  • I would just like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this poem. Whenever I feel unmotivated, unimportant, or incabable I just watch this again and feel hopeful that I can acomplish what needs to get done. It has helped me more than you can imagine these past few months, so again, thank you.

  • The more I watch this, the more in love with it I fall.. You are amazing with words. Thank you! :D

  • I repost this to my facebook ever 5 months pretty much... it inspires me that much.

  • This poem is incredibly inspiring! I'm pretty sure this is my 100th time watching this by now

  • Marty - so grateful to have known you at USD, and to now be showing your poetry vids to my classes! (M. Remund)

  • @mremundful From the bottom of my heart thank you. You have no idea how cool that is to hear. I wouldn't be writing poetry now if it wasn't for you.

  • Wow that shots deep..

  • @CollinCamburn there's a video on youtube of him doing it in 2008...

  • This is beautiful im only in eighth grade and my teacher played this in class, it was like i was drawn to every word all i want to say is thank you.

  • Thank you

  • I hadn't watched this video for a while but I saw it in my favorites and your words still send me chills. I love the last 30 seconds of this video.

  • You are amazing. I've been so interested in slam poetry lately and I've tried and tried and tried to write. I can't get to sound quite as inspiring as this. I can't thank you enough for this video.<3

  • Brilliant. & Inspirational.

  • All I can say is Thank you. :) <3

  • You're really motivational and very cute :D

  • This has inspired me so much to do more with my life so thank you, thank u so much

  • *snap snap snap snap snap*

    this is beautiful.

  • My name is Amanda, i never thought i could be anything until watching this video. You words are beyond touching to my soul. I've never been more inspired in my life to be whatever i wanted to be. I tried really hard not to cry in my English class today after watching this. You are my push be a better person and i thank you so much. And i want to think my English teacher Mrs.Dickey for showin this to us(:

  • @OmgItsLtPenguin It was my ABSOLUTE pleasure Amanda and Chris :) I had the same feeling when I saw it the first time...and the second...and the third :) Words are powerful...

  • Hey my names Chris... I've always been the kid who always thought I was to stupid to move on and that there was no chance of me being able to fit anywhere or with anyone. But now after watching this video in my English class today had inspired me to push forward and to be the best I can be. I have more faith in myself than I did my intire life, all I have to say is thank you, thank you for pushing me. And thank you Mrs. Dickey for showing us this video today.

  • This is A-MA-ZING. My students (10th grade) are writing poems and going to have a poetry "slam" in class next week...so I played your video for all 7 of my classes today...and you could have heard a pin drop when it was over...I've never heard them so silent or seen them so hanging on one man's words...it was like they each felt you were speaking THEM...all I heard after was..."Wow." That's a tall word coming from 10th graders in a class where they THINK they hate poetry...thank you :)

  • @cynthiadickey This is so cool to hear, thanks for sharing. I wish I had started writing poetry in 10th grade myself! Good luck with the class slam!

  • you have a graceful aura about you

    it's extensively mind blowing

some people are born a unique snowflake

    (:

  • Thank you, this has been added to our playlists here and an facebook....

  • That shit was DOPE! Thank you Marty!

  • you actually made me cry out of happiness for the first time in my life...thank u so much

  • Thanks for the push!

  • LOVE<3

  • this is great. wonderful. i really like it. but it reminds me of a mix between every poem bradley hathaway and big poppa e ever wrote.

  • This speaks to my soul. I'm gonna share this. Great piece!

  • if you need pushing. then you don't have the inner strength to be all that great anyway.

  • @annawee3 we're all driven by something, and that is our "push"

  • @wolterpynaffit he's talking about how you cant be great unless someone encourages you.

so if you dont have the drive or the push then theres no point relying on someone else to give it to you because you're naturally cut out for greatness :) x

  • @annawee3 Everyone needs a little push, cmon man it's hard in a world where no one believes in you

  • @annawee3 I suppose that could make sense in one way or another. But not everybody is just born with "drive" or the "push". It's situations where a child is born with loser parents who tell them their whole lives that they will never amount to anything. Or those with parents who are too busy for their child, so nobody is ever there to tell them that they have potential and ability to be great. If we live our lives believing we are incapable, then sometimes we truly need a push.

  • @mariahselvidge That's the point. look for those situations and those kids and those people. Be the "push" they need. Be the encouragement they need.

  • I LOVE THIS! The way you speak it, and act it, is very moving and effective. AWESOME AWESOME job! I wish I could embed it to my blog :/

  • BOOM! right there! I love you :)

  • YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • damn....

  • marry me.

  • @drivers99 I've been a fan of Anis Mojgani since 2007 and Shake the Dust had already got him to the poetry slam finals. This guy totally copied his idea.

  • You totally ripped Anis Mojgani but whatever, it's cool. pfft

  • total ripoff of anis' piece. fo' shame.

  • there are 18 people out there that have problems if they dislike this amazing, inspiring, beautiful poem

  • I love this so much. Its wonderful.

  • You are a beautiful poet! You are near Nebraska ya? I am a slam poet from Omaha, I am getting together a poetry night/slam at the Omaha Kroc Center I would love to see you come out and compete/share what the Lord has place in you. Just let me know...or not your call, ha. anyways keep ripping it!

  • This is amazing. So beautiful. I'm awe struck.

  • That was awesome. Very good.

  • Beautiful peace of art! Love the last part

  • This was awesome, but when you stood up, I got mad because the mentioned you were an amputee. Woah manatees are cool. I wish I had one like the size of a small fish/very large goldfish size. I could play with it. R/trees (8.5)

  • real life stue wolf

  • yes.

  • Brilliant and inspiring! <3

  • This guy is the reason I started reading my poetry for other people. Always gives me chills, Marty, spread the gospel.

  • Awesome man.

  • this is literally amazing. and beautiful.

  • this sounds EXACTLY like anis mogjani's 'shake the dust'. i'd hate to be a troll, but not very orginial man

  • @arshakshojaei Maybe you didn't notice but Shake the Dust is from 2010 and Push was posted in 2009.

  • @drivers99 I found a video of Anis Mojgani performing Shake the Dust during 2008.

  • I think I love you.

  • Love it: the first Pope with a full body tattoo

  • Comment removed

  • I'm working on a painting it's 2 am and I was about to go to bed I just watched this and now I plan to work on it till sunrise

  • Love this! I was a bit skeptical at first but it turned out to be one of the best pieces I've heard. Great job. (:

  • i cried. omg, it was so inspiring & beautiful, good job! :)

  • Inspiring. I am speechless.

  • My life is now based on this.

  • amazing

  • Very Anis Mojgani-esque ... beautiful ! :)

  • Great work my friend.

  • think you just taught me so much more about poetry than I ever knew.Yo.u have inspired me

  • Thank you for allowing me to post my video in your video responses, I know im not that great but I am very passionate about poetry and Im working hard on it

  • That was more inspiring to me than you could believe. Good to know someone else feels or once felt the same way.

  • I'm crying. This is great. Beautiful.

  • Beautiful and Inspiring. Love it.

  • That was amazing man...it was beautiful and it moved me...peace and love :-)

  • amazing

  • impressive. keep up your art :)

  • thank you so much for modavating me to make something of myself!! i have not been around my father for him to teach me anything so thank you very much.

  • I found this tonight and I've watched the entire thing five or six times. Thank you for the goosebumps.

  • love this

  • The first half of this reminds me so much of Bradley Hathaway's Shotgun Wedding. It's awesome nonetheless. Very awesome, sir!

  • I'm speechless. I'd love to say something amazing that would have millions of "vote ups", but I can't find words right now.

    Best poem. Ever.

    Thank you.

  • That. Was. Awesome!

  • awesome . i love it

  • Incredible, I loved it. You push me....I'll push you right back.

  • "this is for the beautiful girls...

    who someone told otherwise."

    perfect<3

  • thank you.

  • Thank you for this poem. I forgot to push myself both in writing and in life... I've had writer's block for a decent while and after hearing this I broke through it and wrote until my hands hurt.

  • This reminds me a lot of Anis Monaj's "Shake the Dust," but I like your take on it and your style.

  • I'm happy he didnt become any of those things cuz then he would of never made this poem

  • first poetry i fell in love with

  • amazing! i love it

  • You inspired me to start writing poetry and when I had to write one for class I had everyone crying and got extra credit :)

  • The beginning sounds like that Anus guys' poem, but that's about it, 'cause this poem doesn't just say "shake the dust" or anything along those lines, he goes into specifics telling you what you're capable of, so everyone saying that he's copying that other guy, just stop. :p

  • Real fresh there are a lot of people in this world that need to hear this

  • Wow can't stop crying cause the last 7 words (you be dearly missed when ur gone)

  • Absolutely beautiful. I've been stuck in a hotel watching YouTube vids on my iPhone and writing... I strive to shake people as this shook me. 3rd time watching tonight btw.

  • You pushed me to pick up a pen and write something for the first time in 3 months. Thank you.

  • I can't say anything else but thank you for this. I needed someone to push me, and you've inspired me to get all the shit done that I need to no matter how terrifying it is.

  • i still love the line, " I was suppose to be the first rose planted in the desert!"

  • I shared this with my english class, it's beautiful.

  • this is.. crazy. you seriously inspire me.

i don't know what im inspired to do.. but

damn. this is amazing. thanks a alot.

  • i listen to this every day for the past 3 weeks....i love this one an duhpreshun. both of them are amazing gorgous

  • @seymoredolla Anis made his poem long before this guy. Glad you linked to the Anis poem, which this guy CLEARLY ripped off.

    watch?v=kQ-Ox5uH3FM&feature=feedlik

I defy anyone to listen to that and tell me Marty here isn't a thief, an act despised by real artists. As Stoic pointed out, even the timing is the exact same. The way he down-tones at the end of many of his regretful lines.... it's all Anis. I would love to hear his honest opinion on this.

  • this is the kind of shit that shouldve been in the bible

  • 6.3

  • While the words are different the tone and timing are a complete rip off. I used to love this poem, now I'm just disappointed.

  • @Stoic1Crew EXACTLY.

  • That was beautiful...

  • Yeah I am saving this to my favorite on my itouch so I can look at this and know.... I need to learn Spanish . I am lazy and stubborn and impatient as you can tell with my lack of commas. But I need to be pushed. I want it. So thanks. An I don't care if this is original or not, YouTube is what I watch. So thanks man. I wanna learn a language, I wanna leArn half of who I am . And I am starting my program back tomorrrow . Thank you

  • My English teacher (Amanda Domino) showed this to us on the last day of my senior year. It's amazing. Thank you. I don't care if it isn't an original idea; you wrote it from your own heart, making it your own words. Words like these should be said over and over again. It will never lose its importance. It will only help to 'push' people more. So, for those of you who are angry or upset that he 'copied' another poet, stop throwing a temper tantrum. He's helping others with his talent. Thank you.

  • you pushed me to be the best that I can be, thank you!

  • It's probably a bit cliche, but next time i comment on here, or next time i watch this video, i'll make sure that i've been pushed to do something Important. Whether it's on a small or large scale. It'll be important to me, or someone else.

  • Having said that you have some wonderful images... expand experience and explore my friend!

  • are you trying to be Anis Mojgani?? be original, be you.. don't be someone else!

  • @collectorx91 can you type this up and post it or something,,,i would like to use it for a class please and thanks

  • truly inspirational, if i could write something half as good as that i would be thrilled

  • I love this, I used this video in a poetry project for my english class today, not caring if anyone else understood but it has really inspired me to push my self beyond what I thought i ever could do. I love art but never thought it was worth something, today I sold my first painting for $175. thank you <3

  • You.... you changed my life.

  • Really great stuff man.

  • this is beautiful.

  • I also have a poem called Push, and its sends the same message, but in a different tone. I just think thats sorta cool.

  • just,....just thankyou for existing

  • For all the people that loved this, go check out Anis Mojgani, or however you spell it. I dont hold it against him this is so much like "Shake the Dust", because Anis is amazing, its impossible not to be affected by him. Either way, I like this poem alot.

  • wow that was amazing :)

  • You "pushed" me to enter a poetry contest. I won. Thanks! :)

  • @HumphreyTheTurtle100 That's awesome! Congrats!

  • @HumphreyTheTurtle100 Did you use this poem? ;)

  • thank you!

  • iiiiiii am in loooooove!

  • This is the most amazing thing ive ever heard in my life. I have never been so lifted or inspired so thank you for putting a new light into my eyes.

  • I loved this video ... I as well was "pushed" by you .. Thank you -3

  • 'Stolen' or not, this is what I needed, and I'm definitely pushed.

  • We watched this for english class for our slam poem project, this video inspired me and I cant wait to perform my poem in front of my class tomorrow

  • i love you soo much you make me feel the need to push others as well

  • Whenever I'm down, especially after school, I need this poem. I am the last place finisher, I'm the girl people say is hideous, I'm the girl that can't stick up for herself. And you tell me otherwise. Thank you so much.

  • I felt the push man!

    It was truly raw faith...

  • I wach this evety morning to get my mind of of the shit with the fam

  • the fluidity of your movements is incredible. is it sign language or is it just body language?

  • I can't tell you how much I don't care if this is a "rip off". As someone who is just now being consumed by poetry, literally within the past 72 hours. Which, quite honestly is embarrassing to admit? At the young/old age of 25. Knowing as little as I do about it. I do know that it makes my bones shake, sends a warm shiver through my body and makes my eye's leak this weird stuff I am far too used to. So thank you for the push... Just thank you.

  • All I can say is thank you. I saw this in school and I had to see it again.

This poem inspired me the the maximum.

  • aboslutely love it

  • If you liked that video.... you should seriously check this kid out

Andrew Livsey - A Universal Concept

  • tht was really good, i loved it =)

  • I put this on 4 posters. They now hang across my bare wall. You are truly amazing.

  • I wach this everymorning because i am never pushed im just pulled away from my dreams

  • right around at three minutes....i am moved. that was amazing. thanks to you i have discovered this form of poetry, and although i have been writing alot of poems lately only after watching this was i able to put words together in a way that i am moved by my own poetry. thank you for pushing me. the world cherishes your words and ability to display them in such a way. thank you.

  • this is a poem Sad Blue like the rolling tears on a child's face Blue like the water you swim in and almost drown in Black and Blue the colors you get in a fight It happens when people get pushed and can't get back up Its when your friends fade away into the darkness of another It sounds like a closing door that is locked with the key to the underworld,u cant go back It smells like fear of something u can't change It feels like people having to make u sleep outside in the cold ad rain
  • i freakin love this poem it is so inspiring. i know people who would look at this and not give it a second thought. but me, i believe that this poem could change and even save peoples lives. thank you so much for sharing!!!

  • My friend told me to check this out. And I reeeeeeeeally like this. It's really inspirational. My friend was right when he said that slam poetry is the single most beautiful form of art.

  • In my poetry class we have a time devoted to youtube where we can show whatever poems we want. I'm sharing this poem next class. It's amazing.

  • We watched this in my English class. I'm not exactly what you would call a "Poetry Kind of Guy", but this made me feel incredible. At the end, all I could do was turn around to the kid behind me and go "God Damnn.."

You are an amazing poet, dude. I related to this in every way. Whenever I'm down, I watch this. This is just incredible.

  • this is amazing, i got chills watching it.

  • This is amazing. I've seen so many poets use the "this is for the..." format to start a poem. Anis Mojgani is incredible but he didn't even come up with that. This style isn't "stolen" from anyone, people happen to accidentally use phrases others before them have used occasionally but this poem is original and inspiring in it's own way. Don't stop doing what you're doing because of those comments, I for one love it.

  • I have never felt physical symptoms of slam poetry before, but you my friend, you gave me chills and thrilled my heartbeat and raised my hairs and astounded my heart -- I have never felt so moved by someone's words. You will be something amazing one day.

  • From one (aspiring) poet to another, keep inspiring. <3

  • I saw this video, then flew to cairo to cover the revolution. Fuck the haters, you have touched lives.

  • Sometimes we need a reminder of how phenomenal we really are. Out loud, in fluid words. I needed this today. Thanks for speaking it.

  • You have to check out: Andrew Livsey - A Universal Concept

The kid is unbelievable, like so Talented
