passed away, Gilles was well on his way to win the F1 championship. And you cannot compare Jacques' style againt Gilles'. JV had the best car on the track, no other machine could approach him. As with Gilles, there were many contenders for the championship. He even had competition from within his own team (Didier Pironi)... So yes: Gilles was far better as a pilot (ad a human being) than Jacques will ever be. Sorry.
How is Gilles a better human being than Jacques will ever be? what is your problem with Jacques?
And as for Jaques winning the world championship due to having the best car and no competition you seem to forget that his team mate Frentzin was a highly reguarded driver who was brought in to Williams to replace Hill and be world champion, and Jacques beat him easily.
Those F1 drivers from the start of F1 up until after Senna took their lives into their hands every time. Made very light, driver protection was just not high on the list of needs. Speed was the name of the game. There where tracks back then that if you had a wreck you where dead, it was not a question.
Thats the old sad joke about the old F1 cars: Sure they had front bumpers....the drivers feet.
I would have cried if I were Jacques, but I'm pretty sure this isnt his first time with his dads car. As a fan I would have been honored to be next to car the legendary Gilles Villeneuve drove.
Man when I was something like 5 or 6 years old I've seated on the 126 ck that Gilles drove on 1981...as a kid I wanted to be a f1 driver,so when I've saw the car on a festival on my hometown,I've immediately asked my father(a great Gilles fan)to bring me near to it...When there I've jumped into it,pretending to drive it on a track, but people went pissed so I've got to step out of it...it was funny...anyway I really respect Gilles...is my hero!
Erm many of my bretheren aren't doing that but OK...I can stand up and admit that yeah Alonso's face was funny trying to put a brave one on. If it wasn't for that mistake pole would have been his by 3 tenths but there we go. Can't wait for the race. Now stop spamming this with Alonso let's take this someplace else.
Ha ha thats funny points 1 and 2 are very flawed your first comment to me was something like "asshole Alonso isn't a legend" something like that. If you have no country why does it say United States on your profile then? Take that off if I were you you're giving our country a bad name. I think we have plenty of competent drivers in F1-Alonso, Massa, Kimi, Nico, Kubica and Hamilton. Define incompetent.
I never talked about Villenueve's car so to call me a dufus who knows nothing about engineering etc is missing the point. You're giving our country a bad name, please stop. For your info the name SennaAlonso had already been taken.
This isn't fanboy crap its crap from you who cannot be constructive about anything. I just got a message yesterday actually saying how good it was that I wasn't a typical fanboy. If you want to talk about Alonso stop spamming this great Villenueve page!
Don't assume, get the facts first. I do know how to drive so do your research first. Guess you're just jealous of what he has achieved, which is a shame. Which driver do you like?
Look at your profile all your comments are from you going "I am God." I'm not going to pay much attention to your comments when you talk like that. Stick to the video subject as well if you want to debate Alonso go to an Alonso video or message me.
this video is all about the glamour and romantics of formula 1. jacques smile in this video is different, really special. this video means a lot to me as a villeneuve fan. thanks a million iseps...really...thanks
I saw one of andretti's old indy cars here in Pennsylvania. Talk about scary! This thing looks like someone built it in their home garage shop and the drivers would do 170+ around the Indy concrete walls.
The drivers of today cannot show if they have the skill to handle cars like that because they do not have the chance. I actually think todays drivers are more ice-blooded, drivers of old were more charismatic like James Hunt, Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet the list goes on.
0 points for the engineers. The cars were very insecure. If not bean the tecnologa sufficient to do them so sure and light as today in gives, I to have established a weight minium for the cars
If Enzo would stil be alive, he would have offered Jacques a Ferrari contract. Enzo looked at Gilles like a son and his kids as grandsons.
