These are just comedians. Their "political statement" is unfocused and absurd. Are they challenging the MORALITY of Exxon-Mobile? Do they believe people are dying because of global warming? What specifically is the point? How did these comedians drive to the venue? Did they ride bikes?
It is absurdist because it is a response to our living in a corporate absurdist state. When you can actually have 300 oil executives sit in rapt attention - even momentarily - and seriously consider the viability of profiting from the deaths of millions, you succeed in a sublime parody that transcends comedy and political activism. What the YM do is basically turn corporatist tactics against the corporatists. That's why it works so well.
@orchidtender what do you mean "profit from the deaths of millions?" does the car industry "profit from the deaths of millions" because they sell cars, which kill people?
