If you vote for someone that dose not beleive in liberty, you are throwing away your vote and voteing for tyranny. Is it so important to be on the winning side even if its the wrong side? "The pretense in elections is that the great conflict is between the two major parties. The reality is that there is a much bigger conflict that the two parties jointly wage against large numbers of Americans who are represented by neither party and against powerless millions around the world."
It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men - Samuel Adams #GaryJohnson2012
If Ron Paul gets the Republican nomination and Gary Johnson receives the Libertarian Nomination that could be bad for all of us because it could mean that Obama would win. I still want to see a Paul/Johnson ticket in 2012. Maybe we could see Johnson getting asked by Paul to run with him. That would be epic.
I like a lot of what Paul stands for. But have some sharp disagreements with him. I think the crucial thing is: what do Americans want. Meaning: public policy should reflect public opinion. Then we'd see some meaningful democracy.
@eddiemaxblack The problem is not many in government care about the US Constitution in the first place. If the public wants something then they need to petition the Government to amend the Constitution not just pass a new law. That is what Dr. Paul is talking about when he says "We need to follow our Constitution."
I was pointing out that if, well, we lived in a meaningful democracy then public policy would reflect public opinion. (America is a heavily polled country... Americans, by and large, want taxes to go up for corporations and the rich, want military spending to come down. That's one of the good things about Paul: he wants to lower military spending. Which the majority of the population do support. So, politicians should be simple administrators. The people are the gov't!!!!)
You can be against democracy. That's your choice. But the public are excluded from the decision-making process. I mean, we don't live in a democracy. We live in a plutocracy. Essentially: the rich rule. You can support that. It'd make you a classic conservative. I mean, what Paul wants, and I don't think he realizes this, is absolute corporate tyranny. When you get rid of government, well, what's 2 steps behind them? So, we'd be at the mercy of corporate power....
@eddiemaxblack Well, you are showing ignorance with this pushing of democracy, when we are not one, nor have ever been a Democracy. The US is a Republic that has it's leaders Democratically elected. Read the Constitution.

@atchisrj1 I wouldn't be too scared - if Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination, very few libertarians would vote for Gary Johnson.
